Story
Miley came to us from a vet clinic in Quebec after being surrendered for euthanasia due to a massive bladder stone. Instead, we agreed to take her into care and provided her lifesaving surgery from which she has recovered beautifully, however she will need to be monitored and on a urinary diet for life. Miley is a happy, bouncy, affectionate little girl. She loves children, is good with cats, but is selective with other dogs, seeming to prefer smaller dogs, and slow introductions. We feel that Miley would be happiest in a home with one person she can bond with as she would love a warm lap and undivided attention. BeeGee is kind house trained and will make the perfect companion for someone with time and patience. Find our app at www.ruffstartnewbeginnings.com and we're very glad to have you visit.

Story
Sammy came to us after being surrendered to a high kill pound in Quebec. She arrived to our care overweight and with some mobility issues for which she is engaging in hydrotherapy to help her improve her strength and stamina. We are looking for a loving home with a family willing to continue on this journey back to wellness with Sammy to ensure she has lots of happy years ahead. Sammy enjoys children (over 10 only) and other lower energy, medium to large sized male dogs. She will require a home without small dogs or cats. Sammy is not crate trained, but can hold her bladder overnight without issue. Throughout the day, she needs to have the opportunity to go outside at least every 4-5 hours, otherwise she may have accidents in the house. Sammy can resource guard her toys, so we would not recommend giving her toys in the presence of other dogs or children. She loves attention, and enjoys her walks. A home without stairs would be best suited to Sammy. To apply to adopt this beauty, please visit www.K9C.ca to complete our online application.

Story
Meet Ada! Estimated to be between 5 and 6 years old, this gorgeous girl found herself in a high kill pound in Quebec, with large mass on one of her legs. Since being rescued, she has had the mass removed and thankfully, it was benign. She has now recovered from her surgery and is ready to find her happily ever after. Ada is a funny, bouncy girl, who loves her walks. She would be happiest being the soul queen of her castle, as she is not comfortable with other large breed dogs, particularly those who are of a higher energy or dominant nature. She can co-exist with smaller, calm and submissive dogs, but truthfully, she prefers the company of humans over other canines. She has shared space with her feline foster sibling, but has been known to give chase when the kitty got a little too close. While Ada seems to enjoy children, she does become anxious if they are too loud or active, so we are looking for a home without young kids. Ada has impeccable manners in the home, and has not required a crate when left alone. She has zero destructive tendencies, and she does not have accidents indoors. Her leash skills are a work in progress, and she seems to walk better with a harness, but does respond well to correction. She is a dog who is motivated with affection and positive attention even more so than by treats, and she is truly eager to please. Ada does have some touch sensitivity in certain areas around her paws, legs and backside, and will give a low growl to let you know if you are making her uneasy. This could be a result of something that happened in her past, and her new family will need to be aware of her comfort level when handling her. Ada LOVES car rides, knows several commands and is mastering a few tricks. She seems to bond with one person in particular, and is a great hiking buddy who also loves snuggling up on the couch next to her favourite human. To apply to adopt Ada, please visit www.K9C.ca to complete an online application form. Due to the nature of our adoption process and the high volume of applications we receive, only those applications deemed to be a potential match will be contacted further.

Zack came to us from Egypt where dogs are thought of as pests, they live a horrific life but all of that has changed. He is very guarded with new people but once he warms up he is a terrific companion. He is full of life and love and will make a wonderful companion for the right family or person. He enjoys the outdoors and doesn't seem to mind the cold! We'd like to see Zack thriving in a foster to adopt home *everything you need will be provided by the rescue while in foster care.
