Pepper was returned because his owners couldn't care for him anymore. Pepper is a happy smart boy who learns new things quickly and is eager to please. Pepper is good with other calm dogs, cats and older kids. Pepper is house broken, crate trained and knows basic commands.Pepper is higher energy and needs plenty of exercise and a strong leader. Pepper can be protective of his food and toys but with proper training and continued work this is no longer an issue. Pepper can be shy with new people but given a chance to know you he is a great loving, trusting dog who enjoys cuddles and kisses.Pepper is doing great in his  foster home with 3 cats and meeting new people. Pepper enjoys playing in the water and going for walks.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

Story
Snapshot of Opa! Size?  Small/Medium (30 lbs) Age?  2 Years Activity Level?  I play hard and snuggle hard! Noise Level?  I like to alert people that something new is happening, but I quiet down quickly! Good with Dogs?   I'm great with slow intros :) Good with Cats?  Untested, but may chase! A solid “leave it” command will be useful. Good with Kids? Untested Good with Strangers?  I'm getting more and more used to them. Potty Trained?  I'm a pro! Crate Trained?   I don’t like going in (even with my favorite treat), but I do well once inside. Interested? Learn more about Opa below! About Opa:  Around 2 years old, Opa lived most of her life in a shelter in Magnolia, Arkansas before making the journey up to Minnesota to find her forever home. While she looks like a lab mix, we were surprised to find that she is mini-sized!  Opa is one of the sweetest pups you will have the pleasure to meet. Although she was extremely shy upon arrival, she quickly became comfortable and very attached to both of ‘her humans.’ She began to follow us around everywhere to make sure she could lie in our laps whenever we sat down. While she has been gaining independence and now can tolerate - and will occasionally choose - to be in a separate room, she is still quite the snuggler! She prefers to snuggle most of the day and all night. Opa originally showed a lot of hesitation around unfamiliar people, but has been more confident in meeting new people over time.  Opa was immediately interested in the resident dog in her home, but took a while to get fully comfortable and is still learning how to play; she gets really excited in short spurts then isn’t quite sure what to do, all of which is wholly adorable. When she encounters other less familiar dogs, she definitely wants to visit, but prefers when the dogs are calm and keep all four paws on the ground. While Opa appears to enjoy having a canine companion, she would likely be perfectly content with just a human family, too. She LOVES to go for walks and always wants to go faster, faster, faster, as well as chase anything moving, whether it be squirrels or rabbits or even a blowing leaf. She is strong and still learning how to walk with us rather than pull us along on these exciting outings.  Opa came fully potty trained and has never had a single accident in the house! She seemed highly perplexed by any commands and shy about us trying to show her, but has been sitting reliably for treats recently. She has also gotten pretty skilled at catching treats out of the air! Opa is motivated by food and by pleasing people, so that bodes well for further training. We learned that Opa had a few health issues upon her arrival, which have largely resolved and she is getting healthier every day. The only health concern that remains is that she needs to complete treatment for heartworm, which is why Opa is listed as Foster to Adopt! Beginning in May, Opa will need to start injections for treatment which will require to her to be on an activity restriction. If you are interested in Opa,  Twin Cities Pet Rescue will work with you to inform what is needed for her treatment, as well as a a foster-to-adopt option, so you can welcome Opa into her forever home as she completes treatment!  If you are looking for a faithful companion who likes attention, affection, and adventure, look no further: Opa is the one for you! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Name: Lil Lady Breed: American Pitbull Terrier / Lab Mix Adoption Fee: $150 Date of Birth (estimated): 1/28/2018 Weight: 58 lbs Good with Dogs:   yes Good with Cats: yes Good with Children: Older children or a kid free home House Trained: yes Crate Trained: yes - can be vocal on occasion Exercise Needs: high   Lil Lady is a super playful young gal who loves life. She is incredibly sweet and is always in the mood to play. She is currently working on her manners, specifically jumping when she is excited. Potential adopters will need to continue to work on that but she is very treat and people motivated so she should do very well. Because of her high energy she would do best in a home with older children or an adult only home.  She is a pretty high energy young gal and will need someone who can exercise her both physically and mentally. While with us she has been great with dogs of all sizes and she does a great job of matching play styles. She takes correction from other dogs very well and is respectful when they are asking her to stop. Lady prefers to meet new people a little slower but she typically loves them after she has checked them out and especially after they give her treats. She is not at all aggressive, she can just be nervous/fearful. She is potty and crate trained and is generally very quiet in the crate. Lady had an accident before coming to us that resulted in her eyelid never being able to close or blink. We opted to have corrective surgery in order to give her more comfort and use of her eyelid. Since the surgery she is now able to blink and only requires eye ointment every one in a while when it is especially dry. She does have some skin allergies and is taking a daily allergy pill. Lady will come with 3 free follow up training sessions with our Healing Haven Outreach Team during her transition to a new home.     If you are interested in meeting or adopting this animal, please read the following before submitting an adoption application on our website - fureverhomerescue.com. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate vaccinations, 4Dx test (covers tick-borne diseases ( A naplasmosis , Lymes, E hrlichiosis) as well as heart worm)  & de-worming.  We ask that our dogs live indoors unless otherwise stated & agreed upon.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Barley is a smart handsome dude who loves to rule the roost! He is kennel trained, knows basic commands, potty trained, and walks well on a leash. His favorite activities are playing with his ball by himself, splashing in the kiddie pool, rolling around in the snow in the winter, going for walks, going for hikes, car rides, giving kisses and lots of snuggles in bed. Barley needs a strong leader. He gets along with most other dogs, but seems to do best with females that are smaller than he is. He also seems to get along with smaller dogs in general. Barley has some resource guarding with his bones and toys, so letting him either put down the toy first is best or replacing it with a different toy works well. Barley has been with his foster mom for awhile and she is able to take items away from him without any issue and believes that with time and trust an adopter would able to as well. Barley is would love an active home who will take me for hikes, long walks, to the lake in the summer, and even just a quick road trip to McDonalds for their super tasty pup cups. He is an absolute love and deserves a furever home that will spend lots of time outdoors with him.   Date of birth (estimated): 6/20/17 Good with Dogs:  Smaller female dogs Good with Cats: No House Trained: Yes Adoption Fee: $150     If you are interested in meeting or adopting this animal, please read the following before submitting an adoption application on our website - fureverhomerescue.com.
