Story
We have had our sweet guy for almost 8 years now. He is a shelter dog with a big loving heart. He is mostly a lab and has pointer markings on his body. Cowboy loves to roam and also loves to jump the fence. For this reason we are unable to keep him.My husband and I both work full time and we have 1 one year old boy. The prospective owner will need to have a 6ft fence or higher. He needs to be ran and played with often; He is the sweetest dog ever, just a little too much for our growing family and work schedule.Love- Cara Madill

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.*** Coming Soon *** I am new to rescue and just settling in my foster home.  I once had a great life with my owner but they were getting old too and their health was failing so I was taken in to the shelter in hopes of finding a way out of here alive.  It was scary and my brother was so scared he attacked me.  They took him away and he never came back.  I am a big handsome Black Lab that is 12 years young.  I broke out of the shelter and went to the vet.  They gave me two thumbs up on my health.  I am way past that puppy stage and will give you a few years of 100% loyalty and love.  I am easy going, calm and quiet.  I just want to hang out and be with my people.  I am dog and people friendly.  My foster mom says I am such a sweet boy.  If you are looking for a older gent, I am your guy.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Oh boy, where do I even begin to tell my story?  Well, I will start here.  I am just 2yrs old and was wandering around stray in a rural area near the Texas/Mexican border and some cruel people thought it would be fun to use me as target practice I guess and shot me many times.  Sadly they only shot me in the back end which deemed me unable to walk so I laid on the side of a road where I crawled to and was picked up by animal control.  Its all fuzzy to me because of the pain and shock my body endured to remember the details but I ended up at the local animal control and thankfully they posted the sad pictures of me and thought I was hit by a car.  The shelter people didn't want me to suffer so I only had until the end of the day to get out alive or they would end my suffering.   That's where my life started to make a big turn-around.  I was picked up by a local volunteer for Allie's Haven and taken to the animal hospital.  I was knocked out with some medicine and they took pictures of my bones and found about 8 bullets all over my back legs, side and even my boy parts were shot.  That kind vet shaved my legs and removed some bullet fragments, cleaned up my legs and put some strong splints on them so I could walk.   Next, I was in a car for a really long time then went to some kin ladys home late at night and then the next morning I was at another vet and hospitalized.  Both of my legs required daily hydrotherapy, dressing changes and I was on strong antibiotics but unfortunately my right leg became badly infected from all of the bullet fragments that were not able to be removed.  Then, I had another surgery to removed my leg and it was pretty scary because the vet said I was going into septic shock.  So I had to stay longer in the hospital and get another surgery to deep clean my stump because the infection was still in what was left of my leg.  I finally recovered from that and as my other back leg continued to heal, I got a brand new custom made brace which allows me to walk.  Well, unfortunately that was not the best fit and it didnt give me the support my leg needs so they ordered a new brace.  In the meantime I got a different brace as a back up and it works great.  My next hurdle was to get my heartworm treatment done.  Now I am cleared of that and my wounds are healed I am almost ready to find a home.   I know that I am a wounded warrior that survived being shot multiple times and will be a special needs dog but I will promise you that when I find my family I will protect and show my full loyalty to them.  I will be praying for that special family to fall in love with me in spite of my handicap.  I may not be whole in body but I have a heart as big as Texas.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

Story
Rizzo is finally ready for a forever home. Rizzo is 13 years old but still in very good health he has had regular vet appointments and teeth cleaning his entire life. Due to health issues with his previous family they are no longer able to care for him. He is house trained crate trained knows a number of commands both by voice and hand signal. He's a delight about 98% of the time but occasionally pulls the little dog thing if he doesn't want to be picked up or moved, so he needs someone who understands small dogs. He behaves really well the rest of the time and gets over his self pretty quickly those other times. He just got a new grooming and is up-to-date on all of his vaccines including the flu shot. He should not be in a household with children and would love to be in a household with someone who is retired and can spend all their time with him following them around, sleeping with him, and sitting on the couch watching TV. He is still very playful for his age and likes to bounce around and play tag with you. He has some exposure to other small dogs but was generally the only dog in the household although he was raised with the number of cats. Please send us a p.m. if you would like to set up a meet and greet with Rizzo and look at making him your new forever friend.
