Story
Hi I'm Sugar. I'm around 18 months old and 32 pounds. I'm a female terrier mix, at least that's what they tell me. Foster mom thinks I'm Jack Russell/lab mix, but I'm a bit of a couch potato. I get excited when you first come home but after that I'm chill. I'm house trained, and I'm crate trained but I whine a bit sometimes. I'm a nervous girl so older kids please. I live with dog but I don't want to share my toys or food. So with some management I can live with other dogs but I'd be happy to be your one and only too. I like to chase squirrels so I don't think cats are in my future. I take a bit to warm up. Once I do I'm a snuggle bug. If you have a fenced yard I love to hang out outside with you. I'm a dream on a leash so we could take nice long walks. I am up to date on all my vaccinations, spayed, microchipped and just an all around great companion. My adoption fee is $255. If you are interested in adopting me, please visit heathersfosterdogs.org to complete and submit your adoption application.

Story
Meet Promise, a very loving but extremely shy little girl. She is an 8 year old, 9 pound Chihuahua/Dachshund mix. Promise adores her human foster mom and dad and loves nothing more than to be snuggled up next to you. She would do best in an adult only household where someone is home most of the time. She likes the quiet laid back kind of lifestyle. Promise is an exceedingly finicky eater. She doesn’t like regular dog food so her foster mom cooks for her, which is super easy. She gets along with the other small dogs in her foster home but she doesn’t really interact with them. Promise is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and current on heartworm and flea prevention. Promise’s adoption fee is $150. If you are interested in adopting Promise, please visit heathersfosterdogs.org to complete and submit your adoption application!

Story
Pearlie is a beautiful 11-year old chow mix (so they say), who enjoys eating and sleeping. She has been a joy since we got her as a puppy and she is loved dearly. We got her from the South Suburban Human Society when she was 6-months old and though she is a senior dog now, she is still a calm, great dog who pretty much loves everyone. Even with her tail wagging, she is slow to get up and no longer runs like she used to because of arthritis. She has an autoimmune issue that causes her skin to be irritated, but with cream and medicated baths, she has some comfort. She needs a home that has minimum stairs and attention to keep her comfortable. If she stays on eating schedule, she rarely has indoor accidents, but with her aging, I'm not sure how long this will last. So far, so good....

Story
My name is Sissy and my sister and I were brought into the shelter because our owner didn't have enough time for us. We can be very active and playful, but we also really enjoy snuggling!! The good news with having two dogs is that we can wear each other out and basically just be each other's best friends. We are pretty petite girls. I can be a little more nervous at first when meeting new people, so just be patient with me. We are still pretty puppy-like, so just keep that in mind!We LOVE to go swimming in kiddie pools, so we would make perfect camping and fishing companions, if that's the kind of thing you are into!If interested in setting up a virtual meet and greet, please email our Adoptions Manager at office@southsuburbanhumane.org

Story
Carter has come a long way since he was brought to the Humane Society as a stray. When he first came in, no one could touch him or even approach his cage. Nowadays, if you spend some time letting him sniff around, give him some treats, and let him get comfortable with you, he warms up. He will accept pets and even seek them out at times. Carter is looking for a quiet, chihuahua- savvy home to rule. If interested in setting up a virtual meet and greet, please email our Adoptions Manager at office@southsuburbanhumane.org
