Story
COURTESY LISTING Please contact Abigail directly if interested in Cooper or have any questions abigailannehedgecock@gmail.com I recently adopted a White Lab named Cooper and he is delightful. He is 2 years and 3 months old and full of cuddles to give. He likes to be around people that he knows and trusts--he'll loyally follow them around, lay at their feet, lick their toes, and play tag. Cooper enjoys car rides, music, peanut butter, his crate, laying in front of a fan for naps, and being able to run freely for short periods of time. Cooper has an abusive history and is weary of strangers and other dogs. He may take a while to warm up to strangers, but after he bonds with his humans--he's inseperable. He is an incredibly smart dog. He is house trained and knows the commands place, sit, stay, and lay down. Cooper has severe anxiety, a damaged windpipe, stenotic nares (narrow nostrils), and a fairly common condition, bililous vomiting syndrome (BVS). His anxiety usually causes him to be weary of strangers/dogs, to pace, and to have night terrors. Due to his damaged windpipe and stenotic nares, Cooper breathes a bit more labored than others, can't exercise for long periods of times, and doesn't like to have things tight around his neck. In regards to his BVS, Cooper must eat 4x/day in order to keep his stomach bile from bothering him. He has not thrown up in a while, but if not treated, he will throw up 1-3x/week. Some things I have used to mitigate the above conditions include: crating him, giving him anti-anxiety treats and medications as needed, limiting exercise to 5 minute intervals, preventing him from overheating, hydrating him, giving him a twice daily digestive enzyme, using a wifi feeder for his 4 regularly scheduled meals a day, and giving him an occasional over the counter anti-acid medication. I have a seizure disorder that requires me to sleep more than what Cooper's feeding and toileting schedule demands. Since adopting Cooper, I've had an increase in seizures and have been generally unwell. I also work 12 hour shifts 3x a week and realize that this is not conducive to Cooper's anxiety or eating needs. Cooper truly is an excellent dog. He is kind, smart, goofy, and gentle, but I am afraid that I am neglecting him. He will take a while to warm up to someone new, but once he does... he's delightful. When adopted, he has an automatic wifi feeder, water fountain, toys, bed, crate, tick and flea medication, food, and anxiety medication that can come with him. Please let me know if you have any questions and thank you for considering adopting this sweet boy Abigail abigailannehedgecock@gmail.com Rehoming fee and vet reference required.

Story
Hello my name is Oreo I am 5 years old and a female Staffordshire Terrier mix per my paperwork. I was pulled from Harris County Animal Shelter in Houston TX on my last day to live because my time was up. My owner dumped me right before Christmas at the shelter and I waited and waited and they never came back for me. I had a skin infection, an upper respiratory infection and also tested positive for microflaria (baby heart worms). I am waiting on my new family to choose me now while I wait in boarding doggie daycare near Salisbury NC. I am not sure what I did wrong for my owner to take me to the shelter because my people say I’m so sweet and loving. I am happy now that I feel better and I love to play fetch. I just love for someone to pay me attention and play with me since I really haven’t had that kind of affection. I love every human, kid and dog that crossed my path and I’m a gentle girl. I was kenneled with other dogs and dog friendly. I'm not sure if I am cat friendly or not since I'm not sure if I have even seen one. I am a medium size girl and only weigh 55 pounds. I am HW positive but my rescue has started my treatment and will continue to pay for my meds and tests until I test negative. I will be retested in 6 months. I am micro-chipped, UTD on shots, and available for adoption now. I promise to be a good girl and I hope you promise to never dump me in another shelter. That place is really scary and I never want to go back. Please contact my rescue to come meet me. Love Oreo

Story
Hello my name is Wilson I was found as a stray wandering the streets of Houston TX searching for food and a warm place to lay my head. Animal Control picked me up and took me to the noisy place where there lots if other dogs like me that was scared crying and barking. It was obvious to the humans there that I had been on my own for some time but I was still trusting and only wanted someone to make me feel safe. A nice lady doing videos came to my kennel and I was laying in the floor shaking so bad she thought I was having a seizure so she opened my kennel door and came sat with me. I immediately got up off the floor and went to her for security and love. She spent a long time in my kennel and then contacted my rescue about me. The next day the lady came back for me and I left there and went to doggie daycare and then to the doctor because I had kennel cough. The people there are nice to me but I really want my own real family and a nice warm soft bed to lay on. I am waiting on transport to NC on February 28th. I will be in boarding there until a foster or adopter can be found for me. I would really like to have a warm home with lots of toys and people who will give me hugs and love me forever. I am 2 years old, heart worm negative and currently on preventives. I am so a shy boy but warm up quickly. Just speak to me in a soft voice and let me crawl up in your lap to know I’m safe. Will you please share me so I can get to my rescue and find my forever family everyone keeps talking about? They told me once that family is found I will get to live indoors and never go hungry ever again. Love Wilson

Story
Hello my name is Belo, I was found as a stray and picked up by animal control and my people never came for me. I was urgent when my hold time was up and I kept hearing the people at this noisy place talking about my 'last day' and how scared I was. I wasn't sure what was going on but all of these sad dogs was coming in because their owners were going away for Christmas and the shelter got really full all of a sudden. They were scared just like me so we say and waited. I was kenneled with several other dogs and was scared to death. Everyone was being chosen but me so I sat in the back of my kennel away from the door and worried. I kept looking for my family and finally gave up and was defeated. I knew they weren't coming for me. My rescue seen me online and that I only had to 5pm that day to live so they tagged me! I was so happy and relieved when this nice lady in the lobby took me to her car and told me I was safe. My rescue pulled 13 dogs that day and I am so glad I was one of them. I am now at doggie boarding near Salisbury NC waiting on my rescue to find a foster or adopter for me. I am 3 years old and fully vetted. I am heart worm negative and currently on preventives. I am a sweet girl and smile a lot since I'm out. I like to run and play with my doggie friends too. I do chase cats so I need a home without kitty cats. Will you please share me so I can find my forever family that everyone keeps talking about where I will get to live indoors and never go hungry ever again. They said I will always be loved and get lots of attention and will make sure the family who adopts me loves me as much as they love me. Please contact me rescue if you want to come meet me. Love Belo

Story
Hello my name Willow I was surrender along with my sister Weney because my family was going away for Christmas. We are good girls and didn’t understand why we couldn’t go with them. We were both urgent since we were owner surrenders and could have been killed at any time. I wasn't sure what was going on but all of these sad dogs were coming in because their owners were going away for Christmas and the shelter got really full all of a sudden. They were scared just like Weney and I so we sat and waited. I was kenneled with several other dogs including my sister and was scared to death. Everyone was being chosen but us but of course we are black dogs and we get overlooked. We kept looking for our family but finally gave up. I knew they weren’t coming back for us. My rescue seen us online and knew we only had until 5pm that day to live so they tagged us. I was so happy and relieved when this nice lady in the lobby took me to her car and told me I was safe along with my sister. I am so a shy boy but warm up quickly. Just speak to me in a soft voice and let me crawl up in your lap to know I'm safe. I still have hair loss but I was seen at the vet and have taken medicine and take a medial bath once a week now. I am getting better because I had to take two baths a week before. It’s nothing contagious that other doggies or people can catch and my rescue will pay my bills for me if adopted before my hair comes back in the spots it’s thin. It mainly on my sides, back and tail but please don’t pass me by because of that. Hair grows back and my rescue said I would be good as new soon. Will you please share me so I can find my forever family everyone keeps talking about where I will get to live indoors and never go hungry ever again. I can also go to a foster home as well so contact my rescue to come meet me! Love Grunt
