Zoe IS AVAILALBE (updated 04-05-2020).To meet any of our dogs you must first complete our online adoption application on our website. For more information and the adoption application for Zoe, please visit our website belowhttp://www.coastalgsr.org/dog_profile.php?ID=21991&name=ZoeZoe was rescued from a high-kill shelter when her time ran out. Again. You see, she was adopted (by the public) and returned two times; both times because the adopters expected her to act as if she&#39d been with them forever, inherently knew the rules, what was expected of her, and should be ok with way too much freedom. Since coming to us, she&#39s been in a foster home with other dogs, has been given boundaries and structure, and now she understands what&#39s expected of her. She&#39s also decompressed, because her foster took it slow and didn&#39t overwhelm her with lots of new people and lots of trips.Zoe&#39s around 3-4 years old, great in the house, potty trained, is living with and gets along with large and small dogs, and absolutely adores going on long walks. The home best for Zoe will be one with shepherd experience who knows how to apply structure so that she doesn&#39t get overprotective of her people. She&#39s playful, sweet, loves her people, and would like to see her third time be the charm! The minimum adoption donation for adults is $300 and the adoption donation for puppies is $400 - $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.

For more information and the adoption application for Poncho, please visit our website belowhttp://www.coastalgsr.org/dog_profile.php?ID=20996&name=PonchoIn the spring of 2014, a litter of newborns was found sleeping in a drain pipe. Thanks to a Good Samaritan, the mother and her puppies were saved, one of them being Poncho. If you are looking for a young, energetic, ball crazy, trained, Ridgeback-y looking big boy and have the time to show him structure, boundaries, and work on continuing his socialization, this boy will have you smiling from ear to ear for years to come.We&#39ve been working with this handsome purple tongued boy for over two years now. Poncho was terrified of everything he didn&#39t know and he knew nothing except the home in which he was being forced to leave. He was petrified. He was unsure of himself, his surroundings, strangers, other dogs, and he was lashing out. He&#39s come so far, but he still needs a low traffic household and someone who will continue to introduce him to the world around him. Poncho&#39s now obedience trained, so much less fearful, so much more trusting, and so responsive. He just needs someone who can spend time with him and show him how to become the dog he was meant to be.The minimum adoption donation for adults is $300 and the adoption donation for puppies is $400 - $500. For more information and the adoption application for Winston, please visit our website belowhttp://www.coastalgsr.org/dog_profile.php?ID=21677&name=WinstonWinston didn&#39t imagine spending his retirement at the OC Shelter, but found himself there with no idea how he was going to get out. We threw him a lifeline and he&#39s been in a foster home ever since! This sweet boy loves people and gets along with other dogs, even the small ones. He warms up quickly to people, yet, sort of prefers to do his own thing. Winston reacts to other dogs he sees while on his leash but it is more out of excitement than aggression. He has a torn acl and we have him on Rimadyl to keep him comfortable.Winston would much prefer a home with older kids or adults only as he enjoys a calm lifestyle. While Winston is good with small dogs, we are unsure of cats, especially because one of his favorite pastimes is to chase squirrels! If you&#39re looking for a loyal companion who has lots of life left and even more love to give, Winston is the boy for you. â&#194&#157¤ï¸&#194&#143The minimum adoption donation for adults is $300 and the adoption donation for puppies is $400 - $500. For more information and the adoption application for Angel, please visit our website belowhttp://www.coastalgsr.org/dog_profile.php?ID=22042&name=AngelAngel&#39s fantastic in the house, crate trained, gets along with other dogs, and needs someone with GSD experience who can give her structure and boundaries. She will repay you with more love than you thought imaginable! Angel&#39s owners wanted to surrender her to their local shelter because she became infested with ticks. She didnâ&#194&#128&#194&#153t even have a name â&#194&#128&#194&#147 her owners just called her â&#194&#128&#194&#156Dog.â&#194&#128&#194&#157 We were contacted by a concerned animal control officer and we invited Angel to join the Coastal family. Now that the ticks are history and she is safe with us, this beauty is doing very well in her foster home. Angel is a big (90 pounds), sweet girl whoâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s quick to learn and eager to please, but she can be stubborn and will take charge if allowed so she needs a calm, assertive handler who can give her leadership and consistency. Sheâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s become very good on a leash, has learned some basic commands (heel, halt, sit), and continues to improve her manners and obedience.Angel is almost perfect in every way, but she tends to pick her favorite person in the household and not bond with anyone else. She would do best in a low traffic home that has GSD experience and understands dogs who need a leader. The minimum adoption donation for adults is $300 and the adoption donation for puppies is $400 - $500. (The mother was Gretchen, who was also available and has been adopted.) Their owner was a BYB who was not able to care for Apollo, Gretchen, nor the H litter, so Coastal GSR took them all in, because we leave no dog behind. Apollo is around 7 years old and ready to experience a real life. He&#39s ready for walks, family time, camping trips, dinner & a movie, getting upset about who has the remote control, and everything that comes with being part of the family. If you have GSD experience and are the kind of person who knows that some dogs need more time to come out of their shell, especially ones who were just kept in a backyard and asked to breed over and over, then you&#39re the kind of person this handsome boy has been waiting to meet. Apollo is good with female dogs and female humans, but timid around people he doesn&#39t know, as he was never socialized in his previous home. For more information and the adoption application for Nigel, please visit our website belowhttp://www.coastalgsr.org/dog_profile.php?ID=22269&name=NigelNigel was rescued from a situation of severe neglect and starvation along with another German Shepherd, Anna Mae. They were locked in a small makeshift dog run in the back of a wrecking yard for month&#39s on end. Nigel is so happy to be out of that situation and he has bounced back with immense amounts of energy and happiness. He is friendly to all he meets, is grateful for attention, is a quick learner and eager to please. Nigel Loves walks and is quickly learning manners and commands. His only negative is that he can be mouthy, as puppies often are, so being with young children right now is probably not the best thing. Our veterinarian guesses that Nigel is about one year old or less. He may still be growing. He was under weight when we rescued him and he is gaining weight daily. Nigel is expected to be 80-90 pounds when he reaches his full size. So far, Nigel shows little to no aggression with other dogs. He&#39s easy going and is just enjoying his new life. Life in a Coastal kennel means regular meals, medical care, walks, and lots of love from the volunteers, but its still not the same as a forever home which he hopes to have soon. The minimum adoption donation for adults is $300 and the adoption donation for puppies is $400 - $500.
