Story
Sully comes an environment of abuse, and will need an experienced and patient owner to help continue socializing him to men particularly. He bonds very quickly to those working with them, but does have fear behavior meeting some men (big bark, retreating). He plays well with female dogs over males, is not for a cat home, or a home with children at this time. He has good basic commands and leashwork but is still nervous in the vehicle.

The Rock

American Pit Bull Terrier

Male, 10 yrs 4 mos
High River, AB
Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Details
Not good with kids, Not good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
The Rock was seized by RCMP when his owner was arrested for outstanding warrants. Unable to make arrangements for him, we have taken responsibility for rehoming. He is all Pit, strong and strong willed, and is not trustworthy with other dogs or with cats. But he is affectionate and loving with humans (although we've done no work with children as yet). Walking him is like walking a tractor! He is seriously strong and not for a rookie dog-owner. His exercise needs are fairly low, and he's quite happy to lay on his cushy bed until it's time for a walk or run. Serious and experienced inquiries only.

Story
Rusty is a big dog (!), very large for a Shepherd. He is very good with other dogs, and enjoys playtime with just about every dog we've paired him with. He won't be for a home with children, nor is he completely trustworthy with cats. He is well trained on leash, in the vehicle and with basic commands, an easy dog to work with as he loves his treats! Rusty does have low level pannus and requires daily eye drops. An overall great dog, people bonded and affectionate.

Monty

Pit Bull Terrier Husky

Male, 9 yrs 4 mos
High River, AB
Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Details
Not good with kids, Good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Monty is "a lot of dog" as the saying goes! His exercise needs are high so no couch-folks for him! He is incredibly agile and can scale a 6 ft fence should he choose. He is strong on leash and would need an experienced handler to help him understand just who is walking who! His play style with other dogs is quite rough, so although he wants to engage, many dogs are turned off by his meet/greet style. He has prey drive on cats and isn't to be trusted with them. Monty is crate trained, is a bit unsettled initially in the vehicle but does settle, and despite his exuberant nature, he is affectionate and loving with humans. He's way too much for children under teenage years.

NEW ADOPTION PROCESS: Please fill in the Dog Lifestyle Survey found on the How to Adopt page on www.calgaryhumane.ca (please include my name and animal reference number) and e-mail it to adopt@calgaryhumane.ca if you are interested in adopting me! Serious inquiries only. Hiii y'all! My name is Boomer and I am a sweet sweet boy looking for a home to call my own. My ideal home will have dog experience and lots of energy and patience to provide me with the daily exercise I need as well as help me work on my manners. A nice fenced backyard would be pretty sweet too! My friends at the shelter believe that attending Polite Pooches would be amazing for us together, we can learn and grow our bond stronger. Kiddos are pretty awesome, but I am looking for a home where they can't be so easily knocked over, because I get pretty excited and a very big boy. Therefore, I am looking for a home with no human siblings under 14 years old. Doggie siblings would potentially be cool, but it's important they have a similar energy level and size, and are as confident and playful as I am. Food is life and so I'm not the best at sharing it, adopters must be willing manage and help me work on resource guarding if there's another pupper around. As for kitties, they must be dog savvy for it to work out between us.

Serious inquiries only.Behold hoomans, Walter here! I am a young, energetic, fun loving boy looking for a home to call my very own. I was a stray so my friends at CHS don't know much about my past. I am looking for a patient and experienced home that can help me work on my manners, including walking on a leash... those things are just no fun, you know? I'll also need some help with house training. A fenced in backyard is a must to help me burn extra energy. Couch potatoes need not apply, because a young boy like will need plenty of play time. Small animals are just a little too fun so it is best if there is none in your home. Kiddos can be pretty awesome, but I need me some that are not so easily knocked over, so 8+ would be best. If I sound like a good match to your home, contact my friends in adoptions to learn more about me. I can't wait to meet you!
