Story
Thor is a 5 yr old German Shepherd/lab mix. He was rescued from Highland County Humane Society. He is very loving to his owners, and thinks he is a big baby. At 82 pounds he still thinks he is a lap dog. After having my daughter he begin showing signs of being unsure around her, and now with a new baby he is increasingly evasive of the kids all together. He does great with other dogs, and adults/older children or teens (He loves my 10 yr old) but prefers to be away from small children. He has never nipped or bit or been aggressive toward someone but food aggression has started since the baby start and warning growls. We love him very much and I think he would be very loving to adults without small children. My only concern is finding someone that will love and protect him like we have for the last 5 years.

Story
Woofers. My name is Copper. I'm told I am adorable and everyone fusses over my ears. People are weird and kinda scary to me. You see, several months ago me and my brother (Todd) got caught in a dog trap and taken to a shelter. We'd never been around people before and boy oh boy we were sooooo scared. Then we got to go to HALO where people were always coming into our room to sit with us. We would get so scared we would go potty trying to get away. Anyhoo, we ended up going into different homes to "help build confidence," and I was told I relied on Todd too much. I love being in my foster home with other dogs and they have taught me so much! I'm still scared of people and going places, but I'm making "puppy steps." I know I will never be like those other dogs because well I just didn't get a good start in my life. I feel most safest in my crate and that's the only way I can get leashed to go by-by. Speaking of by-by, I need my GPS on at all times because I like to runaway, and a good sturdy fence. It only happened once, but my foster mom said she had a heart attack for like 5 hours or something. I had a great time because I kept circling around her so she couldn't get me. I was pooped when I finally decided I needed to go back home with her (I ran 18 miles!). I would LOVE to be someone's Valentine and to have my people understand me and my uniqueness! Just keep in mind, I will not be the kinda dog that likes to go places and meet new people. I'm super shy and it's way to scary out there for me. I promise to make you smile and when I come to you for a kiss, you will have your world rocked! ##502392##

Story
Rosie is an amazing dog, she’s lovable, great and friendly with kids. She can easily get intimidated with dogs that are her size or bigger so she will need eased into that relationship. She loves cats, great with puppies. She can get attached very easily, so she’ll need a lot of love. She loves to run outside but if she does not know the area that well she will figure it out, by running around multiple times until she’s comfortable. (Block and street)

Story
Remington was purchased as a year old puppy trained by a prison inmate for the purpose of adoption. Remington came to us with all his initial shots, neutered, and potty-trained. He is mild manner - excellent with kids, strangers, cats, and dogs. We have owned him since 2011, and he only barks when he sees deer. He craves attention and affection, loves going on walks. We have kept Remington in our garage but during cold winters we bring him into our mudroom. Remington could stay in the home, but due to his shedding we have elected to keep him in the garage and mudroom areas. Remington has a skin allergy and he is taking Apoquel. We are seeking to re-home him because we are becoming empty-nesters and can no longer give him the care and attention he needs.

Story
Hello! My name is Elmer. I have been with Halo and my Foster family for a few months now. I was pulled from a shelter and I'm so thankful. The shelter is no place for an old fella like me. Let me tell you a little about myself...I am a big fan of relaxing days on the couch. I like to just wrap up and sleep the day away. I don't necessarily love to be outside unless you are out there with me. I will, however, go out and go potty, but I hate to be out by myself. My foster mom thinks that maybe before I came to Halo, I might have been a dog chained up outside. My leash manners are lacking...but I'm trying my best to learn. I do get a little mouthy about other dogs when I'm on my leash. My foster mom and the nice ladies at Halo are going to be helping me with that. Again, they think it ties back to me being chained up.  I am a perfect gentleman in the house and my crate. I've never had an accident. Not one.  I am excited to start looking for a family to call my own. I hope someone perfect has a nice spot for me on their couch. ##466573##
