Story
Hi! I’m Odie...aka Odie Boats. I am the shy-but-oh-so-sweet little terrier you’ve been dreaming about. Let me tell you about myself...I’m around 4 years old, weigh 12 lbs, and I don’t shed much. It’s clear that maybe I didn’t have a lot of life experience before coming into foster care, because a lot of things are new and sometimes scary. But I am so, so brave. The foster lady here is so proud of me every day because she can see more and more of my silly inner self just waiting to burst out. Like walks, for example. The first few days I was really unsure of that leash thingy. I’m still a little uncertain at first, but once I get going, I love to motor and explore this big, beautiful new world. I follow the foster lady and man everywhere...I want to be close to them at all times. The foster lady said I’m like her little shadow. I want to be pet so badly, but sometimes it takes me a minute to feel safe. But you’ll see my tail going 100 miles an hour, it’s like a little motor. I really need to sleep in the bed and be close to my humans. The foster parents tried putting me in a crate overnight, but I was so sad and cried a lot. They decided to break the rules and put me in the bed, and I curled right up at their feet and slept like a baby all night. So that’s a fun new requirement for my new family: must love to sleep with shy-but-oh-so-sweet little terrier. I also like snoozing and watching TV on the couch with you. Sometimes I’ll go lay in my crate with soft blankies near the TV, too. I also LOVE to snuggle with other dogs. It makes me feel safe. So a nice dog friend of any size that wouldn’t mind me snuggling into them would be so wonderful. Another thing I’d love in my new home is someone who is around a lot. I really like to be with my family. I can hang out in my crate when you go to work, but I will cry, so an apartment or condo with shared walls probably won’t work. Lastly, I have an easy to treat condition in my eyes called dry eye. This means I will need medicated drops twice a day for the rest of my life. It takes 2 seconds, and the foster lady can show you how easy it is. So that’s me...I am excited to meet my new family, and I hope they will show me love, patience, and kindness...I will return it 10,000 fold. Odie is neutered, current on vaccinations, has tested negative for heartworm and has been microchipped. We are committed to doing our part to control the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Until life goes back to normal, we will not be doing adoption events at PetSmart. Instead, we will be doing individual meetings by appointment and practicing social distancing at each meeting. Story
This young guy is Chester, a 2-year old border collie mix. Chester’s favorite things are car rides and walks with his family. He has a lot of energy and really benefits from having one long walk a day. It drains his energy and helps him not to be restless at night. He’s a pretty smart guy and gets really excited when he hears the words “cookie” and “walk.” His favorite places in his foster home are under the table or sprawled out on the bed. Chester is very mellow and gets along well with other dogs. His foster family has rabbits and he doesn’t react to them when he walks past their enclosure, however if they are at run/play he shows way to much interest. Chester will be nervous around new people and needs to be approached slowly. He would do best in a home with older, respectful children, and no small animals. Chester doesn’t like loud noises, but who does?! Chester will need to go to a home with a securely fenced yard. Chester is crate-trained and will walk into a kennel easily. He is improving on his house training. With love, attention and patience, Chester has the makings of the perfect lifetime companion. Chester would do best in a home with a dog savvy human. He is a small project and will need help to get him to come out of his shell. Chester needs work on trust and to not run away. Chester has been neutered, is current on vaccinations, has tested negative for heartworm, and has been micro chipped. We are committed to doing our part to control the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Until life goes back to normal, we will not be doing adoption events at PetSmart. Instead, we will be doing individual meetings by appointment and practicing social distancing at each meeting. This is Chico. When he came to Animal Advocacy when his owner passed away. Our information is that this Jack Russell mix is 15-years old, but his foster mom doesn’t believe it. He’s an active and engaged little guy, who gets along with other dogs, cats and people. Chico is quite simply an adorable little dog who loves to be with you, loves to be petted and is happiest at night when he’s sleeping with his human. Chico loves to join you on a nice walk and is happy to hang out in the backyard on a sunny afternoon. Chico is doing well with his housetraining and is ready to make the move to his forever home. Chico has been neutered, is current on his vaccinations, has tested negative for heartworm and has been microchipped. We are committed to doing our part to control the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Story
***If you are interested in meeting or adopting Lyric, please complete our online adoption application at www.uaaf.org*** Lyric is a beautiful 2-year old German Shepherd looking for a very special home. Lyric has a condition known as Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency, EPI. This happens when the pancreas is unable to produce essential enzymes that aid in the digestion and absorption or starches, fats and proteins. When Lyric came to us she was a bag of bones. Thanks to her foster home, she is now ready to find a special loving forever home. Lyric is very friendly, but may need a slow introduction with some men. Like most German Shepherds, Lyric is very smart. She is also very mischievous and playful. If she isn’t being supervised, it’s best she is crated. This pretty girl is good with other dogs (although she is your typical bossy Shepherd). Although she has had limited exposure to kids, the few times she was around kids, Lyric had good interactions with them. Lyric is crate trained and house trained so long as she has access to a doggy door. Lyric's condition is easily manageable simply by adding specific pancreatic enzymes to her food each meal. These enzymes are not optional. These enzymes run around $230/month. Lyric also needs a grain free food (or she gets really itchy and uncomfortable). We have also found she does best on a puppy food. She has a good appetite and eats approximately 8 cups of food a day. She has been stable for about 4 months. She is now to a point where she can have a small amount of treats without it causing upset. Lyric is a wonderful dog and deserves a forever home. If you have time and love to give, this special girl would be a great addition to your family! Lyric has been spayed, is current on vaccinations, has tested negative for heartworm and is also micro chipped. We are committed to doing our part to control the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Until life goes back to normal, we will not be doing adoption events at PetSmart. Instead, we will be doing individual meetings by appointment and practicing social distancing at each meeting. Story
Meet Rosco, he is a Second Chance Chi Rescue located in Salt Lake City, Utah. When Rosco was surrendered to us his owner had informed us that He had been attacked by their bigger dog for his dog food. He does have back issues due to the attack. The also told us that when they first got Rosco they were told that he was also attacked by a pit bull in his younger days which has left Rosco terrified of bigger dogs. For this reason, Rosco will have to be placed in a home with small breed dogs only. Other than being afraid of big dogs Rosco is a wonderful dog. He likes people, small breed dogs. (NO CHILDREN) Rosco would be a great dog for an older retired couple that could spend some time with him. It does take Rosco some time to warm up to people do to him being frightened and attacked by big dogs but when he comes around he is a wonderful and sweet dog.

Story
They say that TWO are better than one, and we couldn’t agree more. The two of us girls are besties and want to stay together. Minnie and Poppy make quite the dynamic duo. Minnie (5-year-old Shepherd mix) is a sweet girl who is eager to please. Praise and love are all she is hoping for! New situations can make her nervous, but luckily she has a small dynamo on her side to help her navigate this big world! Minnie is an indoor dog but loves spending time outdoors soaking up the sun. She has great manners, but can get excited like the best of us and sometimes need reminding. No cats or bunnies for her, please - Poppy is the only small furry creature she can resist chasing! Poppy (3-year old Terrier mix) is one spunky little one-eyed pirate! She loves to play, chase and especially snuggle with her humans. Her favorite thing to do is to keep a watchful eye on her best friend and make sure she's having a great time, too! She's happy to give kisses and generally be a bundle of love. However, at her petite 5 lbs., she can be a little wary of youngsters and prefers a home without small children. Both girls like eating meals in their crates, which makes mealtime easy. They are both housetrained to a dog door, although as with all new adoptees, they may need a refresher in a new home. Poppy and Minnie have been spayed, are current on vaccinations, have tested negative for heartworm and are also microchipped. We are committed to doing our part to control the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Until life goes back to normal, we will not be doing adoption events at PetSmart.
