Story
We took Leroy from a friend of a friend whose life circumstances were changing such that he could no longer care for a dog. Leroy was about 8 months old when we took him, and we've had him about 9 months since then. Leroy has struggled with fear/anxiety issues ever since we have had him - lunges at passerbys, barks at anyone coming to/into the house, o the point where it's difficult to have guests come over. We reached out to a dog behaviorist who helped us understand his fear-based behavior. In her opinion, he is very trainable, but it would require a huge time investment, something which we realize we are unable to do, with another dog, cats, and kids in the house. He is a super sweet, loving dog to our family, but needs a home with an experienced dog owner who can spend the time to exercise and train him properly. While he is sweet with our kids, he does have some unpredictable behavior around them sometimes and would do better in an adults-only house.

Story
Meet Avie. Avie was rescued from Contra Costa Animal Services (SF Bay Area) the day she was scheduled for euthanasia and is currently in the loving hands and home of a foster family who has a German Shepard that she’s quite smitten with. Avie is an energetic girl who loves being outdoors but also LOVES being a lap dog. She is ultra-loyal to her humans but will play with other dogs as well. In her first foster home, she spent alot of time on a sailboat and is comfortable on and around water. She loves playing with large dogs, especially German Shepard. She doesn’t do well with cats and children. In general, Avie prefers a calm, quiet home without a lot of chaos and stimulation. Avie would be happiest in a home with one or two adults who want a lap dog but also enjoy taking her to the park or out into nature. She’s good with sit and stay, she doesn’t damage furniture, she responds to her name and she’s completely house trained. Avie is a beautiful dog with a beautiful soul and the best smile who will bring her special someone a lot of happiness.🙂 Avie has the initial medical exam and past all the tests. All her required shots are up-to-date. She will be scheduled to have the spayed surgery before she is going to her forever home. Avie is patiently waiting for her forever home.
