Dixie was my son's dog that he got when she was a puppy. She will 7 yrs old in February. She has always been up to date on all shots. She loves to be around people, kids or other dogs. She has been primarily in the house since she was a pup but loves to be outside. She would do well in a home with a family or a couple. She likes to run and play. I would describe her as energetic but at the same time she can be very calm. She likes for someone to just sit & pet her! She would do best in a large yard or acreage where she can run. I no longer have the yard that she needs plus not home enough to fair to her. I want her to have her forever home with someone to love her!

When I first meet people I am a little hesitant, but if they pass the smell test I let them rub my belly. And I don’t care if there is room or not, I will try to sit in your lap. I like to be the alpha so I would do best home will be with strong, dog experienced parent(s) and as an only dog or with a submissive smaller female dog. I am crate trained and use the bells to go outside to do my business (and sometimes to just go run and play), and I know the basic commands of "sit" and "leave it" for treats and my food. I am great at chewing on dog bones/toys and love to snuggle with my foster mom sometimes too! I was found in East Texas on a deer lease by a nice guy who lives close to my foster mom when I was just a little 8 week old puppy. I was a little shy at first, but I really like people now....and the other dogs in my foster home too! Belle was born in January 2015 and we adopted her in December 2015 from Carrollton Animal Shelter. Her first owner had to give her up due to Belle having too much energy for their other "older" dog. She has been a good dog. She loves children. She does not do well on a leash so she would need some training there. She is a runner and is very fast. Sometimes I will open the gate in backyard and she will sprint down 5 houses and then come back. She is also a fairly quiet dog and only barks when someone comes to front door or she can hear rabbits on other side of fence. It is disappointing that we need to give her up but she deserves more in owners that will spend time with her.
