Story
Due to current travel restrictions related to Covid19 there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are prepared to wait.   Whoopie, it's my turn! I am so excited. They tell me this is my chance at finding a home. Please, please pick me. I am Queenie, an 18lb terrier mix from Shanghai.  I'm a year and a half old and 14 inches tall.  This shelter has been my home for quite a while now. Somebody dumped me here when I was still a puppy.  But, unlike some of the dogs who find it overwhelming, I'm a pretty adaptable little dog and I've made lots of friends here. I'm quite a funny, outgoing little girl who isn't at all bothered by cats and could easily share a home with one (or more) of them. My favourite time of all, is when one of the staff or volunteers comes around. I love being close to people and will follow them and try to sit nearby.  I think it would be just heavenly to have a human of my own.  If you have room in your home for a small, happy, friendly little dog of medium energy and wagging tail, then please pick me to be your companion. I will spend every day of my life giving you love and gratitude.   I am spayed, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $550 includes my airfare to Canada. Story
Due to current travel restrictions related to Covid19 there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are prepared to wait.   Hi there, my name is Marilyn. I'm a 13lb chihuahua mix, around 2 years of age and 12 inches tall and I am dying to meet you in person. Right now I am living in a foster home after being dumped, along with my litter of puppies outside the gates of the Shanghai shelter.  Whether it was the shock of being in such a noisy, crowded place, or being separated from my puppies, I don't know, but the fact is I spent all day, every day crying in that shelter.  The shelter manager couldn't stand it any longer so she brought me back to her house. It's hard for me to count all the foster dogs she has here, but I don't mind, because I am way happier in this place than I was at the shelter.  I don't cry any more and in fact I often feel quite happy.  My happiest moments are when I get cuddles from my foster mom or one of the other humans here. I love it when people show me affection and I can give lots of it back in return, so I hope you're prepared! Hanging out with the other dogs is very pleasant because we've all become friends. I could easily share my future home with another dog if you have one already.  Check out how cute I look in my little jacket and if you find me irresistible then please send for me right away!   I am spayed, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $550 includes my airfare to Canada. Story
Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. Hello world! My name is Mackie and I am a charming 2 year old saluki/golden retriever mixed pup from Bahrain. I am 50 pounds of pure handsomeness and stand about 23 inches tall. Check out my adorable nose freckles and soft, furry ears. Aren’t I SO darn cute? I was found wandering the streets of Bahrain with my bro, Brownie. A kind American man noticed us and brought us to the Shelter where we could be cared for and kept safe from the dangers of the city streets. We have been at the BARC Shelter ever since, and even though they take great care of us, we both long to have a home of our own. I’m really good with other dogg-o's (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsTC1dttIFk) and I LOVE to be loved by my humans (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9mBo6mRkB0&feature=youtu.be). They seem to love me too, I mean, look how gentle and cute I am!! How could they not love me?! I’m a pretty good boy on the leash albeit a wee bit distracted by yummy smells and things that move, hehehe (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqZHGgM8y4k&feature=youtu.be). My rescuers say that I am SUPER sweet. Look at my picture of me being super smart doing my “shake-a-paw". Are ya sold on me yet? I’m basically the full meal deal; young, adorable, smart, and gentle! What more can you want in an furry, four-legged companion? I am neutered, vaccinated, and micro-chipped. My adoption fee of $550 includes my airfare to Canada.   Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website,  http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/  and to read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.    Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. Given my best guess breed, that makes me a medium-large girl. Hey, more of me to love, I can sit in two laps at once. I have spent my life so far here in a shelter. I really want to know what it is to have a loving home. I was found by some trash cans with an infected leg when I was 2 years old. Another dog had seriously bit me, while I was just trying to find a meal. Food is often scarce, so it is a struggle here in the Middle East to survive. The place where I hung out was very dirty. It caused an infection, which fortunately did not result in the loss of my leg. That infection was cured with medication, however I had an old break that showed up on the xrays. It did not require surgery, but it has caused me to permanently hold up that leg, as it is rigid. This has created some nerve dysfunction between my knee down to my toes, but it doesn't stop me from moving about. I tend to be calm and friendly. I have with an independent and quiet nature. I display no aggression toward humans. For the most part, I have a good relationship with most other dogs, but I do have issues with male dogs. It must have been a big boy dog that bit me to make me feel this way. I have never been around a cat. It is not unusual to see me off by myself. I enjoy my personal space at times. Don't get me wrong, I am nice and kind, I just need relaxed space occasionally. Due to my intelligence and independence, a training class after I have settled in a while might be a good thing for both of us. A semi to lower activity home is probably best. I do like to get out though. Walking is something I enjoy doing, as is just resting, taking in the sights and sounds of my environment. I guess you could say I am observant of what goes on around me. My ideal family will be those who like to get out on leisurely walks and also hang out around home working in the garden and such, where I can just lay down and watch. Or maybe reading or watching TV, so I can snuggle against you and chill out. I hope you will consider applying for me. I really want a real home.   I am spayed/neutered, *vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $400.00, this includes my airfare to Canada.   Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Who doesn't love that sweet treat? You will find I am a sweet girl too. In the south part of the Middle East, my rescuer saved me and my mom (the orange dog in the photos) from being killed by workers at the oil refinery where we were hanging out. I was just a puppy then and had skin problems. This rescuer sent me to another rescuer further north. This rescuer is helping to make sure I find a home. We are in her home now, waiting. I am all healthy and beautiful too. Just look at my photos. When I first was saved I didn't want other dogs to get close to me, so I hung out in a corner and snarled if they got close. I got over that fear quickly and after a couple weeks, I was playing with them. I do rather prefer to play alone with my person though. Things like ball or running, but I will play with other dogs too. Only thing is, I don't like sharing my toys and will hide them. I will share my food though. Ya I know, weird. You'd think it would be the other way around. Ha. My activity level is middle of the road and I am good walking on a leash. House training is in my portfolio too. I get along great with my mom, if you decide you want 2 dogs. Hint hint. It would be nice to have a yard or get to the dog park often for a chance to run around. As you can see in the video, I am pretty agile, so will enjoy getting out and about. Well, now you don't have to go to the carnival for cotton candy, you can just have your own all the time.   I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped.My adoption fee is $550.00 CAD, this includes my airfare to Canada.    Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. Chickpea (Luci)Breed: English Pointer mixAge: 7 yrsGender: fe, spayedWgt/Hgt: 88 lbs / 27-1/2 inchesEnergy level: moderateRelations: good with non-dominant dogs / unknown kids & catsHighlights: tripaw, likes lounging & playing, food protective, curiousRegion: Middle East Hmmm, yummy chickpeas. See my spots, kind of the color of chickpeas. I have a super sweet smile, as you can see by my photo. Yes, I am a large girl with a large heart of love.  I soooo desire to know the love of a family. I have been stuck in a shelter since I was a puppy. https://youtu.be/YymFplmF1CA. Living in the Middle East as a dog is a very harsh experience. The municipality where I lived with my 4 puppies, hired people to kill dogs around the farm areas here (they always did that by shooting us when the number of dogs increased and the people called them in to do it.) My babies were thrown in the river. They beat me with sticks, as often happened to dogs running around. My leg was injured and in really awful condition. It was broken and infected, so I was chewing it off. I wasn't able to step with my leg. It would just drag on the ground when walking. This created deep wounds and the skin was rubbed off. It was so painful. Rescuers saved many of us in the area. The doctor ended up having to cut off part of my leg above the infection though, because the infection was moving up my leg, which would have meant losing my leg completely and possibly my life. Like most dogs, I have adapted very well to being a tri-paw and I get around just fine. There is a video of me you can watch. Probably because of the things that happened in my past, I remain rather fearful of people. I watch the other dogs enjoying the touch of human hands and I envy their ability to trust and relax in the presence of people. I used to be very comfortable hanging out & playing with my canine friends and you can often find me curled up beside one of them having a little snooze. Lately, I have become more alpha dog. I think it is all these years being stuck in the shelter. I need to get out. Then I can learn to relax again. Please don't let me linger here longer. I can be just a little food protective with other dogs. Feeding us apart from one another might be good to start off. I am shy around humans, so I am uncomfortable having people move too quickly to  approach me. I also have trouble allowing someone to touch me, until I sense the trust. I tend to get nervous and escape quickly, if you try to take hold of me. I am sure it must have been all my experiences with people who do not like or understand dogs and those who were trying to harm me. I do enjoy exploring everything though. That curiosity would likely work in your favor for training purposes. Bet you could help smooth me out like hummus. I will need a patient place to overcome the past. I want to find out what being in a loving home is all about in this great dog loving land of Canada I hear about. A home that is calm with someone who is willing to take time, allowing me to become comfortable with my environment and go slow teaching me is what I need most. In fact, I would probably benefit from having another calm dog in my future home to help build my confidence and show me the ropes of how to act being around humans. One that isn't interested in being the big cheese. Also to show me that everything is safe. I really enjoy lounging around too. So maybe we can become snuggle partners one day. I am sure my sweet nature will start to pour out with your help. I need time, patience and love. If you can feel my heart reaching to yours, please save me from a lonely existence and help me become the dog of my dreams. Please do not wait another minute, allow me the chance to become the dog of your dreams too. My adoption fee is $400.00, this includes my airfare to Canada.
