Story
Chowder is looking for a foster home. He’s currently living in an overflow kennel used for dogs needing a foster or forever home. Please contact us if you can help: connellpetrescue@gmail.com Say hello to Chowder! This 9-month-old boxer mix is a real sweetie. Someone said he has a face that only a mother could love but we don’t think that’s true at all! From Chowder’s darling little ears and expressive face down to his always wagging tail, we can only see his total cuteness! As you can see in his photos, he’s living in a kennel run in E. WA. Chowder’s first wish is to get out of the kennel and find a place in the Seattle area, whether foster or forever. He will be transported to this area if there is an adoptive family, or foster family willing to give him shelter until he gets adopted. Although Chowder looks like an adult dog, he’s a puppy at heart. He’s bouncy and loves to play, run around, explore and go for long walks. But also has a relaxed, snuggly side. He gets along well with other dogs and while he hasn’t been tested with cats, he may be a little too much for them. He’d do well in a family with children 12 years old and up due to his size—he could knock over smaller kids. Chowdere would love to live with an active family who will include him in their lives. A yard with a fence would be wonderful. So he can be the best family dog he can be, he’d like to go to positive-method training classes. He’s eager to learn! Please show Chowder that people care about him. If you would like to foster, please email us. If you’d like to adopt, please fill out the application here: https://forms.gle/bSkgpdm6ZX7yH5Ef9 Questions? Ready to foster? Story
Rocky is a very sweet 6 year old Boxer/Pitbull mix. He is full of love, kisses and cuddles. He get a little anxious when he’s alone, so expect to see him everywhere you go. He is amazing with kids and other dogs, but should not be around cats or bunnies. Unfortunately we recently found out he has kidney disease, as his previous owners were neglectful and let a uti go too far. We love him so much, but are not able to put the time and money into vet visits as he deserves.

Buster  6 yo male Fawn 80 pounds Slow Intro Dog Friendly In home couch lover Outside home loves solitary activites fostered in Portland, OR   Buster here... still in a foster home.... I know I am a big, handsome, but hard to know guy, but I am a softie at heart. I have learned that snuggles are fun and how to ask for someone play with me. I still do need my own space to go to when I am feeling overwhelmed, yet I have learned to "put myself in time-out" by going to my room and resting for a few minutes when I need to. My MOST favorite thing is playing soccer with someone!!! I could play for HOURS!!! I have grown so much since being with NWBR, but the world outside still scares me so I don't do well on a leash around others. Going for a car ride somewhere that no one is at, I totally love it! Mostly I just want to hang out with my people on the couch and watch movies!!! Preferably in front of a fire! I know my foster family loves me, but I hope to find my forever family soon as I really want to be a doggie in a home that is for me, truly part of a forever home. Story
Henry 8.5 yo old male Brindle 85 pounds Slow Intros to dogs outside the home Kid Friendly Crate & Leash Trained fostered in Redmond, WA   Hi, I'm Henry! You know, like the guy that played the "Fonz" on Happy Days!  I recently lost my owner, which was not Happy Days for me, sniff sniff. I am looking  for a new home to live out my golden years and say "heyyyyyy". While I'm 8 I still have  lots of "gas" in the tank, yeah a boxer pun,  and energy to go on walks and will give you a run for your money in a game of tug of war. I love a nice long walk so that I can explore new areas and meet new people. Meeting people is a fun activity, yet if you want me to be a chill dude, kick back and relax at home, watch football, or Lifetime TV, I can handle that too. I am a royal, I mean loyal companion,  and will do my best to protect it from any dangers, floor fluff, you know tough stuff. I'm very respectful of the furniture, and can be left alone unsupervised without any issues. I'm not always sure of what other dogs are about when they come into my house, so I would like to have my home  space only be for me.  I am chill around other dogs outside the house, and walking around with them is cool, or watching them go by while we have a coffee is fun. If you have space in your home for a well behaved boy, who is looking to soak up the fabric of your world please give Henry a chance to show you what a great companion he can be. Henry has  lots of love and fun to give your family. Interested in adopting Henry? Story
Bridger aka Romeo 4 yo male Black 65 pounds Kid Friendly Large Dog Friendly w/ Slow Intros Crate & Leash Trained fostered in Moscow, ID Hi, my name is Bridger. I am a very handsome, athletic boy who needs an active family to hang out with. I am good with other large canines after slow introductions - I tend to be a very enthusiastic player so smaller dogs might not be the best choice of playmates or housemates. I also would be best in a home with no kitties as I am super interested in chasing things that run. I tend to like to hang with buddies I know, so the dog park crowd is probably not the best place for me to make friends, but if you are lucky enough you be accepted into my inner circle, you will not be disappointed. I am a houdini and can even jump/climb a 6 ft fence, so I need supervised play time and training to make sure I know my boundaries. I also will jail break a crate, but once I am settled and secure I am quiet and accepting of crating. I would really prefer to have an active person for my new owner as I have LOTS of energy. I would be an awesome hiking or running buddy! I have been working very hard with the folks at Prana Canine to brush up on my manners, including heel, sit, down, place and NO Jumping. Prana canine has offered free tech support to help me adjust to my new forever home. Are you wanting an active forever buddy? Bridger will be a wonderful companion for the person who is an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys direct and consistent engagement with their best friend.  Interested in adopting Bridger? Story
*** SPONSOR ME *** FHO SURGERY NAME: MARKY MARK AGE/GENDER: DOB 5.17.18, Male BREED: PIT BULL MIX TEMPERAMENT: Playful, affectionate, and mischievous WEIGHT: 40ish lbs HOUSE TRAINING: Great.  CRATE TRAINING: Great.   OTHER DOGS: He loves to play with other dogs but can sometimes get overstimulated. Would be best as A SOLO DOG, as he can be dog selective. NO DOG PARKS. CATS: He's a little too exuberant and fixated, so probably best not to have a cat companion. CHILDREN: Dog-respectful children, 8 and older ADOPTION DONATION: $400 HEALTH: MARKY MARK is healthy! He had previous trauma to his hind leg and had an FHO to help his pain and mobility. He is altered, microchipped, flea treated, and dewormed. Your adoption donation goes toward the cost of this vet care as well as transportation and general care costs.  HISTORY: Motley Zoo Animal Rescue was asked to find him a great forever family! NOTES FROM FOSTER HOME: Marky Mark is an extremely loyal companion and there's nothing he likes better than being with his human. He has unfortunately had quite a number of homes already in his short life and can be a little unsure of people at first but it just takes a few minutes for him to warm up and become friends. He is an athletic boy and it's up to his people to keep his energy in check, as he can't be as active yet as he thinks he can. He loves walks and hikes, smelling the flowers is his favorite past time. He's such a happy-go-lucky little guy and always does a silly dance when given a treat. He also is a huge cuddler and really loves being the center of attention.  Due to Marky Mark's unstable upbringing (not enough socialization with others and especially not enough training), he would be best as a single dog as he can be overprotective of his favorite person in the house and doesn't like to share that attention with other dogs. Because of his protective nature and because he can get easily excitable and overstimulated, NO DOG PARKS. He's quite happy going on walks and hikes and not hanging out with other dogs. All dogs adopted from Motley Zoo come with a leash and either a Martingale collar or a harness, depending on each dog's particular needs.   ABOUT MOTLEY ZOO: Motley Zoo Animal Rescue is a volunteer run, foster based, 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue organization based in Redmond, WA. Motley Zoo does not have a traditional shelter location, but instead, utilizes private foster homes which care for the animals individually, in a home environment, until a "furever" home is found. Motley Zoo also runs "Rock Star Treatment" Dog Daycare & Training Studio in Redmond, WA which is a day-use facility and does not hold kennels of adoptable animals. The dogs there are owned animals who come to the facility while their families are at work and school so they can play and socialize in a safe environment. We dub this service our "Year-round" fundraising program which helps us support our rescue animals and the $15,000/ month vet bills we incur. This Studio location does have an Adoptable Cat Lounge, where cats may live until adoption, which is the exception to any aforementioned rules. Please email adopt@motleyzoo.org and request an adoption application so we can get you started on the journey to finding a new, furry friend! Once you have been approved to adopt, then we can set up a meeting with the animal you have been matched with. For more information, please visit www.motleyzoo.org. Story
*** REQUIRES ANOTHER DOG IN THE HOME *** NAME: I DARE YOU (named after a song by Shinedown) AGE/GENDER:  DOB 8.7.18, Male BREED: PITBULL MIX TEMPERAMENT: Snuggly, playful, stubborn, bouncy, social WEIGHT: 40 lbs HOUSE TRAINING: Still working on it.   CRATE TRAINING: Good! He willingly goes in his crate for his meals and bedtime with a treat. OTHER DOGS: He does need slow introduction, as he can be particular about his playmates. He does great with non-dominant and playful dogs. Excitable or dominant dogs are not his jam. CATS: He can ignore them unless they run. CHILDREN: Dog-respectful children, 8 and older ADOPTION DONATION: $500 HEALTH: DARE was born with a cleft palate. After months of hand feeding, he had his surgery and is doing great. However, his mouth needs to be continuously monitored and consideration given to his selection of toys and diet. He has a sensitive stomach and has some food allergies we are still trying to determine. Dare is neutered, microchipped, flea treated, and dewormed. Puppies are given vaccination boosters in our care; however, adoptive families will be responsible for the remaining vaccinations that puppies need. Your adoption donation goes toward the cost of this vet care as well as transportation and general care costs.  HISTORY: Motley Zoo Animal Rescue was asked to take in Dare and his family (his mother and brothers who have since been adopted) when they were relinquished to animal control. NOTES FROM FOSTER HOME:  Dare is an extremely outgoing little guy with people. He doesn't feel he has any enemies. He has no clue about stranger danger and loves meeting new people. However, he's a little standoffish with dogs initially and is not a dog who can go to dog parks or doggie daycare, as he has some bulldog stubbornness and dominance. He is an energetic little guy but tires easily, having little heat intolerance and low stamina, most likely due to his cleft palate situation. He will definitely not be a jogging buddy and long strenuous hikes would be out of the question, as well as walks in hotter temperatures. He loves to be outside, however, and is great for walks when the weather is milder. He's quite content to play with his dog friends or amuse himself in the backyard. He prefers females and non-dominant dogs. He does need some time when doing dog introductions as he can be initially prickly. He's an overall goofy guy with a zest for life. He's the happiest little boy and very quick with his affection. He loves to cuddle and kiss, sooooo much kissing and so much bouncing.  DARE is a puppy so he's playful and has a lot of puppy energy! He is super cute and fun, but a lot of work. His forever family should be committed to lots of training - obedience, housetraining, and socialization. This will ensure that DARE grows into a confident, well behaved adult! Story
NAME: TULIP O'HARE AGE/GENDER: 2 year old, Female BREED: Pit Bull Mix TEMPERAMENT: Playful, silly and a tiny bit mischievous WEIGHT: 50 lbs HOUSE TRAINING: Good. CRATE TRAINING: She is crate trained! She sleeps in the crate and eats in her crate. She will run to her crate and sit and wait for her meals. OTHER DOGS: Good! She requires another dog in the home. She is fostered with many dogs and enjoys their company.  CATS: No cats. Probably not good to have cats around her as she has a bit of a prey drive. CHILDREN: Dog-respectful children, 8 and older ADOPTION DONATION: $400 HEALTH: Tulip and her brothers suffered from parvo- she was the only survivor of her litter. She does have some anxiety from her isolation as a puppy and is currently on fluoxetine 40 mg daily. Tulip is altered, microchipped, flea treated, and dewormed. Puppies are given vaccination boosters in our care; however, adoptive families will be responsible for the remaining vaccinations that puppies need. Your adoption donation goes toward the cost of this vet care as well as transportation and general care costs.  HISTORY: Motley Zoo Animal Rescue was asked to take in Tulip and her brothers when they had been surrendered to the shelter after their mother had been hit by a car. Sadly, they were found to have parvo. NOTES FROM FOSTER HOME:  Especially due to isolation as a puppy, Tulip requires another large breed, adult companion- she really relies on and takes cues from her "big" brothers and sisters.  TULIP is very puppy-like, playful with a ton of energy! She likes to run it off at daycare or playing with her foster siblings- and even then she might still have some energy left when she gets home! Because of this she would benefit from a relatively active household, one where she can go out and walk, jog or hike with you, as she likes to explore as long as she has a calm and friendly companion with her. She does best with another canine buddy when she is out and about as she can be nervous without. Tulip knows her training, but like any adolescent, you must enforce the rules with her or she will take a mile ;) She knows sit and wait and she can heel, but her new family will need to continue this education and structure for her, ensuring she will indeed grow into a model citizen!  Tulip is very friendly, but is a tiny bit shy at first. She takes a couple minutes to get to know you but after that she's all fun and games. She has lived with kids and dogs has been very successful in her foster home. She gets along with dogs of all sizes and ages. She loves her family and is extremely loyal. Her favorite thing in life is to be with her people. She will curl at your feet and in your bed once she's done playing with her canine buddies. She gives very sweet kisses rather than drenching you in saliva. She's one of the sweetest and most loving pups you'll ever meet! All dogs adopted from Motley Zoo come with a leash and either a Martingale collar or a harness, depending on each dog's particular needs.
