Story
From Foster: Hello, my name is Lady, and I've had that name ever since my humans made me a part of their family when I was little. For years I lived with human kids and my younger dog sister who looks almost exactly like me. Recently my dog sister and I met another human family - actually, a big group of humans acting like family - when my original human family had some trouble and needed my dog sis and me to stay with someone else for a while. We met our new human family and their two dog siblings - we immediately starting having fun together. Things changed, my dog sister went back with our original family. I'm OK though - I have my new family and new dog friends. We stay in the house during the day; the humans think we sleep all day but I assure you we do fun things together! in the afternoons and evenings we play in the yard, go for walks, and snuggle up on the couch. I don't bark or jump on people, and I walk really well on the leash (I just need to stop and sniff things a lot). I can be home all day without having to be let out (remember, the humans think I'm sleeping all day). I love my toys, especially the plushy ones and chewing on nylabones - I often have a toy in my mouth. I would love to be part of your family - adult humans, small humans, other dog friends, maybe even cats. Meet me and let me show you how special I am!

If you are interested in CLEO or in adopting a pup in general, the first step is an adoption application. Download an adoption application here Please email the completed application to katiev.woofriver@gmail.com Please submit an application rather than an inquiry with no application attached. CLEO is a bite-sized pup overflowing with personality and loving, warm energy. She currently lives with her sibling Clover, also part of Woof River Rescue. These precious little rascals love to wear each other out in the backyard, tumbling and tussling themselves silly until they’re ready to retreat inside for a nap. CLEO is eager for any adventure you have in store, but also knows when to settle down and curl up next to you while you catch up on Love Island. She’s cat- and kid-friendly, making for a smooth introduction to your current family members. CLEO is also house- and crate-trained, so no need to stress when you need to slip out of the house for a few hours. She’ll be waiting to wag her tail for you upon your return. Puppies as adorable as CLEO are rare, so apply today to make her a part of your forever family! To see even more pictures of CLEO copy and paste the following link into your browser: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ln0o55jt420plc6/AABSizs7eYRWVyAXkg-yb236a?dl=0 CLEO is microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations including 2 rounds of both the H3N2 and H3N8 canine influenza vaccinations. Her $490 adoption fee includes her interstate health certificate and the cost of transport to the Midwest after she is officially adopted. All of our dogs start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, some pups stay local in Memphis. Many others travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Alpha Dog Pet Transport for our Nashville, Knoxville and some New England adoptions (https://alphadogtransport.com). We also use Pet Express Tupelo (https://petexpresstupelo.wordpress.com/). For our Midwest adopters, we have our own private transport (https://www.facebook.com/roadhomepettransport). For an adoption application on CLEO click here Please email the completed application to katiev.woofriver@gmail.com. It typically takes us around 5 BUSINESS DAYS to process an application. We will reach out to you as soon as your application is processed. Thank you in advance for your patience. Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff. Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding. Please LIKE Woof River on Facebook! Story
Welcome Banjo. Available through CCPAL He is 3.5-year-old Boxer/Lab or Dalmatian mix. He was a house dog and so we notice he holds it in his kennel to go in the yard. He is good with other dogs and about 55 pounds. We are working on his leash manners and he is coming along nicely. The owners that turned him in did say he was house trained. He is good in a car and will make some family a good companion. He is in Texas and can be adopted locally or transported to the East Coast, Oregon, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois or Vermont. He loves other dogs and has lived in a home with another dog so he probably would prefer a home with another dog. He has the most adorable markings on his face. Looks like he had a rough night and was tired when putting on his makeup. He missed his eyelid on one eye and slipped with the eyeliner on the other eye. He and his brother can be adopted separately. He is up on his shots, neutered, healthy and ready for his forever home. His adoption fee is 200 and transport is 185. Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to maudreyh@aol.com for an application. Story
Welcome Guilley to CCPAL. He is a 1.5-year-old Boxer/Terrier mix. He has the most adorable wonky ears. He is very active and will be great for a runner, hiker or outdoorsy enthusiast. He is best in a harness and pulls some when another dog is there to play with. He probably wasn’t raised with another dog. A dog who has been around other dogs can read the ques that you are irritating them. He misses some of the ques so he can be too energetic for the more laid-back dogs. Troy has done an amazing job with him and he can now play off lead with 5 other alphas in the rescue off leash. That being said, he would be a great family pet with older kiddos due to his energy and someone who is athletic. He would be an AMAZING running partner and since he was raised as an only dog, we would like to keep him as an only dog. He is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with a transporter to deliver him to the East Coast, Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Wisconsin or Vermont. His adoption fee is 200 and transport is 185. For some active family this boy will be a great fit. Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to maudreyh@aol.com for an application. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!   Please check below to see what upcoming adoption events I will be attending or apply here for a private meeting.  If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <underdogrescue@petml.com> ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Due to concern around COVID-19, Underdog Rescue is suspending all public adoption events and community events. We are still accepting applications for available dogs but are delaying in-person meet and greets due to the ‘stay at home’ policy. Thank you for your support.  DOB: 6/10/11 Requires another dog in home: No Okay with dogs of all sizes: No, only dogs over 25lbs Okay with cats: No Okay with children under 12 years old: Unknown Requires a fenced yard: No Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area Hello, my name is Rita and I am a healthy adult female Boxer whose foster mom says is a “happy, typical boxer.” I love my human but am not fond of those meowy things or small dogs. I am food motivated…especially cookies and I love to bark at my foster mom’s adult son…don’t ask me why…I just do! I don’t know if it’s a fear thing or if I like him so much I just want to chat…who knows!  I don’t know if I would react the same way with little people because I’ve not met any of them.  I will admit though that those meowy things should steer clear of me because I can run like the wind blows and I will chase them down…after all, I am a boxer and I have a high prey drive and those meowy things are just too hard to resist. I am a fairly quiet girl except for my adult foster brother and when I am telling someone I would like to go outside.  I am crate trained.  I do very well with those leash things since I know it helps keep me safe!  That said, I really hope that my furever home has a fenced yard for me since that too will keep me safe and still allow me to run around, frolic and be free! If you have a lot of unconditional love to share with me and you enjoy cuddles and want a doggie that will come when called then you must come to meet me as soon as you can and take me to my new furever home. I promise I’ll be your best friend!!     Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  ADOPTION EVENTS:   Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.   ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.   FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.   NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.   YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? I am kennel and potty trained and will do my personal business outside. I even know the “kennel/crate” command...see, I’m really very smart!  I have not had much experience with little humans, kitties, or other dogs, so I don’t know how I would do with them. Story
I am Bourbon. I am from Kentucky. From his foster: Introducing Bourbon, a lovable 2-year-old ready to steal your heart! This handsome pup thrives when surrounded by his beloved humans and is guaranteed to shower you with affection every chance he gets. With his friendly disposition, Bourbon eagerly welcomes new friends of all ages, including adults and children alike. Bourbon is not just all charm - he's also a smart cookie! He's already mastered the art of housebreaking and crate training, making him an ideal roommate. Speaking of crates, Bourbon snoozes like a champ in his crate at night, ensuring a peaceful slumber for everyone in the household. Plus, he's a pro on the leash and is quickly learning basic commands, showing off his eagerness to please. He responds extremely well to positive reinforcement and is very motivated by food. However, like any pup, Bourbon has his quirks. He's not a fan of being left alone and may express his displeasure with some initial barking. When left solo, he's been known to test his Houdini skills on his crate, so a sturdy and secure crate or designated safe area is a must. Bourbon finds solace in the company of another dog, so having another pup could greatly alleviate his anxiety when left home alone. Bourbon is still refining some of his manners, particularly when it comes to containing his excitement and keeping all 4 paws on the ground. His enthusiasm may lead to accidentally knocking over young children, which is why a household with older children or adults might be a better fit. Structured exercise, like daily walks, helps Bourbon channel his energy in a positive direction and keeps his exuberance in check. If you're searching for a loyal companion who's equal parts cuddle buddy and adventure enthusiast, look no further than Bourbon. With a heart as big as his personality, he's ready to fill your home with love, laughter, and plenty of tail wags.

Story
A portion of Coco's adoption fee has been sponsored by her friends at The Murray Fund. The adoption fee sponsorship credit of $325.00 will be applied during the contract process Hi, my name is Coco! From the Foster: A typical day with Coco, I am home with Coco all day, with the exception of appointments, errands, etc. After nearly 2 years in our home, Coco has settled in and become a delightful companion dog. She gets along well with, and seems to take cues from, my black lab with a calm temperament. I have modified living arrangements such that the cats are kept separate from her- she seems to have high prey drive and due to limited vision perhaps cant really tell them apart from a squirrel. I had hoped after this long hearing and smelling them, and occasionally seeing them through the gate, she would have become accustomed to them, but alas she is just not a kitty dog. I keep Coco's medication pretty consistent, aiming for 12 hours apart. Coco and Lucy (my resident dog) both sleep on my bed all night. They don't get up until I do, and are great about going right outside and then in to eat and Coco has her oral meds, eye meds, and insulin. She is a champ taking her meds, doesn't resist at all. Throughout the day, Coco and Lucy go between my office and bedroom, taking long naps (they are 9 after all). Coco loves to race outside into the fenced yard with Lucy and search for real or imagined critters. The only thing that deters her is rain! A strange sound or presence will get her raising the alarm, but she settles down quickly and back to her sniffing and taking long luxurious naps in the sun. She may alarm due to her limited vision, but no significant limitations. Coco loves to be where I am, and would rather tag along in the car than be left behind, but thanks to occasional medication and my very mellow black lab, she is feeling more secure and safe as time goes on. She does fine out of the crate in the house, does not chew on unacceptable items, and can wait several hours to go outside. She has never had an accident indoors. Coco loves a long walk, especially a leisurely sniffari. Due to a lot of training, she is not nearly as concerned about other dogs out on walks as she used to be. I try not to get too close for comfort for her, and help her feel safe and confident. SHH can set an adopter up with ongoing training, too. She is pretty stressed, though, if she cant get out of perceived threat area, so instead of dog parks or busy recreation areas, we stick with the familiar neighborhood and a quiet regional nature park. Evenings are super-relaxed. Right after eating their dinner, both pups settle in for reading, watching a movie, or going to bed early. Coco loves to lay on the couch next to a warm body. She isn't a lap dog, not a hugger, but does love to snuggle. Through the course of my veterinary care at The Bond Between it was found that I have diabetes mellitus, hypothyroidism, and mature cataracts. Luckily, my foster and the doctors at The Bond Between and BluePearl took great care of me, and I am now ready to find my forever home! I had surgery for my cataracts, and I can see much better now. Future adopters should know that due to my multiple endocrine diseases, I will need to continue to work with a primary veterinarian, as well as an internal medicine specialist (I am currently under the care of Dr. Mazepa at BluePearl.) To manage my diabetes, my adopter will need to administer insulin everyday, as well as monitor my glucose levels with the guidance of a veterinarian. I am also on medication for my hypothyroidism. It is recommended that discuss with my future vet clinic about recommended follows ups and labwork (CBC, chemistry, UA, Fructosamine and T4).

Story
Hi, everyone! My name is Chilli! My foster mom says I am practically *perfect* in every way. I am snuggly, playful, affectionate, gorgeous, house trained, and crate trained! I currently live in an apartment and do well with shared walls! I am a strong girl so need someone who handle me during walks. See?! I told you - practically PERFECT! Which leads me to the word "practically" - I do have one small issue. I take time to trust doggy friends. What does this mean? With slow, proper intros (think 1+ week of baby gates, smells, crate and rotate) I become besties with other dogs. I am SUPER appropriate with other dogs, good at reading their signals, and love to play. But until I trust my fellow pups, I am a "freak on a leash" they say... which means no dog parks, no breweries, no doggy playdates for me! So, do I sound like the perfect pooch for you?! I hope so! I can't wait to find my family!
