Story
Gorgeous Theo came into our care through one of our animal protection officers when he was not receiving proper care in his previous home. Theo has come a long way. He was quite nervous when he first came into the shelter, but through continued socialization, he's really starting to come out of his shell. He's very sweet and loves attention and can be quite independent too. Going out for walks is still a new experience for him so Theo tends to pull on the leash and can be reactive to other animals around. Although he is over a year, Theo is not yet house-trained so he will need further training with that and general dog obedience. Theo will need a loving, patient home that has plenty of time to spend with him and continue on with his socialization and training. First time dog owners would not be a good match for Theo nor a home with small children. If you're interested in meeting Theo, then come visit him at the Vancouver SPCA today! Story
*#481246 'Cortez' is a saucy, little, hot tamale. His larger than life personality can run your life it you let him. Cortez is a fun-loving and busy little man. He's very playful and enjoys at least 20-30 minutes of daily walking X 2. So typical of the breed he will bond with his new owner being a go everywhere companion. Cortez is very sensitive to some body handling and will need a human who is patient and has experience with his breed to work through this behaviour. He loves being close to his human on his terms. The ideal home for this little man will be adult only with no other pets. Cortez is pending a dental and we are accepting applications for him on-line.***In order to protect the health of our staff, volunteers and members of the public during the COVID-19 pandemic, we've made changes to our adoption process.1. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Beautiful Tess has returned to rescue at no fault of her own. She is a sweet, submissive girl who was being bullied by the other resident K9. Tess returned with a little excess weight and we are working on getting her slim and trim once again. She enjoys playing with the other dogs, big and small however she would be best suited for a very dog savvy home with other large, playful, submissive companions. We suspect Tess could have some herding instincts and we recommend a home quiet home without small children or to much chaos. Tess is an affectionate dog, obedient, works for cookies and belly rubs and would just like to find a nice county home with a nice couch to crash on! Story
Calling all canine-lovers! My name is Lainie, pleasure to e-meet you! I am a strikingly pretty shepherd-mix young pooch from Bahrain. I am about 3 years old, 46 pounds, and 26 inches tall.    I grew up living with a lady who didn't treat me very well. I lived with about 20 cats in a horribly-conditioned house. My owner ended up being deported (yikes) and left me and all of my feline-friends behind. Luckily we were rescued and moved to the shelter, which is a HUGE upgrade from our horrible home. I feel like I'm practically living in first-class now, in comparison to what I had before. Despite this major upgrade, I still don't have a "home" to call my own. I would love to have humans to cuddle with me and a cozy bed to snooze on. I hear that long walks and hikes are pretty awesome... boy how I'd love to experience that!    Seeing as I grew up surrounded by 20 cats, I'm very cat friendly. Check out my video; put a kitty next to me and I'm wagging my tail! Pretty chill, right?    If you're looking for a young, four-legged, furry companion... look no further! Please consider becoming my furever family, I'd love that so much!    I am spayed, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $500 CAD includes my airfare to Canada.   Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website,  http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/  and to read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.  Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of the descriptions. Remember, every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person leading him and the environment. The age and breed of a dog is almost always an educated guess and at no time do we promise or guarantee the age or breed of a dog.  Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. Story
Hello to my future furever family! My name is Robbie (or you can call me Rob). I am a handsome two-year old, 55-pound (70cm tall) bundle of love. My rescuers think I might be a Shepherd-Saluki mix; whatever breed I may be... I must say, I'm pretty dang cute! What's my personality like, you might ask? Well, I am a super sweet, bubbly, friendly, outgoing, and gentle pup. It doesn't get better than that, eh? Oh I'm also 95% house-trained AND apparently I'm great on a leash! I'm pretty active and love being outside. Perhaps we could go for runs, long walks, or visit some doggy friends at the local dog park? What's my story? I was found in an area of Bahrain called Adilya, where I was hanging out near a restaurant looking all sweet and lonely and oh so very hungry. My rescuer fed me some bread  and then guess what? I followed her and jumped straight into her car! My kind rescuer took me to the shelter, where I have been ever since. Although I'm so lucky not to be on the streets anymore, I long for a real home filled with love, cuddles, and maybe a nice soft bed. Could you be my furever family? I hear amazing things about the Canadian West Coast, oh how I'd love to travel there! Although there is no video of me hanging out with cats or kids, my rescuer says that I'm a gentle boy and get along with every animal and kiddo that I meet. I have been neutered, vaccinated & micro-chipped. My adoption fee is $550.00 CAD, this includes my airfare to Canada.
