Story
How this pet arrived: This pet was brought in by their previous owner. on 2/23/20.At SDHS:This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. This pet is now ready for their new home! Why this pet is the one for you:In this pets previous home this pet barked a great deal when left alone and caused the neighbors to complain. Lady lived with other dogs, but it was noted that Lady did not always share resources, such as toys and food. It is being strongly recommended that if you have any questions to meet with the Trainer to discuss how to manage resource guarding behaviors when there are two or more dogs in the home. Our Behavior Department can also offer tips on how to help limit barking when left alone. The San Diego Humane Society web-site also has many helpful articles on the above behaviors. Story
How this pet arrived: This pet was adopted out and returned on 3/21/20. At SDHS:This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. This pet is now ready for their new home! Why this pet is the one for you: Wolfie would do best in a secure home and due to his inability to share his toys, treats and food we highly recommend no small children, but older children that can recognize body language may go OK. Wolfie would love a home that will provide daily exercise and fun enrichment . He will require a consultation with our Trainer prior to going home to discuss his history of Resource Guarding. Story
Meet Dahlia, she is a small young terrier/chihuahua mix, Dahlia is estimated to be 10 mos old and she is about 7 pounds. She is a sweet, loving, fun girl that loves to snuggle, and play, she also loves to follow you everywhere. She is young and has good doggy manners, she is still learning but picks up on training quickly. She is doing great with her potty pad and outside potty training. She gets along well with everyone, people and pets, and would be great addition to a home where someone can take the time to continue with her training.  She would do best in a home where someone is with her during the day, or she has a companion to keep her company. If you have room in your heart and your home for this sweet girl, please complete the application and we will give you a call.

Needs special attention, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Marissa is 11 years old & 6 pounds. She’s a sweet, affectionate, special needs dog, but she is not hard to take care of. One has to watch out for her safety because she is deaf. She needs drops in her eyes and supplements put in her food. Here is what she would like to say: “I used to wet a lot on the floor but I forgot why I don’t do that anymore. I need a family who is home most of the time and will stay on the bed or sofa with me to watch TV all day. I love TV, even though I sleep all the time. If my people lift me down from the bed or sofa, I have to go out right away! I always have to wet often if I am up, walking around. I used to bark too much but now I never bark. Mom helped me. Except I bark loudly and all the time when my family leaves. I am good at climbing like a mountain goat, mom says, and can get out of any tall pen or baby gate, easily. I don’t play much, but I love walking fast every morning for 30 minutes. My foster mom used to say I was terrible, but now, she says I am the perfect dog.
