Story
Sweet as a Twinkie? Yup, thats what they say about me! I am a 7 year old Chihuahua/Jack Russell Terrier mix. When I was only a few months old, my owner surrendered me to the pound. I was afraid and too young to be without my mommy. I was quickly taken to the back where they were going to put me to sleep, when an angel from I.C.A.R.E. intercepted and saved my life! I showed her how grateful I was by showering her with love and kisses. She said I was as sweet as a Twinkie! Since I was taken from my mommy so early, I have had some struggles, but I don't take life for granted. I am a great dog, but sometimes it takes me a while to trust people and I can be a little bit scared. But once I warm up to you, I'll be your best friend ever! I have a lot of energy and I get along great with other dogs. I would love to go to a home with another dog. I am also great on walks and think they are so much fun! I am ready to live life to the fullest! Can you be my furever family? Story
Moose is a loyal and relaxed pup who enjoys being lazy and laying in the sun, but also becomes an Olympian when chasing a tennis ball at the park. Her origins are a mystery. She was with a pet rescue that found her, got her vaccines up to date and spayed. We have had Moose under our care for just over a year now. She is a relaxed dog which is ideal for a small space, but loves to run around and chase other dogs or a ball when out in the open.

Story
Hi! My name is Josie and I am an adorable approximately 1 year old chihuahua mix! I came from a hoarding house in Bakersfield with over 40+ other dogs. We had little human contact and were never let outside, not even in the backyard! I have been learning what it is like to be a dog in a loving home. Watch my video playing with my foster sister! I am a mellow girl with patient and sweet personality. I love to snuggle under the blankets with you and play with my squeaky toys. Due to my lack of socialization the first year of my life, I am a bit shy at first. Since I am a bit shy, a home with no kids or older kids would be best for me. I would also need a person who is home more often than not.  I am potty trained and walk well on a leash. I would do best in home rather than apartment living as I can be vocal and I love my yard.  I do not appreciate car rides or travel.  I am an all around sweet girl looking for my forever home. Think that could be you? If you are interested in adopting, please visit the I.C.A.R.E. Dog Rescue website and complete an adoption application: www.icaredogrescue.org/ready-to-adopt Adoption fee includes: spay/neuter • shots up to date • micro-chip • fecal and vet checkClick here to watch a video of Josie.

Story
Do you like big cuddly bears? Then I am the dog for you! My name is Meya and I am a 6 year old, 60 pound Staffordshire, Husky and Chow mix who loves to climb into your lap and relax with you. I also love to go for walks and play fetch. I walk well on leash and I am great at bringing the ball back during games of fetch. I have learned the commands sit, down, off, out, and stay, but I am still working on drop and leave it. I am pretty easy to train because I love treats! I also love to be with my people and am happiest when I have them all to myself. I adore older kids and love to give kisses. I have been trained to sleep in a crate at night, but if you will let me I would love to sleep cuddled up with you. But, I prefer to be the only pet in your life; cats are definitely not for me. If you know my breed and are looking for a forever friend, look no further than me Meya!
