Story
Welcome Hunter to our clan! Hunter is a 1 1/2 year old male, brown tabby with white on his chest and nose.  Hunter is an absolute love bug and is a very loyal cat - the kind of cat that would love to have a one-on-one relationship with his owner - like dogs do. He will seek you out for attention and trots to you quickly when you call his name. He often puts his front paws on your legs (but doesn't dig his claws into you at all ) to signal for you to pick him up. He gives nose-to-nose eskimo kisses and loves to have his chin rubbed.Hunter also loves to play. He can actually play fetch with his toy mice - when you throw the mouse, he catches it in the air and returns it to you. He loves to play with laser pointers, and loves to catch bugs, which is how he got his name.Hunter came to us as an owner surrender. His former owner told us that he may have  wanted to play a little too hard with the little boys he lived with. They would all play, but when the boys wanted to stop playing, Hunter would hide and jump out at them when they walked by, scaring them.Since Hunter has been in foster care, he has been a delight! He is perfect and meticulous in the litter box and is an AWESOME cat. A very special, warm, quirky personality cat. He will make the perfect companion for someone. His purrfect home would be a quiet, low-activity  home, with maybe one or two other cats and older kids - maybe 13 or older. He gets along great with other cats, but seems to be intimidated by them, often retreating to a quiet space by himself until called. Hunter is okay with small, cat-friendly dogs. Must be an indoor only home. Hunter is ready to go now. He is neutered, received his distemper and rabies vaccines, tested negative for feline leukemia, heartworm, and FIV, and will be microchipped with a lifetime registration. If you have a little room in your home and want a lovable and loyal companion, Hunter is your guy. We really can't say enough about him. He is awesome.  540.717.4420 GoodMews22@aol.com

Story
Meet Merry! She and her sister, Pippin were born to a stray mommy cat and were brought into foster care by a nice lady when they were just 2 months old. Though still a little shy, they are playing with toys, love treats, and learning to be held by people. Merry especially loves to be held and snuggle; she is the more social of the two. They are both very sweet and have become dependent on each other. Because of this they will need to be adopted together.  Their purrfect home would be an indoor only, quiet, low activity home with older children, 12 years or older.  Both will be dewormed, spayed, receive 2 distemper vaccines, a rabies vaccine, tested for feline leukemia, FIV, and heartworm. They will also be microchipped with a lfetime registration. For more information, please email GoodMews22@aol.com.

Story
OOPS! I have been calling this poor baby Freckles and her name was Speckles!!Meet Speckles! She is a beautiful short-haired brown tabby, just 10 years young. She recently came to us on her Freedom Ride from a SW VA shelter. (Her handsome brother, Cookie came to us the week before, and when we heard he had a sibling, we couldn't say no.)  Speckles and Cookie lived in a home with 18 other cats, but before you think, "ugh," all of the cats were cared for impeccably. Both were spayed and neutered, lovingly cared for, and up to date on their vaccines, until their elderly human fell ill and needed to go into a nursing home. Speckles likes to talk and tell you about her day. She will meet you at the door and walk with you into the room, and she LOVES her canned food. She is very friendly and loves to be petted.Speckles is spayed, up to date on vaccines, combo tested negative, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. Interested? Story
Miss Moppett is a beautiful, long-haired black and white female, about 2 years old. She had the misfortune to be living under a home on West Street with her older kittens. The owner was not a cat-lover and decided he was going to seal up the opening under the home, whether Miss Moppett and her family were there or not. I came to get Miss Moppett and she is now living happily in her foster home. Her socialization skills are coming along nicely. She is interested in people and is becoming comfortable with her foster mom being near to her. On the socialization scale of 1-10, 10 being a regular house cat, she rates a 10. She recently has decided she enjoys being pet, being held, is very loving, and likes to talk to you. ? Moppett is blind. Examination shows that she does not follow your hand when moved in front of her face and she is often observed bumping into other cats and seeming surprised. She seems to have adapted well to this, knowing every area of the cat room and main floor of the house, walking right through without incident until she comes upon a blanket on the floor or cat in her path, which surprises her. She has come a long way in socially. She knows her name and upon hearing her name, she perks her head up and waits for you to come to her. Once she smells your hand, she rubs her head against you. She is able to be picked up and held and loves affection. She loves her canned food every morning and is brave enough to venture around her foster home without incident. Miss Moppett is spayed and up to date on vaccines. She gets along very well with other cats and requires an indoor only, quiet, low activity home. Please contact Lynn at GoodMews22@aol.com or call 540-825-3744 if interested in this fairy tale kitty. Adoption fee $65.
