Story
Luther is a 6 year old pit bull/ terrier mix. I adopted him from the Spokane Humane society 3 years ago. He is a very energetic and strong dog that loves everybody. He loves to cuddle and go on walks. Luther is a very strong dog and he is not well trained. He pulls when on a leash and gets very excited when going to a new area and meeting new people. He can be defensive with his food and toys and should not be fed around other dogs. He tends to get along better with female dogs. He is potty trained but when going to a new location he has some accidents but those stop once he is familiar with where he is. He knows how to sit and shake and gets excited when he hears the word “walk”. He is very food motivated as well.

Story
We are trying to rehome Nova because we simply do not have the time for her. She gets anxious being around other dogs. She has never bit anyone nor another dog she would be much better off being with a family where she is the only dog or maybe one other dog so she can get adequate amount of attention she needs. She is UTD on all shots and spayed. We would preferably like to have a vet reference from anyone interested in adopting her.

Story
Hi my name is Aria, I now have 2 false ligaments and because my mom lives on a working ranch my home is not the best suited place for me. I am in month 2 of my 6 month recovery from surgery. The false ligaments are at higher risk for breaking in a free roaming home or somewhere I have the opportunity to jump off or on high things. I am looking for family environment or a small hobby farm (I'd need training with chickens) or a single person looking for a friend to go on adventures with. I LOVE water, paddle boarding, and kids. I like laying around, snuggling with you, being with you all the time and road trips. I hate the vacuum and loud noises. I love my crate and know basic commands and have my good citizen cert. I get along with most dogs but have had issues with some. I resource gaurd my food because I like to eat slowly. If locked up with anything stuffed I will tear it apart. I also become destructive if cooped up for to long. I need to be taught the house rules kindly.

Story
I got Shadow from a breeder. He is a 9 month old puppy. I can no longer keep him because he needs a bigger space and I live in a apartment. He is the sweetest hyper boy. He does need training on the leash because he pulls. He also needs training around other dogs. He is potty trained. He deserves to go to a happy home

Story
We do not adopt dogs just from phone calls or emails. Please do not fill in adoption forms anywhere else, but on OUR web site. Thanks for that. To start our adoption process, please fill out our form on our web site at: www.spokanewienerdogs.org and see the Adopt a Dog/Fee page with more details on how we adopt our dogs. There are a lot of questions answered on our web site and personality details below about each dog BELOW so please READ BEFORE getting in touch. We already answer 500+ emails a day. We do answer questions on dogs once our adoption paperwork is filled in so we can match to the right homes. Please indicate which dog you are interested in on our adoption form. If their name says "pending home" then they are not available and are on a test drive with a new family. We do remove our dogs when our adoptions are final so please do not ask us if dogs are available if you see their ads. There is an adoption fee of $250 for this dog. Carmella came from a senior's home who was going senile. She came into us with a lot of fear but we are working with her until placed. We prefer a home with another small dog who is mentally healthy to help pop Carmella out of her fear mode. We were told she was part dachshund when she came and she is more part terrier. This is a small medium sized dog whose head comes up to my knee. Carmella came in fat but is now on a diet and will finish around 20 pounds or so. She is great with other dogs but people are still scary. That fear and separation anxiety can be retrained when she is basically a sweet dog once she knows someone. She is slowly settling in here but he will need an experienced adopter who knows he might take a year or two of work in her new life. If you do not have that kind of time and patience than this is not your dog.

Story
No phone calls or emails please to adopt when we answer 500+ emails a day now thanks to the dog rescue. Thanks for NOT filling up our inbox when most of your questions can be answered online by reading FIRST at the link below and click the dogs's photos for their bios and details you need to start our adoption process. For our most currently listing of adoptable dogs: http:// www.drnw.petfinder.com Our main web site: http://www.spokanewienerdogs.org All of these dogs have been placed already. These dogs are representative of the wieners that we have at our rescue, Dachshund Rescue NW. We have been rescuing since 1991 and placed 157 in 2016 and 145 placed in 2017 alone. We have now placed over 1,700 homeless dogs since we started our dog rescue in 1991. Many folks come back to adopt from us again and again. Our dogs are always guaranteed so we make sure they are in the right homes. Check out our Facebook page as well as our Better Business Bureau rating of A+ since we started this rescue. Sorry, we do not ship our dogs out of the area. Folks need to come to us to adopt. We do not have time to sit in parking lots like puppy mill breeders. Plus we want to make sure the dogs all get along so we encourage folks to bring their dogs for a meet and greet here. We also do test drives and take back if not working and trade for another one if needed. All dogs we placed are guaranteed which is why we have so many Five Star ratings on our Facebook page when we match the dogs to the right homes if folks fill in our paperwork to adopt first THEN we contact them or just keep referring them back to read the dog's bios again. ;-) We do adopt to secure fenced yards in town. We do not adopt to invisible fencing, apartments, condos or town homes usually as this is a hunting dog breed and they need exercise. We do adopt to farms without fencing when this breed has room to run. This breed does have large voices so too noisy for most apartment or condos situations when they are good watch dogs. Most of the dogs in this breed are active and are rarely couch pillows so they need to run a lot when bred to be hunting dogs. Dachshunds are not recommended for children under age 8 and many we get could not handle young children. They are not a good babysitting sort of breed and the number one reason we rescue them is they have already chomped kids. So we do adopt to older children depending on the dogs and their preferences. Please do your breed research before adopting any dog or mix. Thanks. That means read about them and their quirks. Dachshunds have more quirks that any breed on this planet like not peeing in the rain unless their people stand there and make them go.
