Story
Patrick is a 9 month old Lab Mix puppy looking for his forever home! He is an enthusiastic little guy that befriends everyone he meets and loves to meet new furry friends and does well with all dogs and cats! Patrick is curious, cuddly, and a social butterfly! Patrick came to Heath's Haven from a shelter in Arkansas as they were no longer able to care for his special needs. He was born with a neurological condition called Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH) and this effects his balance, coordination, and depth perception. He has an adorable wiggle and bounce to his walk, but he doesn't know he is different! Dogs with CH can long, healthy, normal lives just like any other dog, but loud noises and sudden movements can be little scary so he is looking for a home without small children. Patrick and Portia are bonded so they need to be adopted together and stay local in the Spokane/Coeur d'Alene area. Patrick is neutered, current on vaccines/flea&tick preventative/deworming, microchipped, crate trained, and house trained! If you are interested in adopting Patrick, please fill out an Adoption Application on our website at www.heathshavenrescue.com.
We'll also keep you updated on Portia's adoption status with email updates.

Story
Bruce is a 1 year old Boston Terrier with a dashing and charming personality! He is an active and high energy puppy that loves to go on walks, wrestle with his friends, and he truly enjoys meeting as many people as he possibly can! When he’s taking a break from all of his socializing, you will find him napping in his favorite bed or cuddled up in a warm soft blanket while chewing on a bully stick! Bruce had a pretty tough start to life, but he has no idea he is different from any other dog! Bruce came to Heath’s Haven from another rescue that deemed him “unadoptable,” due to being incontinent, and he was sadly facing euthanasia. Fortunately, they reached out to Heath’s Haven as his last hope! When he arrived at Heath’s Haven, he was immediately scheduled with the Neurology Department at The Washington State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital for an MRI to diagnose the cause of his incontinence. Bruce was born with a congenital defect called Spina Bifida. This is a rare congenital abnormality in the vertebrae of the spine that occurs in the embryotic stage of development during gestation. In Bruce’s case, the vertebrae in the sacral area of his spine did not completely develop/fuse around the spinal cord. They also found that he had a condition called Syringomyelia. His spinal cord was full of fluid from his neck all the way down to his little cork-screw tail. Bruce has been prescribed medications to help his body absorb the extra fluid and decrease any inflammation. In addition to the Spina Bifida and Syringomyelia, the Neurologist ALSO found that Bruce had “Tethered Cord Syndrome.” The tissues that surround his spinal cord (meninges) have fused to his saccrum causing his spinal cord to stretch as he grows. Fortunately, he is now full grown and has not shown any symptoms warranting surgery! Bruce will always be incontinent (not able to control his bladder or bowels), and he has an underdeveloped and small bladder that can not be expressed. This is easily managed with diapers and/or belly bands that he doesn’t mind wearing at all! We are currently accepting applications for Bruce and hope to find an adopter with experience in managing the care of a Spina Bifida dog, but experience is not required. We have been caring for incontinent dogs for the past 10 years and will provide his new family with all of the tips and tricks to care for a “diaper dog.” Bruce deserves the chance to live a happy, healthy life just like any other dog so if you are interested in adopting this handsome guy, please fill out an application! He is already neutered, microchipped, current on vaccines/flea & tick preventative, crate trained, and he is good with cats, dogs, and children…all he needs is a loving home! You can fill out an adoption application on our website at www.heathshavenrescue.com. We will adopt out of state as long as a home visit and transport can be arranged.

Story
5yr 55# Spayed Female Pitty mix Current Rabies, DAPPV, Bordetella and microchip Moo does her best with balanced dogs, and placing her in a home with other dogs will be assessed individually instead of going with the blanket no dogs.  Cats are a solid nope, though. Adoption Fee :$175   Moo Moo was scheduled to come to FFR in October 2019, but a medical rescue placed her on hold for one month. It’s not that month, but the 23 months before it - that breaks our hearts. Moo was brought into our local dog boarding kennels back in November of 2017. Her family came forward one time, 3 months later, to pay her boarding past due fees, but then was never heard from again. Moo has been living in a kennel run for 2 years.  Normally we don’t tell you much about their story or past, because of two reasons: A – It won’t change anything for that dog now B – It promotes hate.  People get angry. While we understand their emotion, we strive to embrace #bekind to animals and our fellow humans. So, the reason why we disclose her past, which is not a brutal story of torture – but a case of abandonment – is so you get inside her head and identify with her and accept her beauty and her quirks that come from years isolated.  This dog deserves a second chance. Moo loves people - she does fabulous with men and women alike.  In fact, she would do great with kids, if they are ready to be bowling pins, because her energy is 110mph, and she loves everyone.  If you have kids over 8, we feel confident Moo and them will be best buds. While here at the farm we have been focusing on Moo’s health and Moo’s mind.  She has the typical pitty allergies that are improving as we control her diet, environment, and eliminate the common culprits.  Blood tests do show that she’s healthy otherwise.   We are also addressing her mind, by creating a home environment that is structured, nurturing, and fair.  As we take applications to adopt Moo, our team is committed to her success and will be working with you and her after the adoption to ensure she is happy in a forever home.  She is house broke, has good manners, is eager to learn, and is the best cuddler on the planet.  She loves car rides and hiking up the hill side. In fact, she can help pull you to the top. If you are Moo’s second chance, the first step is to complete the adoption application right here: https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/12564/generic     Here is a little look inside our process, so you know what to expect: When you see an animal you would like to find out more about and meet, please go fill out our adoption application to start the process. Our adoptions are not first come first served, but a match of the needs of the animal with the best potential adopter.  You can expect to hear from us within 1 week after submitting your application. With review of your application, we check references and speak to your veterinarian. During that process we will also schedule a time for you to come meet and get to know your new furry friend. If you have other animals, we will want to do some intros at that time. We then ask you to take a few days to think about it and let us know. Next, we come to your house and do a last meet and greet before finalizing the adoption. All adopters sign a contract with the Furry Farm Rescue.  All of our adoptions come with a 2 week trial period. This allows you and your new furry friend some time to bond and decide if this is a forever family.  ##529723##

Story
We got Titan when he was 7 weeks old. We have had him for four years now. I am going back to work soon. So he will have to be kenneled for long hours at time. He has some hip trouble so I dont think that it will be good for him to be cooped up for such long periods of time. We also are not allowed to have him in our HOA. So that is another difficulty we face in keeping him. He is a very sweet dog. He gets along well with our Malamute. We have three children that he does very well with as well. We just feel that he needs a home that can be more attentive to his needs.

Story
Foxy3yr old 70lb Lab/Pit MixSpayed FemaleDAPPV, Rabies, Wormed, BordetellaMicrochippedAdoption fee: $200 Going back in time a bit, I’d like to explain a bit about Foxy’s past before we get to the really cool and exciting news about her future.  This young lass went through the ringer early on, with abandonment as a young puppy. A very kind lady felt so bad for her situation at the shelter, so bad, that she was compelled to bring her home. Somewhere in there Foxy missed out on a few vital areas and the timing of socialization.  At the age of 1-1/2yrs Foxy was being re-homed, and the farm reached out.  The similar background, behaviors, and even looks to my own pup drew me to Foxy. So home to the farm she came.  It took her a little bit to trust our family, but in a few months she had settled in nicely becoming quite bonded to us and enjoying play, tug, walks and more.  She had come far with obedience training in the 6 months, but Foxy’s stranger-danger ways were strong.  Almost a year into our program, a very kind couple applied to adopt Foxy and we missed out on a great home for her because we hadn’t addressed this stranger-danger.  What do I mean by stranger-danger?  She will show lip, growl, snarl, or snap.  Not the most welcoming for someone wanting to cuddle a new dog.  Foxy has never bitten anyone, nor has she bitten another animal.  Our commitment to our animals includes their physical needs, medical care, but a big piece of the puzzle with rescue animals is training.  Shelter life does a number, and owners aren’t surrendering dogs because they are amazing dogs that sit there and get pets all day, let’s just lay it out there. So now that we’ve peeled back the layers and exposed the sensitive subject, let’s talk about Foxy’s training.  She is currently in a Board and Train with Method K9 of Post Falls. Our team has been working with Method K9 since our very first foster dog, Turbo back in October 2017.  Our values and beliefs align well with Method K9, and they are our first choice for basic obedience and the only trainer we work with for behavior issues.  When Foxy graduates from Board and Train she will be able to let the world pass her by, coexist with other dogs, and learn strangers really are no danger. There is free training support for Foxy for the rest of her life with Method K9, so her adopters can get some brush ups anytime along the way. This training is not cheap, but it’s not her fault human’s failed her early on, so now we invest in Foxy’s future because she has many years to give her new family and with this training her life will be so amazing! With her desire to be your sole source of attention and snuggles, Foxy would be best around a more mature balanced dog to share her humans with. No small dogs, cats, or children please. Her energy level is moderate, loving a good walk and play through the woods only to come in and nap while you watch the discovery channel.  This girl wants nothing more than to be with you and please. Simply the most adorable goofy girl who is always ready for where your adventure awaits. Looking for a lifelong love bug? Look no further, as Foxy is your lady!
