Story
Gray is a energetic puppy he will be 1 on March 10th! He loves to be outside and run play fetch. He would be a good hunting dog? But would need to be trained. At this time we just can’t give him what he needs. He needs to be in the country but does good in town leashed trained. Some time we would take him back. If things didn’t work out. We just want him to be happy and be able to be outside more. Hope someone is interested. Thank you!

I know that there seems to be a lot of restrictions here on my profile, but don’t let that scare you. I promise I’m the sweetest dog around! Everyone tells me so. I have so much love to give! I’m SUPER smart. I love to do tricks and I listen so well. And I LOVE to love my humans. I love my humans so much that I get so excited to see them even if they’re only gone a few seconds. And don’t get me started on bedtime – I love to cuddle in the covers. Humans are just the best! Except the really little humans scare me and I prefer to not be around them, so a home with older children would make me the most comfortable. The same goes for other pets -- I prefer to have my humans all to myself (you know, because I love them so much.) They call me a “One-der” dog – get it? Because I’m wonderful! I swear, us One-der dogs are just as friendly and loving as other dogs (maybe even BETTER....) Please give me a chance to prove it to you! Are you my forever family? I sure hope so.    12/26/18: Have you been missing the perfect welcome home committee in your life? Feeling sad when you walk in the door and there is no one excited to see you? Well, look no further! Nyx is the perfect dog for you! Nyx is always happy to see you when you walk through the door. Even if you've only been gone for 30 seconds to check the mail!  Nyx is so smart; she can do several tricks and I have no doubt she could learn more. She communicates so well. She actually will "remind" me when she needs to take her meds. I think it's about peanut butter "treat" for her. Nyx isn't a cuddler but definitely as a lot of love to give. Unless it's bedtime, then she'll crawl right in the covers with you. Nyx doesn't do well with other pets or small children. She does bark when someone is at the door. A family home with a fenced-in yard where she can play will be best for her. 12/18/18: Nyx is very sweet. She communicates so well; she actually will "remind" me when she needs to take her meds. I think she knows when it's about time for her peanut butter treat. Nyx loves to snuggle under the covers at bedtime.  She needs a home without other pets and she does bark, so I don't think she would do well in an apartment. All the commotion would stress her out too much. Nyx has a couple of tricks; she can sit, lay down, spin and shake. She is so, so smart! This little sweetie is so special.  10/3/18: Nyx would benefit with a family that has a backyard. She likes to patrol the perimeter and check things out. She can get some exercise herself but would also benefit from someone that will go out and play with her or take her on walks. She needs exercise of some kind. Nyx needs to be in a home with no other dogs or cats or small children. She is perfectly content to hang out where you are but doesn't feel the need to follow you everywhere you go. She is house trained and kennel trained. I would not leave her out loose in the house as I believe this makes her anxious. Nyx doesn't have accidents but if left out she will get into trouble. She does fine in her crate during the day if we have to be gone. She doesn't run into the kennel if you tell her it's time to get in her kennel but she also doesn't fight you when you put her in. She doesn't have accidents in her kennel.  Nyx is very loving in her own way. She's not a snuggler, except at bedtime, but shows affection and "hugs" you with her head. It's weird but so sweet. I think she wants to snuggle but just doesn't know how to relax her body. She likes to hang out and watch TV and she snuggles up in bed. She shakes when she is excited but it doesn't seem to be a negative thing, just too much adrenaline. Click here to watch a video of Nyx.To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org

Frostee is doing GREAT with potty training and cries at the door to go outside!  We have had her for 3 days and she hasn't even had an accident!  We are working on kennel training, but she is doing well for being such a young puppy.  Frostee is a sweet, easy puppy.  We especially love her dots on her nose that are in the shape of a question mark!  She would be a wonderful addition to your family.   To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org

June is such a good girl; she’s a great house-guest and only asks for plenty of cuddle and couch-time with fuzzy blankets, and to have one of her beloved stuffed animals on hand to cuddle with (any photos of her with a stuffed animal are not staged – it’s ridiculously cute).  I believe the stuffed animals are a bit of a safety blanket as she does struggle with anxiety.  I don’t think June's anxiety is due to her life before the rescue, I just believe she struggles with it as many humans do.  Maybe you can relate or know someone who also struggles.  I waited to provide feedback on her time with me as we have been working with a vet to start her on anti-anxiety medication.  It took some time to get in her system and I’ve noticed a difference as it seems to take the edge off. June’s anxiety is easy to forget about as when she is with someone, she is the happiest girl, so chill and quiet and great in the car – she is such a good listener.  But she does struggle with being left alone.  We are working to help her be more comfortable being alone for short timeframes, however, she may always need extra attention and understanding to manage this. How sweet is June?  She accidentally cut her lip a few weeks ago and they had to sedate her briefly to add a couple of staples.  When the vet and vet tech brought me back into the room, they were both chuckling as apparently June, although sedated, never stopped wagging her tail through the whole procedure.  When getting the staples removed, she was so good, they didn’t have to sedate her again.  On my days off, she allows me to sleep in until as late as 7:30 but no later – like an alarm clock she comes and gently wakes me up so she can have her breakfast on time – it’s quite adorable.  When going outside, June sometimes brings a stuffed animal – if she forgets to bring it back in, I ask her “where’s your toy” and she immediately runs back out to grab it and bring it inside with her.  Another volunteer had her over for several hours one day and June and her son became best friends instantly – she just fell in love with him and he would join her in watching out the window so she didn’t miss anything. June really needs a special family with someone who understands a little about anxiety or is willing to learn to help her.  Her ideal home would be with someone who is retired, or works from home, or otherwise can make sure she isn’t alone very much – she just loves people (all people) so much it’s hard for her to be without them.   10/7/19: Miss June is a bundle of cuteness and anxiety. June has some separation anxiety. If she's crated and home alone, we've noticed that she tries to gnaw the wire kennel and will bust her way out through the weak spots. If she is going to be left alone, it should be kept to short lengths of time or benefits from a dose of her anxiety medication. I have brought June with to work and she LOVES saying hello to all my coworkers. She goes from office to office, waddling her way down the hallways, spinning in circles when someone wants to pet her and gives gentle little kisses to anyone that sits down next to her. After she has said hello to everyone, she curls up on her blanket in my office and takes a snooze. June has seemed to appreciate having the time where she can just let her mind relax and enjoy cuddle time with her humans when she is comfortable. Are you looking for a sweet as pie companion to brighten your day, no matter the weather? Do you or someone you know, struggle with anxiety and understand that animals can have anxiety too? Miss June would love to meet you!  9/19/19: June is an expert cuddler; at bedtime, she will wriggle up alongside you, lick you and tuck her nose under your pillow. When relaxing, she will lean into you for pets or lay down on top of you for a nice snooze.  6/25/19: June went to Fargo's StreetsAlive event this past weekend and was thoroughly loving life! She had a constant smile across her face and didn't react to any of the wild sounds from the event, including runners, bikers, skateboarders, kids or any of the dogs that barked at her from their backyards. She just kept on struttin' her stuff and happily beached herself when we got home for the rest of the night.  6/16/19: June has a lust for life and a sweet soul. She gets so excited when you tell her she can jump up to join you on the couch and leans back to look at you with that loving Pittie smile. She proudly keeps the neighborhood safe by chasing away the squirrels and we found out that under that pretty coat of hers is a wannabe Dalmatian.  Miss June would do best in a home with a family that will understand her anxiety. The first week she was with us, she was panting constantly and had a hard time relaxing. She was prescribed an "as needed" anxiety medication that has really been helping her.   6/4/19: Oh, Miss June! June has been with us for about a week and is such a darling. When you look at her and call her name, she immediately perks up, waddles over and leans into you for pets and belly rubs. She has excellent manners and is crate/potty trained.  June loves spending time outside soaking up the sun (with a little baby sunscreen for her sweet face). At night, she sleeps on the dog bed or on the floor. She's slowly been more comfortable cuddling with us, but I think it will take her a little while to learn the art of cuddling. To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org

She is doing well at waiting patiently on her rug for me to put the leash on her to go outside. She sits on the same rug and waits while I dish up her meals. She has a separate spot for chewing on chew bones (and the occasional toy). Bizzy keeps the bones on the rug so she doesn't slobber all over the furniture. I don't kennel her during the workday anymore. She doesn't cause any trouble while she is left out. Bizzy is an over the top EXPERT snuggler, especially when it's colder out. She will sit in my lap for hours on end.  Bizzy garnered some national attention along with the rescue recently for being featured on beer cans at Fargo Brewing Company. She was all over the internet with thousands of shares. She was even featured on a segment on NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt. So you would be adopting a snuggling meatball of a star if you adopted Bizzy. #NBCNightlyNews 8/23/19: Bizzy has been loving summer! She is having an absolute blast going for long walks and runs. She loves getting pets from the people she meets. She is also really good at moving along if the interest isn't mutual. Bizzy has met many people telling her they want to adopt her, but she still remains without a true life companion, she wants someone or a family to spend her life with!!!! Bizzy got to walk in the Pride Parade in downtown Fargo this fall; she had the time of her life getting all the attention she could possibly soak up! After a nice exercise, a big day at a parade, or at a 4 Luv of Dog adoption event, Bizzy loves nothing more than to curl up on your lap or in your arms and snooze. She dreams of your home!!!! 5/27/19: Bizzy is doing super well in my apartment! She is able to spend a few hours alone without being kenneled. She still needs to stay in her kennel when I am gone for too long, but her behavior is pretty good! Bizzy still stays in her kennel like a champion while I am at work. The neighbors say she doesn't bark at all during the day. I let her look out my patio window all day long too. Her behavior, while I am home, is generally good as well; she just needs to exercise every day.  Bizzy has been doing really well with her manners. She will lay on her bed while I eat in the kitchen. She is learning to control her excitement when I take the leash out and stay seated by the door. She is very good seeing and going by dogs and people on walks. Bizzy is generally pretty good on her leash to the point that I can take her on skateboard rides with me. Cats and rabbits fleeing can get her a little amped up still, but it's easily managed.  Bizzy still hasn't had any accidents in my apartment. She sleeps into the night and most of the morning if she has the time, and she still loves to snuggle! Please consider this sweet girl as one of your own! 3/16/19:   Bizzy checking in here. My foster parent left the computer email open so I figured I would tell you about my life! Weekdays get to be a little boring, I spend most of the daytime hours during the week in my crate. I have been so good, I wonder if I need to be crated? I hear it's for my own safety, I guess. It's ok, I am super quiet. I pass the time by doing push-ups (it's how I stay super buff) and gnawing on my bone. I always get something tasty too in my crate, breakfast, dinner, or just a treat. Yum, yum! I LUV KIBBLE! I don't really like waking up early, and if my temporary human awakes to early I will take the spot on the bed and keep it warm, until going outside is offered. Honestly, I would take 12 hours of beauty rest a night if I could. But I guess the human has to go somewhere.  I have spent my whole life bouncing around from homes to the shelter. All the humans have told me that I am super sweet, and I do love meeting new people. The problem is I don't like sharing my home with any other dogs. My human calls me a "one-der"...ya I know I am Wonderful. My human doesn't want to keep me forever because my forever home is out there and the human wants to be able to help other dogs find their forever homes too. I will still cuddle and snuggle and be as sweet as I can be, looking for my forever home. Help us find my forever home please? Thanks for reading, wooof! Bizzy 2/18/19: Bizzy is doing really well; she has been a good dog here. She still stays in her kennel while I am away as she will take the liberty of chewing up anything soft or anything she might think is fun. She won't really do it while I am around as she gets toys (that don't last long) when she isn't crated and she is getting rewarded for nicely laying on blankets, so maybe we can call it a stage of her life? You will have to let me know. Bizzy is super treat-motivated. She will basically do anything for a single piece of her regular kibble. She would probably like to get bonkers and run around for a treat, but Bizzy also doesn't mind showing off her variety of tricks or even laying and patiently waiting in her kennel with the gate open. She is super smart. After a little exercise every day she likes to snuggle up on the couch and watch TV. Bizzy can be a serious cuddle bug. Bizzy can't have any other pets living with her, but she does just fine coming across other dogs out on walks. I hope we can find a great home for her real soon, so I can take in another foster dog! Plus Bizzy really wants a backyard to play! 1/27/19: I have had Bizzy for about two weeks now. She was super scared and not having very much fun at the shelter. She is doing so much better in my home. Bizzy kennels really well and she hasn't had any potty accidents. She needs and loves some play time every day but also ready for a big snuggle session after a game of fetch. Bizzy would love a big fenced yard to run around in and a nice comfy couch and lap to lay on afterward! Be Bizzy's hero! 10/22/18: Bizzy has come a long way! I am so proud of her!  Her barking only consists of when someone knocks on the door or she has a toy in her mouth and wants you to play with her. She has been super friendly and shown no hesitation when meeting new people. Bizzy absolutely loves to cuddle! She will snooze with you all day if you let her. She is also an excellent leg warmer at night in bed. Bizzy knows sit, down, shake and stay (though actually staying we are still working on).  She has to sit before she can eat her food, and she has to sit before she goes outside and before she can come back in. She is pretty solid and throws her body around being goofy. Bizzy LOVES being outside. A home with a fenced in yard would be perfect. She just has a lot of energy as she is still young. We are still learning how to walk on a leash; that will take some time. Bizzy would do best as an only dog as she is an attention queen and needs to be the center of her families lives. Whoever adds this absolute sweet pea to their human family will be one lucky person!  7/17/18: We continue to enjoy Bizzy’s fun-loving personality and big goofy smile. After getting to know her a little better, we have discovered that she seems to be more shy and cautious around new men. She seems interested in meeting new people but she wants to take her time to make sure they are safe. She has met several of our family members, friends, and neighbors and she has warmed up to them and seems comfortable. Giving Bizzy treats definitely helps win her over! We continue to work on having slow introductions to new men with lots of positive reinforcement. We have discovered that she does not do well in an apartment setting because of all the new people she may encounter in the hallways and it can be a little overwhelming for her. Bizzy has been doing well learning to walk nicely on a leash but she is very strong and gets overly excited if she sees another dog or animal. She’s a social butterfly and just wants to play! She also gets excited when it’s time to get out of her crate or when it’s time to eat. Bizzy is learning that it's polite to sit and wait and not jump up on people. We continue to work on fine-tuning her basic manners and Bizzy is a great student since she is very food motivated and also eager to please! 6/24/18: We have only had Bizzy in our home for 3 days and so far she has been a great house guest! We've found that she will usually bark & growl when she first meets someone new but she warms up quickly, especially if you give her treats! Bizzy had settled right into our family. Bizzy hasn't had any accidents in our home and she is kennel trained. She is always very happy to see us when we come home and her whole body shakes with excitement. Some of her favorite hobbies seem to be playing fetch and chewing bones.   Bizzy is a sweet and playful girl! Once she gets to know you, she will be the perfect sidekick!Click here to watch a video of Bizzy. To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org

He is potty trained and is learning quickly! He hated his kennel when we first got him and now most often he is very quiet in his kennel and he has been sleeping in it. Important to note that the first couple months he got along really well with our two resident dogs however the past month or two he has been developing a more aggressive playfulness which has led to some altercations with our other dogs. We have been keeping them separated due to this but we are working on his response as we think that this is him resource guarding of people. So we have been working with him on this and he has made improvements. When Spud is not around our other dogs he is very well-behaved. He listens well, he LOVES to snuggle with people and burrow under a blanket and he is a quick learner. Spud, at this time, may benefit from being the only pet in the home with older considerate children or would need to be alternated with other pets being separated. We are continuing to work on this issue with Spud and hopeful that it will resolve with further training since he has gotten along with dogs in the past. Spud is SO worth the effort and time. He is such a wonderful dog with the best ears and sock-puppet mouth 1/7/2020: If you love to snuggle, then Spud is your pup! He loves to snuggle up next to you and take naps. He is like having a little personal space heater. Spud is potty trained and he gets along well with our other two resident dogs. He loves to wrestle and play with them, then he tires out and takes a nap. He does have some anxiety being in a crate, however, he has improved a lot with this. We have been keeping him in a smaller plastic surround kennel instead of the wire crate because it has allowed his happy tail wound to heal and seems to work better for him. He knows simple commands like 'sit', 'stay', and 'come'. Spud does get excited when he meets new people and likes to give them a hug when he sees them. He is working on not jumping on people and is improving! Spud is such a sweetie and we think he looks a lot like Petey from Little Rascals mixed with the Target dog. Once you see his ears, your heart will melt!  This guy would be a perfect addition to any home   11/30/19: Boy is Spud a joy! You should really take the chance to meet this guy. At first, he seems a bit anxious in the kennel room but you get him out of the high-stress environment and he is a joy. First of all, his ears are enough to keep you smiling. Spud LOVES to cuddle, and chill and be by you. At night he snuggles in close and is so relaxed and wants to sleep it always breaks my heart to put him back. Take the time to meet this guy and you’ll have a forever loyal friend for life. 10/17/19: Ladies are you looking for a way to stay warm during this cold winter?? If so, look no further. I, Spud ‘the Stud', will keep you toasty warm with my warm, milky, white fur and chocolate brown eyes. I love nothing more than to snuggle with my humans. I really am a master snuggle-bear! I’m loving and affectionate and will curl up on your lap and plant kisses all over your face. Women fall head over heels for me and men want to be like me. Really! My hobbies other than cuddling include wrestling and long jump off the deck into the yard. I also love to race around and be free and can jump like an Olympic athlete (that’s why I need at least a 6-foot fence in my new backyard). Right now, I am in training to learn how to sit and stay, with an enticing treat as a motivator. The treat is great to get me to sit, occasionally, but there is just too much to do and see to sit there for too long such as…..rabbit, squirrel, bird. I enjoy toys, treats and mealtime so much, I think the food and all of the toys are mine and I like to make my foster brother share theirs with me. If they don’t share, I will take their toys and treats from them, and keep for myself. I do not like the wet stuff they call rain and snow, I prefer to stay indoors when that is falling from the sky. It’s too cold and wet to go out to do my business when this is happening. My foster mom says I have to go out and do my business, even when it’s raining or snowing. My foster fur brothers are showing me that it is ok to go out and do your business, but I’m still a little hesitant about their motives. I’m learning and getting better at going out, I just need a little more time and guidance from my foster fur brothers. I have tons of potential and will do great with some more training, I’m ready and willing to start ASAP. I don’t do well behind bars (kennel), I get a little scared and feel trapped, so my foster mom and dad have not been putting me in a kennel. At night, I sleep on the bed with my foster mom and foster fur brothers and during the day with my foster dad and fur brothers. When they are gone doing errands, I get a treat to keep me busy for a little while, and then my fur brothers and I play so hard! Then it's time to take a nap until foster mom and dad get home. I do not chew on the furniture (like my foster fur brothers do) so my foster mom and dad trust me enough not to kennel me. I have a lot of energy and love meeting new people, so it would be best if my new home had adults and older children only. Sometimes, I forget that I am big and can’t keep my energy to myself, I wouldn’t want to accidentally hurt anyone small. I would love my new home to have a large fenced yard and a fur brother or sister to play with and help burn my energy (an older human brother or sister would be a plus as well). I would not do well living in an apartment since I have so much energy and I need to have some space to run around. I’m not a picky eater, I will eat anything and everything whether it is on the floor or the counter; all food is fair game if it isn’t inside the cupboard or the fridge. I always clean my puzzle plate.  So, if you are looking to add another handsome dog to your family (I’m that dog!) then give a shout out to 4 Luv of Dog to set up a blind date to meet. Just so you know, I will do treats on the first date. I can’t wait to meet you!!      #meetspudthestud    9/28/19 Volunteer Feedback: Spud has been in the rescue a few weeks; he was pulled from a regional pound and unfortunately, we have not been able to get him into a foster yet. I can't understand why; he is such a great dog!  He is a nice size-on the small side of medium. And look at those ears!  He has a super fun personality and loves his people. Spud loves to have his butt scratched and will give you all the kisses you want. I've introduced him to quite a few dogs and he does so well. He is extremely dog-friendly and loves to play. Spud would love to have a dog buddy to run around with! He walks very nicely on a leash; no pulling and stays right by your side. He is very treat-motivated. Spud doesn't seem to know basic commands, but is picking up things very quickly and would be fun to take to an obedience class!  Please consider meeting Spud...you won't regret it!  9/25/19 Volunteer Feedback: Spud is one of those dogs who will steal your heart instantly. What an absolute sweetheart he is! He is such a beautiful dog – his adorable ears stick straight up and his coat is so soft. Multiple people have said he reminds them of "Petey" from The Little Rascals! Spud loves to be petted and has a whole lot of love to give. While spending time with him at the shelter, he wanted to be near me every chance he could get! The second I sat down, he hopped up right next to me and laid down to cuddle. While I was walking around cleaning, he followed everywhere with a big grin on his face. Spud would love to spend forever with you. Whichever home decides to be his forever home will be very, very lucky! 9/24/19 Volunteer Feedback: Spud is such a fun-loving boy, and just look at that handsome face and those adorable ears! I have been lucky enough to have a few shifts at the building with Spud and have loved getting to know this guy. He definitely likes to live in the moment and isn't afraid to have some fun. We were fortunate to have some sunshine today and Spud took full advantage of it and rolled around in the grass. He will definitely keep his forever home giggling at his fun personality. Spud does get a little excited, and he can jump so high, he could be on the next Olympic pole vault team. While he is a talented jumper, Spud is easily redirected into a sit when asked and is able to keep his feet on the floor after a quick reminder. Spud does great on walks and does well on a leash with a harness. He is also very treat-motivated. Please consider making Spud the next member of your family. Click here to watch a video of Spud.To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org
