Story
Meet Blackie!!! He is a Newfoundland/Retriever mix believed to be much younger than what was said when surrendered. Maybe 7 years old at most. His foster mom think he’s even younger. Blackie was surrendered by his elderly owner who was unable to care for him. Blackie is great with dogs and cats. He loves puppies and is very playful as well. Blackie would do be best with a fenced yard. He needs a family who will dedicate time to him. Blackie enjoys snuggling, is very affectionate with people, loves going for walks, enjoys playing with dogs, and he is very food motivated as well. Blackie is house broken and crate trained. He is not destructive at all. He is active, but not hyper. He will make a great family dog with older children. Animalhousesanctuary.org ahsadopt@gmail.com

Story
Harvey, how I love this dude, but he will need someone who is active and has a large, fenced yard. He loves to run, not walk, and the faster, the better! He needs a home with other dogs, a pack to join. He has been at the sanctuary for almost 3 years. He was very fear reactive and took a year plus to get him to trust people again. He is a 5 year old beagle/golden lab mix. Like the beagle, he follows his nose. He is great with people and has come a long way; he will need someone to understand him. Harvey came from a blended family . The step-father, and his 2 sons, beat Harvey for fun, as a joke, as a way to pick on the step-sister/daughter. Harvey belonged to her, and were very close. Anyway, Harvey is welcoming of all people, a bit protective of treats, toys, and food. As a result, he only gets soft treats that he eats right away, and won't save. Once he is done eating his food, it is put away, as are toys after play time. Absolutely NO children for Harvey! His future home must have a secure, fenced yard. An active runner or cyclist, would be the best parent(s) for him. Could you give Harvey the perfect home he deserves? Adoption fee: “Name your fee”. Suggested minimum $200. Fee MUST be included on application! Last updated 3/24/19 Interested in this dog/cat? Please complete an adoption form from our website www.animalhousesanctuary.org and email to AHSAdopt@gmail.com. Story
Pepper is a very sweet girl but she needs to be in a home where she is the only pet and gets all the attention. She is an angel when being petted and played with. She doesn't need to be in a crate as long as she can't get to the trash and there is no food out on the counter. She is crate trained if she needs to be put into a cage. She has lots of energy and never refuses walks or playing in the back yard. I would recommend a fenced in back yard as she loves to run. She is fast and amazing to watch run around. She never fails to let you know when someone is outside and can seem intimidating to strangers but she isn't aggressive. I would keep her if we didn't have other animals and could give her all the attention she is craving. Please consider this beautiful girl if you have an animal free home and want to be loved. Also, she has her shots scheduled for Sept. 7th. She is already spayed and is chipped.

Story
Meet Anna Banana! Anna has been waiting 4 years (that's over 1,460 days!) for her happy forever. She is very much a special girl. See, Anna was rescued when she was barely 5 months old. She is what is called a bait dog. And although that's her past we refuse to allow it to determine her future. Because of Anna's history she is terrified and lacks trust and skills with dogs (and rightfully so!). Anna has been around dogs all her life but she just can't shake her past. So a home of her own would be best, no other pets. She can and has coexisted with dogs here at the sanctuary but if a dog moves too fast or unexpectedly she panics, fight or flight kicks in and flight is not always her choice. So we feel it's best for her to be an only pet in the home. It will be easier for her and her future family. Anna loves all people but can be a bit unsure at first, however, she warms up very quickly. Anna loves cuddles and snuggles. She enjoys car rides and outings and trailing and hiking. She can be active and adventurous when needed but does not mind staying in and binge watching Netflix and pigging out (her favorite snack is popcorn!). Truly, she just wants to be where her people are. Did I mention she is a huge snuggle bug? Yes, she's extremely affectionate and wears her heart on her paw and is willing to share her love with anyone and everyone. Anna loves warm, cuddly blankets and fun, squishy toys. Anna would do best in any loving environment who can offer her comfort and security and unlimited cuddles. A fenced in yard is a must, daily walks and the occasional fun outdoor activities. We believe Anna would be just fine with well mannered, mature children that would enjoy a snuggle buddy. Story
Meet Doc McMurphy (or Murphy for short). Murphy came to us from a rural shelter system and is around 5 to 7 years old and a pittie mix. Who wants to foster or adopt Murphy? He is so ready for his forever home! Kids would be so good for him as he LOVES LOVES LOVES them. He may not be able to see clearly, or hear much, but he can sense children and their joyful energy and happy spirit; this makes Murphy so happy! He thrives with any human attention. He just simply loves all people of all ages. No cats and no dogs due to his recent loss of hearing... Otherwise he's perfect! Did we mention he LOVES kids... He loves to play and interact! Murphy does fine and is adjusting well. He needs some guidance so he doesn't boink his noggin but he has a halo harness that will come with him. He gets around very well without difficulties. He is able to remember his layout quickly with not much effort. Murphy's 2019 hope is for a home... He'll take all the humans he can get. ? Did we mention he LOVES CHILDREN?! Story
Miley is a very cute little beagle. She was my ex-fiancé's dog. When we decided to end our relationship, he was going to take her to the pound so I decided to keep her. Since then she isn't getting along with my dog, so it would probably be best if she was the only dog, unless you can help her overcome her issues. I am willing to keep her as long as it takes to find her a good home where she will be loved and cared for. She is prone to ear infections, so she takes medicine daily in both ears. I still have some that I will give to her future owners. She loves to play with toys, doesn't walk on a leash very well, and will dart out an open door if you give her the chance. She's a little chubby, so she doesn't get too far before she tires of running. She is used to having a fenced in yard, so I'm hoping her future owners have one as well, but it's not a must, I just can't say how she'll do otherwise. She doesn't bark much in the house, unless she sees something outside.
