Domino Blanket Thief Domino’s Woof-Facts (Instagram hashtags #domigoat #ohdomino) Male, Great Dane, Aussie, Beagle, and Rottweiler mix (as per my DNA test!), 8 years old, 45 lbs. Calm demeanor with a playful side Loves people, car rides, fetch, lounging and a good scratch! Has a deformed snout (hey, it worked for Barbra Streisand) and an under-bite that’s too cute for words! Dog and cat friendly; kid friendly with some precaution Housebroken Would love a fenced-in yard for playtime together Quick Introduction to Domino Hi there, I’m Domino! Those closest to me have given me a pet name -- it’s “Domigoat”. Reason being, I have a beyond-adorable under-bite, a silly playfulness that resembles a goat, and when I’m excited, I perform a small, quick hop with just my front half along with a 360-spin. I’ll admit, goats are utterly precious, so I think of this pet name as a fantastic compliment. I absolutely love people, going on car rides, playing fetch with my tennis ball, and sleeping in a comfy bed. I’m also an expert at giving light-and-friendly love-nibbles (instead of licks) – I know just the amount of nibble to give. And I love nothing more than to squeeze my way in for a good scratch from my humans. Lately, I’ve been reading about this craze of “doing yoga with goats”, where a yoga teacher leads a class of humans while goats interact with the yogis . All I have to say about that is: sounds amazing, so what about doing yoga -- or just hanging out in every-day life if that’s your preference -- with me? Each day, right in our own house -- no need to go to the countryside to be with real goats (not that there’s anything wrong with that)… you can share your life with me, your very own “Domigoat”. Domino’s Background I had a family in my past life, living with my human mom and two other dogs. My mom came upon hard times, had to move suddenly and could only find habitation arrangements to accommodate two of her dogs. Since the other dogs were both older and ill, she made the difficult decision of surrendering me to a rescue group in hopes to find me a great home, while she continued to care for my older and sick furry siblings. The goodbye was very emotional, we still miss each other, rightfully so, but I’ve settled wonderfully into my foster home with Rescue Haven Foundation, and we are beyond excited to find my forever-after. This will make all of us, including my prior mom, truly happy. Domino’s Typical Day in Foster Home My days consist of either accompanying my foster mom and sister to work, where I am adored by all who meet me at their office, or staying home and relaxing. On the days I stay home, around lunch time, human friends visit to say “hi” and take me out to do my business (just so you know, I can make the full work-day without having to pee/poop, but if my foster mom wants to offer me this extra human touch, I’ll take complete advantage of it). Each day, we go for early morning and evening walks, with one last walk right before bedtime. I typically encourage my humans to let me sleep in bed, and sometimes I do win. We’ve found that I love rearranging my bed and blankets; sometimes I’ll drag them clear across the room until they’re “just right”. I admit, I may occasionally use them as a pacifier, arranging them in his mouth until they’re “just right” too, at which point I doze off happily and peacefully (maybe I got that skill from my goat ancestors, lol?!?). My foster family simply laughs at my antics – which warms my heart! Living with Domino I’m both dog and cat friendly, with proper introduction, which is standard. I currently live in a foster home with one shepherd mix, one lab/pit mix and several cats. I have mild food/resource guarding behavior with both animals and humans; to date, I'm very appropriate when expressing my discomfort so I have only growled, never bitten, so this would need to be monitored. Domino’s Medical Not sure if you can tell from my photos, but I have an (adorably) deformed snout which may require some special considerations as it affects the way I eat and drink somewhat. My foster mom will tell you how she prepares my food which is easy peasy! I may also have small, undetectable seizures. Medical testing for this has been inconclusive so far, and no treatment for seizures have been prescribed at this time since they are so mild and infrequent. Domino’s Forever Home My foster mom says that I’m as low maintenance of a dog as they come, aside from what’s mentioned above. We feel I’d be a good fit into various types of family situations. Having a fenced-in yard would be ideal so we can play together (yoga not required). So if you find me and my under-bite irresistible, please fill out an adoption application with RHF. I’ll drag my blankets and bed straight over to you, and each night, we can say maaaaa-maste before we tuck ourselves in for a good night’s rest, happily and peacefully.
