Story
We have one beautiful lady on our hands in our lovely Lisa! This pretty puppers came in to our shelter as a local stray. Sadly she did not have an owner but we made sure she got all the love in the world while she wiggled her way to the adoption floor! Lisa hasn't quite hit 100lbs but she is close, which makes her all the more to love! Our Lisa is a girl who needed a lot of coaxing and socializing to help ease her stress while being at the shelter. After some well deserved TLC and proper handling, our Lisa grew to make more and more friends as time went on. She would benefit from a similar transition, which is why having an experienced dog-savvy, an adult-only home would suit this princess perfectly! She enjoys her outdoor time and prefers being the only pet in her furrever home! Some playtime, exercise, and a patient, loving transition to her new home is all she can ask for! Lisa is wary of new people so she is available by appointment only. Please email felinemanager@animalcareleague.org to setup a meeting.

Story
Meet Maple! Maple came to Animal Care League as part of a transfer from a local open-intake where she was surrendered very pregnant. Once we saw this malnourished, sweet pregnant little girl, we knew we had to help her! Maple's puppies have since found their forever homes and now it's Maple's turn! Maple was clearly not treated very nicely where she came from but despite that Maple is an absolute doll who enjoys the fun things in life - Fetch, long walks, snuggles, treats, and being told how pretty she is. Maple would do best in an experienced dog-savvy Adult only home where she can just be the baby in the household and just love YOU. If you are interested in meeting the marvelous miss Maple, please email felinemanager@animalcareleague.org.

Story
Meet Jada! Jada came to the Animal Care League as a local stray after her owners moved and abandoned her in an empty house. Understandably, Jada was heartbroken and confused when she first arrived and was unsure if she could trust us - After loving her through her transition, Jada has shown us what a great girl she is. Jada can still be shy when she first meets you, after being abandoned by the people she loved who can blame her, But once Jada gets comfy she shows what an affectionate and smart girl she is - She even knows "sit" and "paw"! What a smartie pants! Our sweet girl would be her happiest in an experienced dog-savvy home with teenagers 15+ that will understand that she's been through an ordeal and will just show her what love and trust is. We have no doubt after you meet our Jada lady, you will love her just as much as we do. Come meet Jada today!

Story
Meet Dutchess! Dutchess came to the Animal Care League as a transfer from a local shelter where she was confiscated as a cruelty case. Once we heard Dutchess's story and met her this sweet girl, we knew we had to help her find her forever home. Dutchess is understandably scared when she initially meets people, especially men - But once this sweet girl meets you properly she is just all snuggles and fun. Dutchess has spent time in foster which confirmed that she loves other dogs and they really help her lose all of her worries and just be a carefree dog. We believe Dutchess would do best in an Adult Only home, having another dog is a plus, that can really see her through her worries and help her feel safe and loved. We absolutely love this girl and we think you will too. If you are interested in meeting our resident royalty, please email felinemanager@animalcareleague.org !

Story
Is your motto go big or go home?! If so, Pickles is the dog for you! Weighing in at 130lbs this dog isn't going to fit in any purse! :)Pickles came to ACL as a stray. He was found laying in the street, and upon arrival to ACL was completely shut down, weighed 165 lbs and could barely stand up. He was petrified and we knew we had to help him. Since Pickles was having such a hard time, our Director decided to bring him into her office to get some extra TLC. Fast forward several months and thanks to our vet staff and lots of hikes in the woods, Pickles is down to a more reasonable weight for his breed/size and his personality has really come forward. This dog is loyal and sweet and goofy and motivated. He absolutely LOVES car rides-we would say lives for them-and absolutely loves exploring in the woods (as long as you are willing to stop to eat some grass). We can assume that he didn't get out of the house much in his previous home so is frightened of new situations, loud noises and big giant trucks however if you protect him from those scary things, in return he will protect you when he feels it's necessary. Pickles has come a long way in his time here at ACL, but he is ready (and deserves) to live his days outside of the shelter. If you are interested in learning more about him please e-mail executivedirector@animalcareleague.org. The likely best home fit for Pickles would be someone who is patient, fairly active (enjoys nice long walks and walks in the woods), and appreciates and/or has some experience with German Shepherd Dogs. A pet parent with a car that was lower to the ground would be a HUGE bonus! Pickles might do OK with another dog, and we are not 100% sure about cats. Pickles will have to go to an adult household/kids in home 18+ home.
