Story
My name is DeeDee and I had a rough life so far. I can't tell you where I came from but when my rescuers found me, my eye had suffered some trauma and now I am partially blind in that eye, but it doesn't stop me from being fun and loveable! Sadly, I was attacked by South Carolina bloodsucking mosquitoes and suffer from heartworm disease, but the kind rescue people are treating me so I will be better soon! I was very hungry for a long time and I am still scared my food won't keep coming so I need to eat by myself away from other animals. I know the humans in my house don't want my food, so they are ok, but I can't share my food with other animals just yet. I do like other dogs though, well, I like all boy dogs, not so much female dogs or small dogs that look like cats. I like to play with my dog friends and hang with them. My rescuerers say I need my own family, and I believe them! I DO want my own family. If you are reading this, will you be my new family!? Please? They say I can't meet you until you apply online on the rescue website and are approved. I guess that means they check you out and make sure I will be in good hands with more good meals! Yum. I like mealtime. Are you still reading? Go apply for me already! Geez. Thanks! TTYL! We work with many rescues and strive to find every rescue in our care a great home. Sometimes that means transferring that pet to another location where adoption may be more likely.  If you are interesting in meeting any of our pets, the process is to complete an application.  It can be downloaded as a pdf document from our website and submitted by email to WindyRidgeRescue@gmail.com  as a scanned document or as photos OR can be completed entirely online. Both links are in the header of our website.   Because we are foster based, we require an approved application to schedule a meet and greet. We feel that is fair to our fosters and rescues so every meet and greet can result in an adoption.  &#226&#128&#139Adoption fees are negotiable but our goal is to break even on a pet's medical expenses, although we know that will be the exception and not the case most of the time. Average adoption fees in the area range from $175 up to $450.  &#226&#128&#139As with every rescue, our resources are limited and the need for rescue help is unlimited. Your generosity helps us to rescue more.   &#226&#128&#139Adopting or fostering for a rescue frees up a space where a new rescue can reside.  &#226&#128&#139If you can't adopt or foster, than please consider donating.

Story
Millie is a happy girl who loves human attention! She is a good girl who is working on her manners. She loves to walk and sniff and smell. She is a little too interested in cats, although is learning LEAVE IT and doing quite well. She was sometimes dog-reactive in one foster home, but has had no issues in two others. She would be great in a one-dog home but to live with another dog would require a meet and greet with that dog and experienced dog owners who could recognize potential issues before escalation. We are continuing to dog test her with different sizes and genders to learn more about her. It is our policy to reveal all we know! Millie found herself pregnant and homeless last year. She had beautiful puppies and cared for them very well. She had heartworm disease but has been treated & requires no further restrictions.  Because we are foster based, we require an approved adoption application before a meet and greet can be scheduled. We feel that is fair to the foster and Millie so every meet and greet has the potential to result in an immediate adoption. The application is available on the rescue website and can be completed online. We work with many rescues and strive to find every rescue in our care a great home. Story
Tink is absolutely a wonderful dog! He was found in rural SC with mom, his older sister Candy and 8 siblings. He had a rough start from living in the woods, but is very healthy, neutered, negative for heartworm disease and current on vaccinations and on flea & heartworm preventatives. He is housetrained and leash trained and listens very well. Tink is good with everyone, adults, children, male and females, and other pets too! He is bonded to his sister, Tinker and they need a home together.  He loves dogs and tolerates cats!   He loves his human caregivers and we want him to be part of a family.  Please visit our website and download an application!   Because we are foster-based, we only schedule meet & greets to approved adopters. Story
My name is Charlie and I am 4 years old. I have been around cats and a lot of humans, some big and some smaller! I have been good friends with kids who are 12 and older. I get very excited to see small humans, and I have not met many tiny humans. I lived with an elderly lady but she wasn't very steady on her feet and I coudn't stay inside with her since I might have caused her to fall. Then I was outside a lot and now I have heartowrm disease, but the rescue people said they will help me get over that. I am looking for a family who wants to love me as an inside dog as part of their family. My foster family lets me live inside and I love it! I have 3 bog dogs to play with here! I want to do dog stuff at my new home too! Laying on couches and pillows, going for walks and maybe some hikes and running around my own yard. I don't have to live with another dog, but I do like them and I have some friends who are cats that are pretty cool. Because we are foster based, an approved application is required prior to a meet and greet being scheduled.  We feel this is fair to our fosters so every meet and greet has the potential to result in an immediate adoption! Applications are available on the rescue website and can be completed online. What are you waiting for? Go to do it! I want to love you! We work with many rescues and strive to find every rescue in our care a great home. Story
We are SO PROUD of Noah! Noah is doing fantastic at his foster's home and is walking good on the leash and is spending more and more time inside without staring at the door! He will hang in his crate and watch for cues about what is to come (like outdoor play time). While Noah has made a ton of progress with his foster, Noah needs a family who knows how to be patient and wait for Noah to be comfortable around a new family. Your bonus for loving him is he does not shed much at all! Basenji's are very low shedding dogs! He is finally acting like the rest of us thinks he should as a family dog and we really want him to find his own family.  Noah would do well living with another dog in a home who is playful and confident.  Because we are foster based, an approved application is required before a meet and greet can be scheduled.
