Story
Meet Churro, Churro came to Revolutionary Rescue after he was turned in to the Cambridge Humane Society as a stray. Churro was very scared, withdrawn and reluctant to humans. Shelter staff reached out for a rescue as they knew he would not thrive in the shelter setting. When Churro arrived in foster care he was greeted by 2 other Chihuahuas, a Golden Retriever mix and 2 resident cats. Churro was not house trained, leash trained and had very poor manners with other dogs. We are happy to report that after weeks of foster care Churro is a brand new dog. Churro's new home will provide a child free, structured environment with someone who has experience with small dog behavioral issues. (Potty training, jumping on/in people and other animals personal space, fear biting). Although, small, Churro LOVES to be active. He requires daily walks to help burn out his peppy energy. Churro would excel with a family who is home more often than not and is looking to have a dog join in on all their adventures. As with most Chihuahuas they bond very closely to their person and love to cuddle on the couch. Churro is very affectionate and is happiest when he can be as close to you as possible. Churro does bark at new people but warms up quickly. Churro is being trained using positive reinforcement and has shown vast improvements in his behaviour because of it. We will be looking for a very specific home so Churro can find his perfect match. Churro's new home will provide the following: -Daily meaningful walks -Structured positively reinforced in home lifestyle -No young children -No large dogs -Home more often than not -Willing to continue feeding a healthy raw diet and daily supplements -On going crate training Applicants with the following will be given preference: -Positive reinforcement/force free experience -Work from home -Experience working with small breeds -Have fed a balanced raw diet If you are interested in adopting CHURRO please ensure you have read through our adoption process thoroughly. All interested applicants must fill out an adoption application in order to advance in the adoption process. We thank everybody for the interest however we will only contact you if your application has passed initial screening. At Revolutionary Rescue our main focus is to find our dogs a perfect long last match for life. Story
Monet | 2 years old | 35lbs | Fostered in Etobicoke Have you ever met a dog as happy as Monet? She is always happy and playful. She LOVES life and her favourite things to do include walks, playing with her toys and chasing her tail and shadow. Monet was born in the Dominican Republic. She is albino and has microphthalmia (her eyes didn’t develop properly and she is half deaf). She is looking for a family who knows that she is not going to let this stop her from living her best life! To her, life is an adventure and she can’t wait to explore the world, even rushing her foster mum to put her jacket on quicker! Although she doesn’t climb into the car on her own, she will happy be carried into the car. Once the car is moving, she is very calm, often taking a power nap until you get to where you are going. Monet currently goes to work with her foster Mum (who works at an animal hospital) where she gets to be around other dogs all the time. She does well with dogs of all sizes but has not been tested with cats. When things get busy, she is crated and quickly falls asleep, showing no signs of anxiety at being left alone. In fact, she loves her crate, sometimes taking a toy into it for some quiet playtime during the day. At night, she voluntarily goes to her crate and settles in for the night. Monet thrives with routine. She currently gets 4 walks a day, with the first and last walks of the day being the longest and the two middle ones being mostly bathroom breaks. Before her foster parents leave for a few hours, she is taken for a 20-30 minute walk but she usually does her business within the first 10 minutes! She then settles happily in her crate for a nap, waking up immediately when the crate door is opened to shower her foster mum with kisses! Since Monet can only see shadows, she gets nervous around dark coloured objects such as cars or people with black jackets. She won’t bark or attack them, but will freeze for a few seconds and then will continue to walk. She is always happy to meet new people, starting off shy and quickly warming up to them, getting comfortable after just a few minutes. She has not been tested with infants and toddlers, however has met older children and gets along well with them. When it comes to meeting new dogs (in her space), she can get jealous at first. She will sometimes growl in warning. However, after a few hours, she will either become friends with them or just leave them alone. Some of the things on Monet's wish list for her forever home: - Patient Humans who understand it may take some time and creativity to help her understand what is expected of her - Toys - Someone who loves going for walks and is looking for a partner for their adventures - A fully fenced back yard so she can play to her heart’s content - Toys - Lots of love and cuddles - Did we mention toys? Monet said that was very important! Monet has been spayed, microchipped and up to date on her vaccines. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. DOG LOCATION: Ajax, ON.   Luke is a typical poodle full of energy, does the poodle nudge/poke and lifts your hand for a rub and is very affectionate.  Luke is high energy and requires lots of exercise, he currently gets 3 walks a day for a total of 10 km (1 in the morning, 1 at noon and 1 in the evening).  This allows Luke to settle nicely in the house and curl up in his favorite corner.  Luke is good with people and enjoys the interaction and is happy to see them.  He has is favorite people when out walking, and will lean up against them for scratches behind his ears.  However, he is not a match for small children as he gets too interested in their play and is too rough when joining in.  He has no idea of his size and still thinks he is a puppy. He is selective with other dogs and would probably do well in a home of his own or with a calm dog or senior dog.  Luke is learning how to play / engage play properly, this is a work in progress.  If a dog does not want to play with him, after a couple of attempts, he will back off.   He is quite calm on a leash, however, certain dogs make him anxious, in particular, ones that stare him down.  In a situation like that, it is important to keep him on a short leash so that he does not get behind you and start head-butting you.  Otherwise he walks by others dogs quite calmly.  He has gotten much better with squirrels (now he just prances by), no interest in birds, but does try to get at the rabbits.     Luke is a pleasure to have in the home, his foster home trusts him 100% when left alone.  He is a quiet boy during the day, which is a bonus if you work from home.  At night, he curls up on the corner of the bed, and doesn't move until you're ready to get up.  He loves bed time and will go up without you if you are taking too long to go to bed.  In the mornings, he waits patiently for when you're ready to take him out; even when you put the leash on, he is quite calm.  He is also very compliant in having his paws washed and dried after his walks and lifts his legs comically high for them to be dried off. When Luke is hungry, he will make it very clear that it is mealtime by rattling his dog dish and looking at you expectantly.   In the backyard, he like to do a swan dive off the deck where it seems like he is flying in midair.  He  loves to chase his ball and bring it back in exchange for another one.  He loves to race around the backyard and then get a reward for coming back inside.  Because he loves the backyard so much, it is only fair that his forever home have a fully fenced backyard.  Again, he has a high prey drive and likes to chase squirrels, rabbits, mice, etc.   We firmly believe that what helps Luke be such a good-boy are his regular walks, the more the better in his opinion.  His foster has been taking him on occasional runs, he has very few pit stops and loves the quicker pace.    He is a high energy boy and will require a family willing to continue his training.  If you're interested in Luke please email us to start the conversation. Please note we require an adoption application be completed before meeting any of our dogs. Luke's adoption fee is $450.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.DOG LOCATION:  Courtice, ON.   Barkley is an adorable, 8 year old, miniature poodle. He is a shy little guy and a bit reserved when meeting new people.  He prefers to be handled on his own terms.  But once he sees that you are ok, he loves to cuddle up in your lap.  Barkley feels more confident when people are sitting as opposed to standing.  Barkley's foster family has been working on his house training and say that he is 80% - 90% there.  He will require a regular routine to keep him on schedule.  He requires supervision when going outside to do his business.  Barkley shares his foster home with other dogs and a cat.  Barkley would do well if he shares his home with another confident dog, as he takes many of his cues from the other dogs in his foster home.  Most of all he love snuggling and playing with the other dogs.   Barkley does walk well on leash and requires some work on his recall. If you are interested in learning more about Barkley please email us to start the conversation. Barkley's adoption fee is $450. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.DOG LOCATION: Killaloe, ONTARIO. Valen is a beautiful boy. A gentle soul and a dog who truly needed rescuing. We are here for Valen and now we're looking for his forever champion. Someone who is willing to get to know this sweet dog on his time, letting Valen decide how fast the relationship progresses. You see, Valen came to us afraid of humans; terrified really. Too scared to eat when we're around, shutting even the softest noise or smallest movement, so terrified of human touch that he would urinate as soon as he felt our touch. He'd never lived in a house, known a soft bed, abundant food, clean water.  He rehabilitation has been painstakingly slow, requiring hours of patience. But the reward has been great. Just to see any bit of acceptance, maybe even happiness, from Valen is enough to make your heart soar! We're seeing glimpses of a dog who is now recognizing joy and good things in life.  Valen is now searching for his forever champion. That person or family who is willing and able to give him the best life he can have. Who lives in the country, has a fully fenced yard with a fence at least 6 feet tall, who has another dog and who is quiet and gentle. Someone willing to help Valen continue to learn about the big, scary world, but who is also willing to meet him where he is and accept him for who he is. Valen loves to go for walks but only the nature kind as sidewalks and streets are just too intimidating for him right now.  If you would like to be loved by this great dog, please email us to begin the conversation. Please note we require everyone to complete an adoption application prior to meeting any of our dogs. An adoption fee will apply. Valen is being fostered near Ottawa, Ontario    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.DOG LOCATION: Vancouver, BC.  Meet Divo, he has settled in well with his foster family and the resident dog.  He is such a gorgeous and wonderful.  He came to us a little on the thin side, so we introduced him to a raw food diet and he is already gaining weight. Divo his high energy, slightly nervous and may have some anxiety.  Divo does get excited when seeing other dogs and squirrels / rabbits.  So we are working on getting him to focus on us.  However, once we introduced him to physical exercise and some mental stimulation games, he is proving to be a wonderful poodle and so willing to learn.   Divo requires a home that is willing to work with him to help him become the best dog that he can be.  Leash training is required to keep his focus on you.  We think Divo would be a great candidate for trailing, agility and rally-obedience. He must go to a home with a securely fenced yard.    If you are interested in meeting him please email us to start the conversation. Please note that we will require you to complete an application prior to meeting him.  Divo is being fostered near Vancouver, BC.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.
