Story
There's a reason we named this little guy Buddy: He's the kind of dog that just wants to be your best friend. Buddy is the happiest when he's being held and cuddled by someone he loves. One rainy day he must have wandered away from his previous owner. Scared and soaking wet he knew to find a caring individual for help. Buddy saw an open door at the business down the street from AALOC and found a sweet lady who cared enough to scoop him up and bring him to our shelter. Unfortunately exhaustive efforts to find his previous owner produced no results. Buddy is now available for adoption. Buddy is small, about seven pounds, so extra care will need to be taken so he is not injured by small children or attacked by other animals. Chihuahuas make very loyal companions but do not understand their diminutive size - they will rush to protect their owners without consideration of the danger. They must also be protected from cold weather and falls. Buddy has a friendly disposition and appears to trust humans after just a short introduction. Small in size, but with a heart and personality bigger than his entire weight, Buddy would make a great companion! POTENTIAL ADOPTERS WITH DOG DOORS WILL NOT BE APPROVED DUE TO COYOTE ACTIVITY.

Story
These two little charmers, 9 1/2 and 10, recently came to AALOC’s no-kill shelter. They belonged to two elderly women who loved them very much. Sadly one of the women passed away, and the other entered a long-term care facility where she could not take the little dogs. Now these two seniors are looking for a new home where they can spend their golden years together in a new loving home. They have been evaluated by a vet and are in good health, although Pretty Girl is on a diet to lose a few pounds. They love every person who comes through the door, and just want desperately to be petted or held. They love to go for walks and seem to get along well with the other dogs. Please consider adding Little Squirt and Pretty Girl to your family. You would make such a big difference in their lives. Please note that AALOC only adopts to individuals in Orange County and surrounding areas. Small dogs will not be adopted into homes with dog doors due to high level of coyote activity. The adoption fee is $150. Every dog is vaccinated, spayed/neutered, microchipped. Please visit website for complete adoption criteria. www.aaloc.org

Story
A neighbor down the block needed to move and was unable to take these two little companions. So Bella and Gloria’s lives turned upside down one day when they were surrendered to AALOC. Bella and Gloria, both Chihuahuas, must be adopted as a pair since they have always lived together. Bella is the white and brown one. She is a bit more shy than Gloria and needs a little more time to warm up to new people. Gloria is the brown and white one; Gloria looks after Bella to make sure she is safe. Both are very sweet and with just a little bit of patience you will win their trust and their hearts. Similar in age and features, we believe this pair could be sisters. In some ways owning two Chihuahuas is better than owning just one. Chihuahuas tend to be “clannish” - they prefer other Chihuahuas and like to live in a pack. Diminutive in size, Chihuahuas are perfect choices for small yards and homes but because of their size they are safer in adult homes and must be protected from cold weather and falls. They love to take walks but don’t need long or very active sessions. Chihuahuas are also very smart and extremely loyal pets. Please consider adopting these sweet dogs. We recommend you stop by AALOC during visiting hours to meet Bella and Gloria and get to know him a bit before submitting an adoption application.
