Story
Meet Everest! He is a 2 yr old male Siberian Husky that weighs 77 lbs. He came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 4/22 as a stray. He is a big fluffy boy that appears to have had his own loving family at one time, lived inside and may be housetrained. He enjoys having his face and ears rubbed and will give you such a big smile, and lets not forget he gives kisses too. Everest has a calm gentle loving personality that wants to be close and cuddly and will lay at your feet just to enjoy your company. He walks ok on a leash tho he does pull a bit at times. Walking past other dogs barking at him, he didn't show any interest. Be sure if you have another dog in the home to ask the shelter for a dog test. He would need to have a tall secured fence in the backyard so he can run and play in, but come back inside resting on his own dog bed. If you are familiar with the breed's needs and personality, then Everest would like to meet you!

Story
This happy-go-lucky boy is Gulliver, an American pit bull mix picked up by one of our officers on 3/29 and brought to the Mesquite Animal Shelter. Gulliver weighs 70 pounds, is 3 years old and is neutered. He has a very interesting coat that is gray with streaks of light brown. Quite attractive! His ears are also unusual and he has the most adorable smile! It lights up his entire face! This fellow had his nose to the ground much of the time during the photo session! He is a very inquisitive fellow, and was obsessed with covering every square inch of the yard with his nose! He saw a dog through the gate and got extremely excited, wanting to go play with him. He is athletic and demonstrated it by climbing on our play equipment. He chases balls, but does not return them. He knows the sit and paw commands. He pottied in the yard. Gulliver is a friendly and sweet boy, and is more than happy to receive loving attention. It appears that his people are not interested in coming to reclaim so he's looking for a home in which he will be cherished, given plenty of TLC, and with people who will spend time daily playing with him, exercising him and giving him plenty of enrichment. Oh and did I mention that he does not wish to live as a backyard dog.

Story
Meet Cassie! She is a 2 yr old female Perro de Presa Canario/Terrier Pitbull mix that weighs 49lbs. She came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter as a stray on 2/26. Cassie is stunning with beautiful markings on her coat and golden eyes! She appears to have been well cared for yet her family has not come to reclaim her so she is up for adoption. She has a calm and gentle soul. The more time she spends with you, the more of a spark of excitement she has being with you. She loves to lay on a dog bed to be comfy and cozy, tho hasn't shown any interest in toys yet. She walks well on a leash and takes treats gently. As we walked through the shelter with the other dogs barking, she did meet a dog that was barking at her and it frightened her and stepped away but did not show any aggression. We always ask if you will have another dog in the home to please ask the shelter for a dog test. She has a gentle loving soul and would make a great family companion. Having a secured backyard to play in, but live inside where she can cuddle close to her human companions. That's what this beautiful girl deserves in a loving family.

Story
Colton is the complete package! Such a handsome gentle giant. He is a 3 yr old male Redbone Coonhound/American FoxHound mix that weighs 94 lbs. He came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter as a stray on 5/7 with another dog. This wonderful boy was definitely someone's pet as he is clean, very well mannered, and housetrained. He walks fantastic on a leash and takes treats gently. He enjoys walking close to his human companions and will look up at you with a big smile on his face. Being petted, given hugs and kisses, he truly enjoys it. He spent time investigating the shelter yard, and didn't show an interest in the other dogs barking as we walked through the shelter. Colton needs to be in a loving home environment, not an apartment, where he has his own secured backyard, a fluffy dog bed inside or he can cuddle with you on the couch watching a favorite TV show. You could not ask for a better companion. He is a volunteer favorite! Come spend time with him and you will understand why we have fallen for him
