Story
Mario is a 2 1/2 year old " Blue Nose" (dark gray) American Pitbull Terrier. Words we use to describe him: Happy, Athletic, Eager to please, Goofy, Energetic, Handsome & Muscular. Mario came to us last March and tested Heartworm disease positive. After months of difficult treatments he is now healthy and ready for adoption. Mario gets along with other dogs, but he can be overwhelming for some because of his eagerness to play. He would do best in a home without cats. His favorite activities are playing fetch, going for walks & runs, playing tug, and cuddling. Mario is a fetch MANIAC, which is his favorite way to use up his energy! He also likes to sit quietly while being pet and talked to calmly, which he finds soothing. He is currently working on basic commands and house manners and is catching on fast. Mario is extremely food and toy motivated so keeping his attention is not a problem. He knows sit, stay, side and lay. On cold winter days he likes to release energy by playing tug and trading tricks for treats. Mario requires daily exercise, consistency, and discipline; he would do best with an experienced dog owner. Mario is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccinations. He is heartworm negative and his forever home will have to be very careful to make sure he gets his heartworm preventative every month. His adoption fee is $425.00 plus sales tax. Please fill out a preadoption application if you would like to meet this gentleman.

Story
Indy is a 2yo female heeler/border collie that is well trained, but remains reactive to other dogs and people. She would do best with an active individual or individuals. She has been running with my father in law and done wonderfully! She is 100% house broken and kennel trained. She is very smart and learns things very quickly. She goes out and plays ball almost daily off leash. She has a great recall and if a ball is included, she doesnt pay attention to anything else around her. She and our other dog are not working out together and therefore I feel she would do best as an only dog. She has been around my nephew and niece so has been around infant to 5years old. I would not say she is dangerous with them, but would do best with kids that are a bit older.

Story
Enzo is an amazing boy! Please watch his video for a full recount of his journey to this point. He was pulled from a shelter in CA after our heartstrings were broken. Enzo had LOTS of unrestrained energy but after 3 years of walks, and love and learning restraint and patience, he is READY! He loves his buddies as you can see with his friend Sam who dug under the kennels to come to visit! We will be very particular because Enzo can climb that same 6-foot chain link fence just to go explore the world. He loves being the center of attention. He kennels, he downs, sits and is learning to shake. He is getting better about cats but doesn't always know his own strength with them sometimes. He is also pretty clumsy and will too easily knock over little ones so small children in the household would be discouraged. Experienced pit bull owner with vet references only, please. We are also looking for a foster family for him and will pay for them to take him to training classes. He is learning to wear a gentle leader and is doing well.

Story
My wife & I got Bella when she was 6 weeks old in the fall of 2016. We did basic training with her, so she is fully potty trained & can sit. We soon realized I have a strong allergy to dogs (I tested positive twice). We made alterations in our home for my allergies & Bella. However, fast forward to now since having a newborn, Bella is still hyperactive & needs attention as she still did as a puppy. We just do not have the time to put towards Bella now with a newborn & that's only going to continue. I am also nervous with Bella's energy levels about being near our newborn, as a dad that makes me constantly nervous for our newborn. And especially with my dog allergy, I can't be exposing myself to more allergies. Bella is a good dog though, she just needs owners who will give her the time and attention she needs & wants since she loves to play.

Story
Sampson is a 4-5 year old fluffy dog mix who weighs about 15 pounds. :) He could be poodle/maltese/lhasa - everything is our best guess. He's a sweet boy! He loves affection, wants to be a lap dog, and likes to play with toys at times. He is does okay with other dogs, although he doesn't want them constantly in his face. Sampson would be a great only dog as well. Sam does fine with all the dogs at his foster home - he just likes to have his own space at times. He will growl at the other dogs to tell them to give him space. He does not show interest in playing with other dogs, but he does like to play with toys at times. He is not much of a barker, and is crated while his foster is not home. Sam is very smart, and knows many commands - he has been to a couple training classes before. Sam has a very strong personality, so he needs an experienced owner who will be his alpha, and tell him what is or isn't okay. His owner needs to have some experience with dog behavior and dominant-minded dogs. He will try to challenge you right away, but if you pass the test, you've got a friend for life. He will snap at people he doesn't think are strong enough leaders. Every situation needs to happen on his owners terms, otherwise Sampson will think he gets to decide what happens. He does good in his foster home because he sees his foster as his alpha. He has the potential to mark in the house, especially if other dominant dogs are around. Everyone in the house needs to be Sam's pack leader, so best with kids 15 and up who are more able to be assertive dog owners. Sam is a great boy who just needs to find the right home for him to be successful! Sampson is a good dog, but he is not easy for the average dog owner. He needs a strong, very experienced family. Adoption Fee: $300 ( cash only , no checks) Foster to call: Katie - 605-695-5126 or krkallemeyn@hotmail.com text are preferred Our fosters do the best they can to provide all information about the animal's background and temperament while in foster care in their home. An adopters routine and home environment is likely going to be different than that in their foster home. Sometimes there is more that comes out about a dog's personality once they have been able to settle in a home and truly become comfortable. There are great articles out there written about the different stages a pet goes through after adoption, discussing transitions that happen at 3 days, 3 weeks, and 3 months. We highly recommend reading about this - it will help you understand the transition your new pet goes through.
