Story
Sandy is an incredibly sweet and smart dog. She weighs 60 pounds. She loves to go for walks and will do just about anything for a treat! She seems to do better with older kids/adults as she has not really bonded with our kids as much as we had hoped. I believe a single adult or couple who has time to devote to her would be the best home possible. She was a rescue and we do not know her history but she is a great dog. She does shed and that has caused allergy issues around our home so someone will need to be willing to brush her weekly to keep the shedding to a minimum. She is afraid of thunderstorms and fireworks so she has a Thunder shirt that seems to help. She gets along with dogs at dog parks and was fostered in a home with multiple dogs so we believe she would be fine with another dog if properly introduced. She enjoys being outside on cooler days but really is an inside dog. She would be so happy in a yard large enough to run around because she loves to run!

Story
Bree is a shy, sweet girl. She takes a little to warm up people, but once she does, she loves with all she is. She is not a fan of males and prefers to be around women. Bree does seek attention from the man in the house, but does it with her tail tightly tucked under her. She does not have an aggressive bone in her body.  She enjoys her daily *short* walks. Bree does have some back issues that require daily pain meds to manage. Because of this, she will not make a good long distance walking/running partner. She does love to play, and does have some energy. Don't let her age fool you. Bree does love other dogs. Having a calm, laid back dog around seems to give her confidence. She watches and learns from them. She tries to play with the resident dogs, and will push them around with her nose (a border collie trait) . She has also learned from the resident dog how to be "vocal" when playing...so they can sound pretty intimidating...but it is all show.  Bree loves to lay by you while you watch tv, sleep right by your bed, so close that you step on her when you get up. She will follow you to the kitchen, the bathroom, outside. She just longs to be wherever you are. Bree love, loves, LOVES food. She is a counter surfer and will be sure to check out ANYTHING (food or not) that you leave within her reach on the counter.   Bree is completely potty trained and does not need to be in a crate. She is NOT a fan of them to be honest. The perfect dream home for Bree would be with a family that has another laid back dog to hang out with and someone who will just love on this sweet girl in her golden years. ##443458##

Story
Our boys are litter mates and from E. TX born in March of 2012. Zeb and Ouray have never spent a day apart and sleep touching one another. They are well behaved and housebroken. Zeb and Ouray are very gentle and just want to be loved. We have a 2 yr old grandbaby that jumps all over them and they have never shown any aggression towards him. Zeb & Ouray are indoor boys and would not survive summer heat. Our last of four children have graduated high school & left home. My husband does away work and I now have to be in the office all day. The boys are left alone way too long and it’s unfair to them. We are looking for someone that will keep them together and indoors. If that’s you we would love to consider you.

Story
Hello world! I'm Harper Leia and I'm a 5yr old border collie mix weighing about 65lbs. I had a rough start to the year - I was found wandering the streets with a badly broken front leg. But, I was all kisses and so thankful that the nice staff at Irving Animal Shelter and then my foster mom with PAWS for Irving Animals have been able to take such great care of me! I really love to be with my people and I'm good with the other dogs in my foster home. I LOVE squeaky toys and I'm happy to entertain myself with squeaks! I have good manners - I don't jump up, I sit for treats and affection and I know to run right into my kennel for breakfast and dinner. I'm healed up now and doing great! I still have a bit of a limp and probably always will, but I still love to chase squirrels in the yard and go on leashed walks. Ready to meet? IMPORTANT: This animal is NOT at Irving Animal Shelter. This dog has been rescued by PAWS for Irving Animals and is currently in foster care. To set up an appointment for us to bring the dog to meet you, please follow the instructions below. Dogs in our foster care program are: spayed/neutered microchipped up to date on all vaccinations negative for heartworms and on regular heartworm preventative OR recently treated for heartworms and on regular heartworm preventative (It can take up to 6 months for a dog to test negative for heartworm after treatments. We will provide you all the medical documentation regarding the pet's treatment.) in loving foster care homes where they have received training and socialization to help them fit into your home more quickly.  There are a few steps to set up the adoption. Complete the  Adoption Application  online. The online application is a web-based form that should be accessible on Mac, PC, tablet or mobile device. If you'd like us to send you a PDF via email, we can do that too! If you are meeting us at an event, you can complete the application at the event itself. We require the application in advance so we can get to know a little more about you, and for better safety of our fosters and the dogs.   Schedule a home visit. After the adoption application is received, a volunteer from PAWS for Irving Animals work with you to find the best time to meet the pet. Depending on your schedule and the schedule of the pet's foster parents, this might be at a scheduled adoption event (Adoption Events), an area park, or your home. If that initial visit goes well, a volunteer will visit your home with the pet you are interested in adopting. We will ensure that the pet you are interested in has the opportunity to meet all the members of your immediate family, including other pets, to ensure that this adoption is a good fit. We can even do a trial adoption for a period of up to 3 days if you would like. (Note: If you choose to do a trial adoption, we will hold a check for the full price of the adoption fee until you make your final decision. If you choose not to adopt, we will return the check to you when we pick up the dog.)   Pay the adoption fee. The adoption fee is $200 for dogs under 12 months and $150 for dogs over 12 months of age. The adoption fee covers many elements: full vetting (spay, vaccinations, etc), registration of microchip to you, etc. You have 3 options for payment: Via check. This can be either given to foster/volunteer at adoption hand-off or mailed as a check made out to "PAWS for Irving Animals" with "Adoption - DOG NAME" in the memo line. The check can be given to PAWS representative at time of adoption. Online at  https://www.pawsforirvinganimals.org/available-dogs-in-foster-care/pay-your-adoption-fee/ .  Be sure to select the correct amount - $200 for dogs under 12 months and $150 for dogs over 12 months. You can pay via PayPal as a "Friends & Family" transfer to PAWSforIrvingAnimalsLLC@Gmail.com

Story
Dixon is a sweet natured, very loving 18 month old Australian Cattle Dog looking for a home where his people are not gone long hours and have a doggie playmate for him to play with in the backyard.  Loves to cuddle and snuggle with his human companions. He will lean on you for comfort and support (literally), isn't overly hyper and will be content following his owners around the house, settling where they do.  Housetrained, crate trained and sleeps thru the night in his own bed. Walks well on leash and will not wonder away if off leash. Loves car rides and would be happy to go anywhere with you. Very dog friendly and happy to follow the lead of another dog who would help him remain active, engaged and show him the house rules. Smart boy who knows basic commands sit, stay, shake, will wait to eat and would enjoy learning more.  Dixon has a good medium energy, but will not be a running or hiking partner. Walks, running around the yard and cuddles are more his speed. While he's not destructive inside or outside, if bored he will find creative ways to entertain himself like helping himself to food left on the counter if unsupervised.  Challenging his mind with puzzles, activities and training would be great for him.  A home with older or no children is recommended due to the 'herding and nipping' behavior common in his breed.  He's not a big barker, not a fan of the vacuum cleaner or loud noises and has not been cat tested.   Dixon came into his foster home underweight with signs of neglect and an unknown medical condition.   He just wanted to be loved and craved affection.   His amazing foster family has shown him love, helped him learn family life and have enjoyed having this super fun, loving boy around.  Dixon was diagnosed with a liver shunt, a condition he was most likely born with, and it does present the characteristics normally listed with this condition.   He is on the thinner side and has decreased muscle control. It is fun to watch him running around the house on the wood floors where he can't always remain on all 4's. One adorable feature is that his paws are a little bigger than his body, like a puppy, so when he walks, he shuffles his feet and you can always hear him coming! He also has a cute little side sit. He is currently on a special low protein/ vegetarian diet due to his health restrictions and is eating and drinking well.   Dixon is 45 lbs. neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and current on prevention.    If you want to open your heart and home to this adorable, loving boy, we'd be happy to chat with you. Dixon is available thru Western Australian Shepherd Rescue. Please contact the rescue's adoption coordinator with any questions or to get an application: SandiRochowski4@gmail.com
