Story
Marceline is a gorgeous, active girl. She came to the MCHS after going unclaimed at the city pound. She is smart and powerful and would definitely benefit from an experienced owner who can give her the training, exercise, and stimulation that she needs. She is not a dog for a couch potato lifestyle. She would do best as the only dog in the home. We don't know how she is with cats and have no way of finding out.. Her adoption fee is $125. Marcy is now 5-6 years old. She would be an easy dog to train as she learns very quickly. She would do best in an adult only home. Teens are fine. We do think that she would benefit from a securely fenced yard. This gorgeous girl has been with us far too long! We are open on Sundays from 2-4 and Tuesdays from 4:30-6. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

Story
Dixie is an 8 year old pit bull type gal who came to the shelter as a surrender. She looks like a pittie from her head to the middle of her body and like a bulldog from the middle of her body to her stubby tail. She has had at least one litter of puppies. Dixie is adorably on the chunky side, weighing around 73 pounds. She has been completely vet checked, spayed, and chipped and her fee is $125. Dixie is a good girl. She does need some basic training with a gentle, understanding hand. She does well with kids, but does need to be the only dog in the home. She is a loving lady who is very attentive to her people. She seems to crave affection and security. We are open on Sundays from 2-4 and Tuesdays from 4:30-6. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. Story
Basil is one of nine dogs who came to us from a small hoarding situation in town. He appears to be a chihuahua mixed with some sort of wire haired breed. We think he's around 2 years old. Like all of the dogs from this household, he is very shy and unsure of himself. It does take a bit of time for him to warm up and learn to trust. Once he does, he's affectionate, playful, and a lot of fun. He has been fully vet checked and neutered and his fee is $125. Basil is looking for a patient, ADULT only home. Teens should be okay. He will require time and basic training. Basil is very attached to his "brother" Barrett. We would love to see them adopted together. The fee for each dog, alone, is $125. For both, it is $200. We are open on Saturdays from 10-11:30, Sundays from 2-4, and Tuesdays from 4:30-6. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport, behind Spectrum. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventative, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

Story
Colette originally came to us in Aug., 2018, when she was around 2 years old. We think she's a husky mix of some kind. She can definitely be a handful and is a highly active, energetic gal. She is friendly and loves all people. However, she is a runner so she needs a very secure environment. A secure fenced yard would be ideal. She needs someone who is ready, willing, and able to exercise her -- A LOT. Boredom is her arch nemesis. Colette has been fully vetted and her fee is $125.  Colette is a happy clown of a dog but her propensity to run has caused her to be adopted and returned twice now. She would do best as the only dog in the home. No cats for her! She would be a great running or hiking companion and a nice all around family dog. We are open on Saturdays from 10-11:30, Sundays from 2-4, and Tuesdays from 4:30-6. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport, behind Spectrum. Story
Ariana is a 5 year old miniature Australian Shepherd who weighs around 18 pounds. She is a petite diva, like her namesake Ariana Grande. Ariana came to us via one of our rescue friends after she was released from a commercial breeding facility. Like most of the dogs that come from this sort of situation, she is pretty shy and not accustomed to a lot of the "normal" things in life. She does seem to like people and is pretty okay with being touched and held. She does need to be spayed and her fee is $150. PLEASE NOTE:  Secure fenced yard required. No underground fencing! We're not going to sugarcoat anything. Ariana does need training and a lot of patience. She needs to learn about leashes and how to walk on them. She will need a securely fenced area. She would do best in a calm, ADULT only home (teens are okay). She should be okay with dogs of similar size and we don't foresee any issues with cats. We are open on Saturdays from 10-11:30, Sundays from 2-4, and Tuesdays from 4:30-6. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport, behind Spectrum. Story
Mickey is one of two dogs seized by law enforcement from horrible conditions in Oct., 2015. He was the more timid of the two dogs. Since he's been at the shelter, he has learned to trust people and is learning to play. He has come a very long way from the skinny and scared guy of 4 years ago and is a volunteer favorite. He is fully vetted, neutered, and microchipped. His fee is $125. Mickey will need a very patient and experienced owner who is willing to work with him at his pace. He is still a work in progress. Treats work wonders with him. He needs a secure and somewhat quiet home. He does do well with other dogs. We think kids over 10 would be best. We have no way of testing with cats. We are open on Saturdays from 10-11:30, Sundays from 2-4, and Tuesdays from 4:30-6. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE In Austin, right next to the airport.
