Story
The extraordinary journey of an extraordinary dog! Bailey was found, naked and alone, as a stray wandering the streets. Clearly bad things had happened to this sweet little white terrier. Huge chunks of fur were missing, his skin was raw, he couldn’t see, he was literally starving, and his face was swollen from some kind of attack. AND YET, even in pain, little Bailey was friendly! A neighbor, seeing him, called to the dog. BailSey wagged his tail hopefully and hesitantly came right up to the neighbor. The neighbors looked for his owners, posting on NextDoor, etc., then kept Bailey fed & safe overnight. Hoping his owners would find him at the shelter, they took him there the next day. Bailey was chipped, his owners called, but they wouldn’t come for him. Bailey was put on a ten day hold. The shelter vet examined him and decided that Bailey would be killed at the end of the ten days if his owners did not claim him. He declared that a simple heart murmur, eye and skin issues doomed poor, innocent Bailey to death. Victimized again. FORTUNATELY for Bailey, ARC RESCUE had been following the NextDoor postings when Bailey went into the shelter. ARC immediately notified the shelter they would rescue Bailey at the end of the hold period, despite any medical issues. The shelter staff tried very hard to discourage ARC from rescuing Bailey, even going so far as to talk the first family out of even fostering Bailey. Desperate, ARC finally found a wonderful Navy family who just loved the idea of fostering Bailey. The Navy family met the charming Bailey in person and said they’d be delighted to help save Baileys life! GO NAVY!!!! On the VERY DAY that Bailey had been condemned to die by shelter staff, the amazing foster mom, Blanca, had to make two separate trips to the shelter before she was able to spring Bailey and bring him to his loving new foster-home. As soon as Bailey was out of the shelter, he perked right up! Far from being the crippled, dying creature the shelter portrayed him as, Bailey simply DANCED across the parking lot and joyfully LEAPED into the car that took him to his new foster home. Soon, Bailey was seen by a private vet who gave absolutely fabulous news: Bailey’s issues were eminently treatable. With proper care, the friendly little white terrier could go on to live a full, happy life! As the vet stated so beautifully, no pet like this should be killed merely because of environmental allergies or a simple heart murmur. As happy as Bailey has been with his wonderful Navy foster family, the expected transfer to a foreign country has come in & they’re moving. Bailey now needs a FURever home! Is that YOU? CAN YOU HELP LOVE BAILEY THE MIRACLE DOG? CALL 858 367-3641 & TALK ABOUT BAILEY!

Story
We adopted Mochi when he was only a month old. A young student found him abandoned on their way to school and put him in their backpack. They told the teacher, who rescued him, and he got the name Mochi as short for "mochila", "backpack" in Spanish. The teacher was trying to find him a home when we met her and we decided to adpot him straight away...that was 10 years ago. Mochi is affectionate, loves a good back-scratch, he'll fetch anything you throw to him, and has a special talent that he can dribble a soccer ball with his paws! Check out this video: http://youtu.be/Dk8mRv5hRYM The reason we're looking for a new home for him is because he's not good with kids. His instinctive reaction is to bark at them which can be intimidating for a child. We have 3 young kids and he is good with them, but we have to put him away when our kid's friends come over which is happening more and more as they get older. We'd like to find him a loving home without kids.

Thank you for your interest. Basset Hound/ Small Terrier mix; Male; 1 year, 36 pounds CHIMI is a young and active dog that is a great cuddle buddy. He prefers the company of his humans to dogs and would love to be the only one to get all the toys, food and love in the home. He can get over a 3′ gate even with his short legs (maybe he should be renamed Spud Webb) so a tall fence will be in order in his new home. Come checkout this loving little dog.
