Story
Hi, my name is Pollo. What's yours? Anyway, nice to meet ya! Hey! Before you get attached to me, read all the way to the bottom. You will see that I am still in Houston, TX but I want to get OUT of Houston and OUT of Texas so I can have a really good life. I want to see Texas in my rear view mirror. A nice person came along and took me in and, now, I am ready to hit the road to your house! Uh, make that “our” house, OK? As soon as you adopt me, I’ll be on my way to you! I am very excited to find my forever home. I'm a good boy. You'll see! Wanna hear more good stuff about me? OK, here goes. I am a friendly boy. I love kids and adults and other doggies. Though, I would do best in a home by myself as I get jealous and want to be the center of attention. I would love to go on play dates to run around with other dogs and play. And, I love to play. I mean, who doesn't? I love to run and I am very energetic but I can also calm down and cuddle on the couch. I have been through a basic obedience course and I just want to please! I am a very cuddly boy. So get ready to cuddle with me. OK? What do ya' say? Huh? I LOVE my peeps! I am AMAZING in my kennel and am very crate trained. My foster mom loves me SO much that she only wants me to fly to my new home even if a pet transport truck was available. See my adoption information below. If you would like to take me home (and you know you do), please email westhoustonanimalrescue@yahoo.com and she can get me on my way to a new and loving home! My adoption fee is $650 USD and includes my vetting, neutering, microchip, health certificate, travel crate AND transportation on United Airlines from Houston, TX to areas in the Northeast U. S., North Central U. S., Northwest U. S., and Canada and will be arranged by the rescue group. (This is a courtesy posting.)

I'm a big goofy guy and I love people! However I am VERY strong and will need a handler that can control me on leash until I can be taught some manners. I can be picky about my dog friends and I can be a bully at times. KVHS is suggesting I live with no other pets. I must go home with a family that has time to train to me. I also would prefer a home with no children under 12 years old, as i can be pushy.Thank you so much for your interest in Winston! Our veterinary team has recently determined that Winston will need two FHO surgeries on his rear legs. The cost of each of these surgeries is estimated at $3,000-5,000. KVHS has committed to the first surgery, as they must be done one at a time. We are looking for an adopter who can commit to making sure the other surgery happens when Winston has fully recovered from the first. We will be checking veterinarian references to ensure that this sweet guy finds a home able to support his specific needs. Are you interested in learning more?please email:customerservice@pethavenlane.org

Story
This 9-10 yr old girl came to me as a foster almost a year ago, from a kill shelter. I quickly found out she does not like most other dogs, and also was untrusting of my cats for several months (now mostly okay, though unpredictable). I love this girl, as she is super sweet, loves to be at your side, or even on your lap all day long. But, there are 3 other dogs in the house, one of which is a dominant male who also likes to be in control. So, I have spent nearly a year holding onto a leash all day long, every day, inside the house, to manage her. I am pretty sure she never lived with other animals before, nor ever got socialized. She is a 1-person dog. I am pretty sure she prefers females, and does not trust males. She will make a great companion for an older, single woman who is at home most of the day (retired, or works/stays at home). Her new owner MUST be experienced with handling 'issue' dogs, that without proper management, can be hurtful toward other animals, or humans.

Story
Blue is 3 years old and is a love bug. I got him from a litter of pups that my cousins dog had. HD came home to a "big brother" named Chevy who is 9. They have always got along for the most part, despite their age difference except for when it.comes to food/treats. Blue has been very food aggressive from the day I got him. I tried very hard to break him of growling when anyone is near him when hes eating but have been unsuccessful. He has also on several occasions attacked Chevy for no reason while we are eating dinner as a family. Blue needs a home with no other animals and probably no small children as I dont think he would hesitate to try to.take their food when eating. He needs a home where he will.get.lots of attention and with room to run. Since moving and starting a new job working over nights I can't give him.the time he needs and deserves. I hope to find someone who can.

Story
I started off watching Abby (3yrs old) and her sister whenever her parents went on vacation. Abby started not getting along with her sister for reasons we nobody knows. Her mom needed to find somewhere for her to go because it was too hard for them to keep both her and her sister. Since she was familiar with me, I offered to take her. It wasn't until afterwards that they told me she doesn't like men. Not to the point where she'll attack, she just growls and runs. Not to mention now she has separation anxiety so it's hard to leave her alone. My boyfriend has tried many ways of getting her used to him. It's gotten a teeny tiny bit better but with our long schedules, it's just stressing us out since I'm the only one who can take care of her. The last thing I want is to give her up, but her mom and I know she'll be better off in a home with just women and cats. No other dogs. She is such a sweetheart and deserves to go to a home where she'll be happy!
