Story
Checkers is looking for a special family who will work with his megaesogphagus which is a condition that requires him to eat pureed food from a high chair. Dogs with this condition can live long and productive lives. Currently his condition requires that he be feed 4 small meals a day sitting in a highchair or an upright position. He needs to remain upright for about 20-30 minutes after each meal to ensure he will not throw up. He is still a lively pup that loves to play with his siblings and other dogs, however this is a condition he will have for life. He should reach around 40-50lbs when full grown. Like all Mikey's Chance dogs, this dog will come to you from a foster home that has provided loving one-on-one attention, socialization and some basic training, as well as quality food and exercise. Applications can found at our website mikeyschance.com. Please note that adopters are not chosen on a first come, first served basis, but full consideration is given to the best fit for the dog AND the adopter. Applications can 2-4 weeks to process, application submission does not guarantee approval for adoption.

Story
Born July 6, 2019, Ara is a female German Shepherd mix seeking a forever home. Here is what her foster mom says about her, "Ara is a super sweet, beautiful girl. She loves to observe everything going on around her. She has her energetic moments but overall she's a great cuddle bug. She has this sweet, melting brown eyes. She is cautious when company comes, she likes to go into her kennel and watch them for a bit before she comes out to greet them, she likes to assess her surroundings. Ara is an amazing girl and will steal your heart if you look into her eyes ? Ara knows basic commands: sit, kennel, outside, easy." Like all Mikey's Chance dogs, this dog will come to you from a foster home that has provided loving one-on-one attention, socialization and some basic training, as well as quality food and exercise. Applications can be found at www.mikeyschance.com and completed on a computer, tablet, and/or phone. Story
Theo would be a good pet for an older person or no kids or other pets in the family. He can be aggressive towards children, cats, and other dogs, and displays fearful behavior along with lunging, nipping, and staring. He knows commands to come, sit, heel, and lay down. Theo was adopted from a friend of the family at about 8 weeks old has never seen a shelter, and I would prefer to find a home for him than surrender.

Story
Reeves was hit by a car in April 2017 and left scared and severely injured on the side of the road. We soon learned his spine had been severed and he's lost the use of his back legs. We brought him to WSU on May 16th to see if there was any chance that surgery could fix his back but it was not possible and he has about a 5% chance of regaining the use of his back legs. He is not in pain, and after consulting with some vet specialists who we trust, we were assured he could live a pain free happy life. With the outpouring of love and support from our community of dog lovers, Mikey’s Chance plans to provide this sweet pup what he needs to live a long and happy life. Reeves is incontinent and does require a catheter twice a day to empty his bladder. He can poop on his own but he has no control over when or where it will happen. Reeves does have a scoot bag to help him get around inside the home and also a specially fitted wheelchair for outside and inside mobility. He LOVES other dogs and children, cats are an unknown but since he is unable to chase he is likely considered safe around them. Daisy

Great Pyrenees

Female, 10 yrs 8 mos

Size
(when grown) X-Large 101 lbs (46 kg) or more
Details
Good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Daisy is an approximately 4year old female Great Pyrenees. She enjoys going on walks, and napping in the sun. As a Great Pyrenees, she is prone to resource guarding (particularly food and the property). She will reflexively bite in warning if she is startled out of sleep, if you touch her when she's trying to rest or nap, you appear to be stealing her food (if you take away an unfinished bowl), or if you get in the way of her protecting the property.Daisy has been to doggie daycare, she did very well playing with the other dogs there. She loves belly rubs and attention and genuinely loves her owners. Daisy will require owners who have breed experience. She has been raised as an indoor dog but she loves running the yard during the day. She’s dog door trained and crate trained. Daisy much prefers women over men so this is something to be mindful of. We do not recommend homes with children under age 12. No small dogs, cats or other small animals.
