Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fee is $400-$800. if a biography does not otherwise say then it is $400. We will also post at the end of the evening the names of those dogs who have been adopted: www.facebook.com/DPSRescueAdoption Fee: $500 Eggsy is a 3 year old Siberian Husky who weighs 55lbs. He was rescued from the Korean meat markets. He was completely unsettled and when he finally realized he was somewhere safe he started to settle in.  Eggsy is looking for a home that understands Huskies. He likes to go on walks but he does pull. He will need either a no pull harness or a Halti of some sort. He does much better with an aide. He loves being outside like so many Huskies do and he really settles in much more easily when allowed outside freedom initially. Once he feels most comfortable he will be calm inside too. Eggsy is an option for medium or large size dogs. But like most Huskies small dogs can be seen as prey. Eggsy is only an option for a home that has had a dog as an adult. Large breed, Nordic breeds will be given preference. If there are children they need to be over the age of 10.

Best of luck in your search for another dog and pls check out some of the other DPS dogs!*** Adoption Fee: $500 Jasper is a 1 year old Morkie (Maltese-Yorkie mix). He weighs 11lbs. He was surrendered to our rescue from someone who found him but never found his home. He is the friendliest, go with the flow, hang out with you kind of dog. He comes into a house and it's as if he's been there forever. He adjusts immediately. He gets along with all kinds of folks whether they are 2 legged or 4 legged. He is like Mr. Rogers and everyone is his neighborhood! Jasper lives with big and little dogs in his foster home. He likes everyone. He is an option to go to a home that has dogs or an option to live by himself. He is an option to live in an an apartment or condo setting. He is an option to go to work with Mom or Dad once they return to work. For now, he'll gladly hang out with Mom or Dad while they work from home. This is every dog's dream! Jasper walks well on a leash. He appears to have had some training or experience on a leash at some point. His foster mom has continued that. Jasper sleeps in a crate but if he's honest, he'd love to sleep with his new people in the 'big bed'. Jasper is an option for novice or experienced homes. If there are children in the home they need to be 6 years or older.

We will also post at the end of the evening the names of those dogs who have been adopted: www.facebook.com/DPSRescueAdoption Fee: $400 Molly is a 12 year old Shih Tzu. She's a petite little gal at about 10lbs. She has a non-shedding coat that is an option for those with allergies or those who just want a dog who doesn’t shed. But work comes along with this glorious coat and she will need regularly grooming. She was a rescue with her daughter Mabel when their family was giving them away.  Molly is the sweetest girl you will ever meet. She won’t declare her love to you immediately but give her a day you will will be receiving kisses and lots of cuddles from her! She’s affectionate, gentle, calm and super cuddly.  She is fostered with 3 dogs and 1 cat. She gets along great with everyone but she is intimidated by the energy of the young lab in her foster. So if there’s a dog in her forever home, the best match would be a mellow and well mannered dog that isn’t looking to play as she’s past that stage in her life.  She currently sleeps in her foster moms bed at night and her foster mom often finds her sleeping on her head when she wakes up. Molly loves to be snuggled up against you. She is not very food motivated but LOVES Bixbi pocket trainers the peanut butter flavor. She goes bananas for those treats. Now you didn’t hear this from me but she’s also a big popcorn fan.  She is a little model and loves to wear clothes, dresses, sweaters, jackets, you name it and she’s worn it. She’s a very mellow girl and sleeps majority of the day. She won’t require much exercise and potty  walks are enough for this girl.  Molly is doing great on leash and potty training. If she’s taken out regularly she’s accident free. Molly is learning to use the dog door but it’s a little scary, so she will need some further guidance if her forever home plans to use a dog door. Molly has so much personality! Her foster mom cannot stop telling everyone how amazing she is.  Molly requires regular drops for dry eye which is typical for Shih Tzu's. She had an ear infection which we treated. She had a dental. And other than that, she is in great shape, healthy and ready to live out a long happy life with her new people. Molly is an option for a variety of homes from novice to experienced. She's an easy going gal. She is not a kid's dog per se. If there are children they need to be calm, relaxed kids over the age of 10. It's not an age issue for her as much as it is just not into the crazy small kid energy.

Best of luck in your search for another dog and pls check out some of the other DPS dogs!*** Adoption Fee: $600 Handsome is a 11 week old Beagle-GSD mix. He is expected to be in the 30-40lbs range when full grown. We received an email that a home had intercepted a puppy from someone taking him to the shelter and they just wanted to make sure he went to a good place and not the shelter. We agreed to take him in.  Handsome is very friendly, outgoing, energetic, definitely likes to be with his people or his “pack”. He has started potty training and has a great foundation. He goes out almost every hour and that will be lessened over time. He loves running around and playing outside.  Handsome has been fostered with other dogs and does great! He's going to be a great option to join another dog in his new home or be his people's one and only. He is going to be a dog who can go to the dog park or doggy day camp or even to work with his mom or dad, once he has all of his shots and is of age. He has that kind of temperament. He is a puppy and loves to chew Bully stick and toys! He’s learning that fingers and toes are not proper chew toys. Welcome to puppyhood. He has two modes, energetic and snuggler. He does like to snuggle with us on the couch and he likes to lick your face.  Handsome also lives with cats. In both his foster homes he has had cats. So he'll be a cat friendly, dog loving, people adoring kinda pooch for his new home. He is currently sleeping in an x-pen at night. He’s reluctant at first but then settles in for the night.  Handsome is only an option for those who have had a dog of their own in the last 3 years. If there are children in the home they need to be over the age of 8 and dog savvy.

She weighs 25lbs. She's a big gal and will probably be 60lbs or so when full grown. She was a rescue from the shelter. She was found running the streets and no one claimed her from the shelter. She was there for 2 months. Thankfully she received lots of socialization with staff and with other dogs. She is super friendly and outgoing. She is a typical Lab type of personality. Mathilda is currently living in a foster home with other dogs. She has a blast playing all day or sleeping. There's pretty much no in between. She is playful and then she crashes and is revived and up and playing again. She loves toys of all kinds. There probably isn't a toy she doesn't love. Don't give her a choice because she'll take them all out of the toy box and hoard them.  Mathilda hasn't proven to be a big barker. She makes noises when she is playing but she's not barking. Mathilda is learning to sleep in a crate. She is also learning how to use a doggy door.  Mathilda is only an option for those who have had a dog in the last three years. (This does not include family dog/roommate's dog/petsitting). If there are children then they need to be over the age of 6.
