Story
I am already neutered, housetrained, in need of an experienced adopter, up to date with shots, good with kids 13 years and older, good with most other dogs, however, I will chase cats. Marlo’s Story… Marlo is a super sweet boy. His two favorite things are fetch and snuggling on the sofa with his head on your lap. He loves his people so much and wants to be where they are. Marlo walks nicely on leash and will do a “watch me” when passing people and other dogs. He has completed level 2 obedience class. A physical fenced in yard or access to one would be ideal for him so he can play outdoors with his people. Marlo would enjoy living with another dog. He is a very intelligent dog and loves to “work”. He is past the puppy and adolescent stages so he doesn’t need constant supervision. Adoption fee is $250 plus tax. Please email us at info@actvrescue.org. Inquiries with in 1 hour of downtown Minneapolis. Looking forward to hearing from you!

In addition to the following profile for this dog, please first read the Adoption Information at http://www.shihtzurescuemn.org/adopt.html to understand the process, requirements and timeline for adoption. An adoption application can also be found in the Adoption Info section. If, after reading that information, you have any questions, please submit your question via e-mail and it will be answered. Please do not request a phone call. A personal phone call will only be made when an adoption application has been submitted and the foster parent wishes to consider the application. Thank you! Meet Odin, named after a one eyed Greek god, because he only has one eye. Even with only one eye, he gets along quite well, only a little more cautiously. He’s a big 25 pound boy, about 9 years old. He is a mix, and based on his sturdy build we believe him to be Shih Tzu and Bull dog. Odin came into rescue because his owners had to move to a facility that didn’t accept dogs. He has wonderful house manners, and gets along with people and other dogs. He is house trained and lets you know when he needs to go out by either barking or patting you on the leg. He especially likes to be by his people. He may be a big boy but he really enjoys sitting on your lap to get lots of petting. He also enjoys slow, leisurely walks as well as chewing on his toys. Because he only has one eye, Odin has problems with depth perception and is tentative about going up and down stairs and steps. His one remaining eye is a bit dry, and his foster parents put in artificial tears to keep him comfortable and to maintain the health of his eye. He does not like going to the veterinarian or being groomed, and needs to be medicated to make it easier for both him and the vet or groomer. A family with older respectful children would be best, or a home with no children, and he would be fine with another dog or as an only dog. Odin is neutered, current on vaccinations, microchipped, and on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. He has had a dental while he has been in our rescue. His adoption fee is $170.00 plus $12.79 sales tax for a total of $182.79. His foster parents prefer that his adopters live within 100 miles of St Louis Park, MN and would like his new family to commit to attending the Shih Tzu Rescue Annual Reunion in September. To meet Odin, please complete an adoption application at the website listed in the first paragraph. Or you can also see him and the other dogs available for adoption from Shih Tzu Rescue of Minnesota by visiting with us from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Minnetonka Petco near Ridgedale the first Saturday of every month.

Story
We had Odin since a puppy but never trained him fully or socialized him. He is house broken. Because of mismanagement, he has bitten our child couple of times. We don't have time to train him now with our child so regrettably he must be re-homed. He is really a very lovable and smart dog. He does know a few tricks. The picture was from this past 2019 Christmas where Odin was around our friends and their older kids. I would prefer Odin's new owner to have patience and knowledge on how to train a dog with behavioral issues. An excellent source is to watch old episodes of "It's me or the dog" on YouTube. I would not recommend someone that has young children or small dogs.

Story
Meet Patsy JR Name: Patsy. Favorite Self Help Book: The Art of Emuttional Muttnipulation: How to get your new owner to do your bidding by using the power of your cuteness. Age/Weight/Breed: I am a female, 2 year old, 45 pound playful Pitbull mix. Likes: I adore playing with the older kids that live at my Foster House and playing with fuzzy tennis balls and the rest of my toys. I also like treats! Something to Brag About: I walk really good on a leash. Not every dog can claim that! Plus I am house and crate trained. Dislikes: I do get intimuttdated by bigger dogs. So Foster Mom says I would need to do a meet and greet with any dog that I might have to live with. I lived here with a medium girl dog, but she got adopted and now I don’t have friends to play with. Final Ask: My main adoration is for humans. So if you are a human that would like a lone wolf but less hairy choose me. Maybe you want to be a one dog home and not collect dogs like potato chips, I would be a great choice! But if you do have a dog and don’t mind having the patience to let me give them a good sniffaround first, that would work too! GOD'S DOGS Rescue, in San Antonio TX, does not have a shelter. Our dogs are raised in foster homes in the San Antonio area. Each dog comes spayed or neutered, up-to-date with age appropriate vaccinations, micro-chipped, heartworm tested and are current with monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. ALL OF THIS IS INCLUDED IN THE ADOPTION FEE OF $400 for dogs over a year old, which also includes the cost of transportation to the assigned location. Medical records accompany each dog at the time of delivery and may be emailed to adopter prior to dog arrival if desired. Microchips will be automatically registered to the new owner after payment of adoption fee. The registration site we use is Michelson Found Animals which is free to use and update during the lifetime of your pet. Please allow 24-48 hours for the new information to appear on the website. God's Dogs will remain as the permanent back up registration for safety sake. Please visit our website http://godsdogsrescue.org/ for helpful information re: transport, our adoption process and application, volunteering and fostering, and photos of our dogs/pups looking for homes!! Story
My name is Foxie for my fox-like ears. But I most resemble a meerkat in coloring and expression and stamina and stature, but no self-respecting dog wants to be labeled after a kat, so I chose fox due to it being my canine cousin and all. Personality: If I were a toy, I would be a cat’s laser pointer, because I am bouncey and all over the place. I love to run and play. Could Use Some Work On: The Volunteer says I could use some practice on my leash walking ability, but honestly, I don’t think she gets the objective of the game. I pull and lead and the human follows along. Convince me I am wrong. Is this not how it works. What is the problemo? I see none. Cutest Move: My ear perks are on point. Favorite Exercise: Stomach crunches! I want some crunchy stuff in my stomach. I don’t really get how stomach crunches are an exercise, seems like putting crunchy kinds of stuff in your tummy would be the oppawsite of exercise. Doggitude: I love playing with people but could use a little manners with my jumps. I am a little too much for some of the dogs at rescue camp, the losers really. The losers that don’t like fun find me annoying and even pesky. Pesky. Me? I just prefer a playful dog over the serious type. I also tend to start off kinda pushy so that I don’t look like a pushover and not all dogs dig that either. Age/Weight/Breed: I almost forgot the important stats. I am 2 years old and 40 pounds. I was listed at the shelter as a Shepherd/Husky mix, but the volunteers find that questionable and feel I most resemble and act like a Shiba Inu. So I am rolling with that. Do you wanna roll with me?
