Story
Opal is a German Shepherd Husky mix and approximately 95 lbs. Se came to our shelter as a stray from Hastings and was not reclaimed. She is now spayed, up to date on shots, and microchipped. She is shy at first but once she trust you all she wants is love and attention. She will nudge at you until you give her some love. She is a very sweet gentle girl. She does have some hip issues starting and sometimes has a hard time moving around. We call her our Eeyore because she just moves in slow motion, but she loves to play with a tennis ball. She loves the game of fetch! She is not potty trained and will need to work on her manners. She thinks she can ram right in to for attention. ADOPTION FEE: $100

Story
Sampson is a 4-5 year old fluffy dog mix who weighs about 15 pounds. :) He could be poodle/maltese/lhasa - everything is our best guess. He's a sweet boy! He loves affection, wants to be a lap dog, and likes to play with toys at times. He is does okay with other dogs, although he doesn't want them constantly in his face. Sampson would be a great only dog as well. Sam does fine with all the dogs at his foster home - he just likes to have his own space at times. He will growl at the other dogs to tell them to give him space. He does not show interest in playing with other dogs, but he does like to play with toys at times. He is not much of a barker, and is crated while his foster is not home. Sam is very smart, and knows many commands - he has been to a couple training classes before. Sam has a very strong personality, so he needs an experienced owner who will be his alpha, and tell him what is or isn't okay. His owner needs to have some experience with dog behavior and dominant-minded dogs. He will try to challenge you right away, but if you pass the test, you've got a friend for life. He will snap at people he doesn't think are strong enough leaders. Every situation needs to happen on his owners terms, otherwise Sampson will think he gets to decide what happens. He does good in his foster home because he sees his foster as his alpha. He has the potential to mark in the house, especially if other dominant dogs are around. Everyone in the house needs to be Sam's pack leader, so best with kids 15 and up who are more able to be assertive dog owners. Sam is a great boy who just needs to find the right home for him to be successful! Sampson is a good dog, but he is not easy for the average dog owner. He needs a strong, very experienced family. Adoption Fee: $300 ( cash only , no checks) Foster to call: Katie - 605-695-5126 or krkallemeyn@hotmail.com text are preferred Our fosters do the best they can to provide all information about the animal's background and temperament while in foster care in their home. An adopters routine and home environment is likely going to be different than that in their foster home. Sometimes there is more that comes out about a dog's personality once they have been able to settle in a home and truly become comfortable. There are great articles out there written about the different stages a pet goes through after adoption, discussing transitions that happen at 3 days, 3 weeks, and 3 months. We highly recommend reading about this - it will help you understand the transition your new pet goes through.

Story
Alvin is a two year old pittie mix who came to us from a shelter where he wasn't doing very well. He is about 50 pounds. He is good with other dogs. Alvin knows some commands - he knows sit, down, come, and no. He is really good most of the time but he is strong, puppy behavior so we would not recommend children under 14. He is getting a refresher on housetraining in his foster home - all dogs need a bit of a refresher when they move to a new house and a new routine. Adoption fee is $350.00 (no checks) Foster to contact: Katie - 605-695-5126 (text preferred) or krkallemeyn@hotmail.com

Story
I have many different personality traits, as vast as a mountain range! I am Rocket, a 7 year old, male Terrier mix. I'm the perfect size at 42 lbs, but I take up more bed space than you might think! Even so, I like my own bed, which I tuck myself into at night. My perfect human is someone who is very patient and can create a toolbox of solutions to help me with my challenges. I am slow to trust, but have learned that people are fun to be around. I don't consider myself a lap dog, but I do enjoy petting and grooming. I also like to give kisses! My foster parents said I'm the best road trip dog around. Whether in my kennel or roaming in the car, I am quiet as a mouse and in seventh heaven. Aside from car rides, I love to play. My favorite toys are the squeaky kind. I am a sweet dog looking for a "furever" home. I'm one smart cookie and know lots of commands! I like going on walks and I do well on leash. I'm a happy go lucky guy who is filled with so much love to give. I LOVE to chill with older kids on the couch or out in the backyard. In all honesty, I love people and attention. I would do best in a house with no cats or small dogs, since I get along with dogs more my size best.
