Story
Scooter is a 7 year old 12 pound chi mix. He came to us from the Dominican Republic. He’s neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations. Scooter is an absolute doll, as sweet as they come. This little boy has a heart of gold. He’s great with dogs and cats. Scooters back legs are a little weak from an old injury, but that doesn’t stop him. He loves to go for walks and or just cuddle with his person. Scooter is a medium energy boy who just wants to do whatever you’re doing. He’s not terribly shy, enjoys meeting new ppl and he’s not much of a barker. Personality wise this boy is a 10:) If you’re interested in learning more about scooter please fill out an application @ www.projectpawsdogrescue.com

Story
Sophie is a 14-month-old saluki mix, her whole world as she knew it changed when she came here from Kuwait. Everything comfortable and familiar to her disappeared, needless to say everything terrified her. Sophie struggled just to have the courage to walk through the neighbourhood. All of the new sounds and people were a lot to take in at once. She was fearful of the kids playing basketball, people on bikes and especially passing cars. All she wanted to do was run and hide She’s great with dogs and cats, She would benefit from having a confident dog in the house to guide her. Sophie is looking for an adult only home, with an experienced dog savvy adopter to help her continue to build confidence. Sophie is being fostered in Toronto where she is slowly being exposed to new things. She is even going to doggy day care every day. We are so proud of her progress. She is doing well on leash, once she’s comfortable walks right beside you. She Knows to sit and wait For your ok command before crossing the street. Sophie has completed her six week course of obedience training and knows basic commands. Her biggest hurdle to still overcome is her fear of strangers. She has issues with strangers coming in her house. She will bark and growl, even more so if she does not have a confident, fearless leader. ( no bite history) She will also do this with her new adopter until she gets to know you. This is why it is imperative that her adopter be fearless of dogs and confident. For this reason Sophie must go to an adult only home. Once Sophie is comfortable she is an absolute love bug. Bulldog

Female, 8 yrs 9 mos

Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details

Story
Bella is an approx 3 year old bulldog mix. She was surrendered because family had a baby and she growled at it. So, no children for this girl. In foster, Bella is "lovely" (but it should be noted that her foster does not let her get away with anything, the foster is the boss!). She is getting along with other dogs (she walks with them, but has a separate level to live in). She apparently used to live with a cat (but we have not seen her interact with cats while we have had her). She walks very well on leash. Bella should go to a home with Bulldog experience. Due to her past, she will need to be monitored for guarding/possessive behaviours, and anything along these lines will need to be corrected early on. Bella can certainly be a bossy dog, and needs to be kept "in check". She will become dominant if given the chance. For these reasons, she needs an adult only home, and one where owners will not let her have control. Bella is an absolute sweetheart, and a cuddly girl...she just needs an experienced and firm owner so that she can always be her best self.

Blue Heeler Basenji

Story
Cooper is now neutered, microchipped, updated on vaccinations, and ready for his forever home. (our breed decision is a best guess) Cooper is in foster with 5 other active dogs, and having a great time. Foster reports that he is a great listener, comes in and out with no issues, eats with her dogs, likes affection from people, and "chills" well when needed (after lots of exercise of course). He is being crate trained. He is a super sweet boy. Cooper seems a bit too interested in the cat, so would do best in a home without little creatures. We just tested him with children and he does not react well to them. We suspect he has never encountered children before, as he LOVES all the adults he has met. We are looking for adopters who are willing to keep Cooper active and occupied. He will make a great pet for the right fit family.
