Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sugar Bear is as sweet as her name. She's a Pyrenees/Akbash mix, which we have found to be an excellent combination of breeds. Akbash are taller and lankier than Pyrs and can be energetic jumpers, so a good sized yard and 5 foot or higher fence are a must.  Their beautiful white coats are shorter and easier to maintain than a Pyr coat but they still shed and need brushing. Sugar Bear is a gentle dog who loves to be with her people. She is happy to sit when you ask her to, then will give you “the look” like she`s waiting for her next command.  Her dark liquid eyes say she is hanging on your every word!  No one else will ever look at you so lovingly.  If you think you might be the family lucky enough to  adopt our beautiful and intelligent Sugar Bear,  please click on the adoption application link below. NGPR Pooch Profile Name: Sugar Bear in NY Age: 4 yrs 6 mos old as of  Jan 2020 Color: All white Dew Claws: yes Estimated Adult Weight: 76 pounds (her current weight) Current Location: NGPR approved foster in Rochester, NY Medical: Spayed, dewormed, negative for heartworm, up-to-date on vaccinations and currently on flea, tick and heartworm preventative. Sugar Bear will need at least a 5 ft fence. Fees:   Adoption Fee $375. NYS Registered Rescue # RR102 Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Say hello to our very own sweet, loving Charity! Charity may have spent the first part of her young life on her own, but she now enjoys being showered with affection from people who love her. Initially timid and shy, Charity has quickly settled in well at her foster home and is a cuddly girl with her humans. Charity loves being outdoors playing, but also prefers to be indoors with her family. As with other dogs of her breed, one of her priorities is to make sure there are no intruders to their property. Charity is not shy about showing her affection to her foster family or anyone who shows her kindness and affection...her favorite pastime is to rest her head in her foster mom's lap and get petted! Just like her Pyr ancestors, Charity is extremely smart and learned to sit on command after just a few days in her foster home. Although she walks great on leash, she is also working with a professional dog trainer to learn more manners; especially overcoming fears about unfamiliar things. Charity is treat-motivated and very good about taking direction. Charity has 3 wishes for her furever home: 1. Loving humans who will pamper her and give her all the love she missed out on in her young life; 2. A confident, experienced leader who can guide her and help her thrive with daily kindness, love and patience; 3. A nice big fenced in yard to run and play in. Will you be the one to grant Charity's wishes? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. My name is Gracie and I am living at the NGPR Kennel in Ohio. I have been there a long time. I am three years old as of March and weigh approximately 85 pounds. Everyone tells me I am beautiful and they especially comment on the hair on my head based on the weather. I am looking for a foster home and someone who will believe in me and work with me to overcome some of my fears. I should be an only dog, though I might get along with a submissive male but there would have to be slow introductions. There should be no small children in your home. I do get along with the cat at the kennel. I am also very slow to trust and when I first meet you, I will bark at you and you will think that I don’t like you but take me for a walk and you will be my new best friend! I love to play with sticks and balls outside. Right now I am not comfortable around new people but I can be very loving once I get to know you. Trust is an issue for me because of my previous life with people especially children not being kind to me. If you think you might like to work with me and get me ready to be adopted, there are many people at the kennel supporting me and they would love for you to meet me! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Our beautiful and gentle girl, Pearl, is wishing for a family to take her home in time for the holidays. This Pyr girl is such a darling that it is impossible not to shower her with love. Pearl has wonderful house and car manners, and is pyrfecting her responses with basic cues. When the weather is nice, she enjoys chilling outside and will solicit interested humans to play tag or hide and seek with her :) When it is time to return indoors, Pearl is always eager to come with, almost as if she'd rather be with you than stay outside by herself. Just like many other guardian dogs, Pearl is serious about her job of protecting her people and the property. She keeps an eye on everything and patrols the property regularly. With strangers, she prefers to approach them with caution; but once she determines the new person poses no danger, she is ready to show her friendly side and seeks to be petted. Pearl's personality will fit best in a relatively quiet home where her humans are willing to take some time to pamper her and take her on regular nice long walks. With love and patience, Pearl will easily be the most pyrfect companion for you! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi there, my name is Beamer and I would really love to find a family of my own. I have heard my people describe me as the typical Great Pyrenees. I have a long beautiful flowing coat and am fully grown, so what you see is what you get! As you know, the Great Pyrenees is a guardian dog and I take that very seriously. I have recently been thru training to help me understand how to control those natural instincts and look to my person for guidance. I am smart and have learned basic commands that include heel, sit, down, stay, come, and leave it. I would love a person(s) who will be the pack leader and provide me with a loving home where there is structure, security, and guidance so I don’t feel the need to be the protector—somebody who understands my breed. I am a low energy boy but would love a quiet home with a big yard, perhaps a low-energy sister to play with, and a human to take me on walks and continue my training. I also love, love, love empty peanut butter jars—it is my job to clean them out completely! I am housebroken and I enjoy being brushed and loved on, playing with my kong wubba, strolling around and playing with other dogs outside, going for walks and don’t forget the treats the humans give me—I especially love those! If you are a strong leader, who has previous experience and just can’t resist my sweet, gentle, laid back nature, please put in an application to adopt me! I look so forward to meeting you! Hiking buddy? Adventure partner? Well look no further- Zeus is your guy! Zeus is a young bundle of fun! He’s happiest while being active with his human and furry friends. Zeus was very loved the first year of his life but is looking for a home better suited for getting his puppy energy out. He needs a large, fenced yard to run around and play. A tired Zeus is a good Zeus :) Like most Pyrs, Zeus can have selective hearing and can exhibit some resource guarding tendencies. He has work to do on his manners when greeting new humans and other dogs on a leash, but Zeus is highly food motivated and a delicious treat seems to help him remember his obedience commands very quickly. He is house broken, crate-trained and walks well on a leash (unless other dogs are nearby). Zeus plays well with canine pals after proper introductions and would benefit from a doggy sibling to play with in his yard! He is a very good boy - handsome, smart and a quick learner! If you’re the active family Zeus is looking for, apply today!
