Meet Zara!
Zara is a stunning purebred German Shepherd with a heart as big as her smile. She made the trip from Missouri to Minnesota and, just three days later, surprised everyone by welcoming seven beautiful puppies! She was a wonderful, devoted mom, and now that her pups are grown and she’s been spayed, it’s finally Zara’s turn to shine.
Playful, goofy, and full of personality, Zara loves the simple joys in life — tugging on her favorite toys, patrolling for squirrels (she takes her squirrel duties very seriously), and going on walks or adventures with her people. She’s also incredibly smart. She’s crate trained, fully housebroken, and making great progress on leash — already walking with more focus and calmness after just a short time in foster care.
Zara really does enjoy the company of other dogs, though she’s still building her confidence. Large, busy playgroups can feel overwhelming, so she’s taking it slow and learning at her own pace. With little dogs, she’s completely unfazed and ignores their sass. With bigger dogs, if the energy gets too high, she simply takes a step back, shakes it off, and then comes back to try again once she feels ready. She truly wants to connect and is showing every day that she enjoys having dog friends — she just appreciates a calmer, more respectful playmate while she continues to grow her confidence.
Because of this, Zara would likely do best in a home with another steady, balanced dog to lean on. She’d love a buddy who can help show her the ropes, but she’d also be just fine soaking up love as the only dog if her people are around to keep her company. A fenced yard would be her dream — she loves to stretch her legs, explore, and indulge her playful side.
