Story
Dapper in his dark neckerchief, dear, demonstrative and undemanding Dewey has a tail that never stops wagging or thumping! Especially in anticipation of receiving a treat. Next to treats, going on walks and being petted and loved on are his favorite activities. Gentle and easygoing and a joyful addition to his foster home, he likes sitting with his foster mom to watch TV and will often snuggle with her in bed at night. He also enjoys spreading out on the sofa, lying outdoors on the grass to soak up some sun, and playing with his foster sibs. Uncertain about his traction on bare floors, he finds that putting one paw in front of the other on a runner makes it so much easier to reach the backyard. Now darling Dewey is putting one paw in front of the other in search of a home to call his, with or without another IG for company.

Story
Sophie is 17 lbs now. She is a sweet, scared little girl who must be loved on her terms. She will cuddle next to me but does not necessarily want to be petted. When she does want to be petted, she will use her nose to tell you. She sleeps at night in a crate and snuggles under a blanket. In the morning, I open her crate door and allow her to come out when she's ready. She does okay with other dogs but is past the playing stage. She also seems to be okay with cats. Sophie recently lost one of her back legs to cancer. She is able to do what she was able to do before and has bounced back quickly.  ##388318##

Story
A Tail of the Good, the Not So Good, and the Ugly The Good… Lucas is a puppy mill survivor.  He is a handsome, white with liver spotting 6-8 year old IG.  Lucas is affectionate and wants nothing more than to be with you.  He loves to sit next to you on the sofa and makes a great lap warmer. He walks well on a leash and is crate trained.  He gets along with large and small dogs and is cat safe.  The Not So Good… Due to his years of living in a small, crowded cage, Lucas is afraid of big, open spaces, especially outdoors.  He usually has to be carried outside and will run back indoors if you leave the door open.  He will stay close to you while he is outdoors.  Potty training is a work in progress—he is about 80-85 percent reliable if kept on a schedule.  Lucas takes medication to help with his anxiety. Lucas has come a long way since he was rescued from the puppy mill.  He still has the scars, but has made slow, but steady progress.  The Ugly… Lucas is one of the lucky ones who made it out of a puppy mill alive.  There are still hundreds of thousands dogs (and cats) who are trapped in a hell on earth.  Each of us can do something to help those still suffering in the mills.  Call a rescue group today and ask what you can do to help. Lucas has a lot of love to give and will make a wonderful companion for someone who has a lot of love to give back and a lot of patience to help him continue on his journey to become a loving member of a loving home.  He is being fostered in San Antonio.

Story
11/16/2019   Webster Bio Webster came to TIGR in Aug, 2016, from a puppy mill/ hoarding situation, living in deplorable conditions with little human contact. After three years in foster care, Webster is learning to be held, petted and playful!  He hangs out on the sofa with his people and other dogs.  He loves playing chase in the back yard with his dog friends.  He is still shy around people and doesn’t warm up to strangers quickly.  He will allow hugs and to be held, but you must get past his initial fight-or-flight response and really wrap your arms around him. Webster needs a special situation to call his forever home.  He will not be for a first time dog owner or even a first time Iggy owner.  He needs to have someone that has had experience with rescued mill dogs and dogs that are fearful of people. For more information, contact iginfo@txigrescue.org   UPDATE 04/18/2019 Webster is becoming a little more trusting.  He doesn't run everytime we enter the room.  He lays on the sofa with us most of the time.  He is still very shy with new people and very hard to handle/pick up.  We do pick him up to do nails and give baths, but he struggles so much that it takes my husband to hold him.   He enjoys going outside with the rest of the gang and will come in when they do, but needs coaching to cross the threshold and will run if the door moves in the least. He will require a very patient home that will allow him to be himself and not force him to love them back.  He absolutely needs other IGs to learn from.  He will likely be skittish the rest of his life. If you are Webby's special someone, please see our adoption process and application at www.txigrescue.org Eyes wide with wonder and yearning to trust, Webster’s world is warmest and most secure when he’s snuggling on the sofa for much of the day with the other dogs in his foster home. Having come from a puppy mill with little human contact, the patient nurturing of his fosters have slowly but surely been luring him out of his shell. Still skittish at the slightest touch, once past his initial resistance, he’ll allow his fosters to pet him briefly and to hug him, arms wrapped tightly around him, several times a day. He’ll also allow them to pick him up and carry him -- with a firm, strong grip -- to another room to eat and outdoors to potty, while indoors he uses pee pads. With so far still to go and so much of life still to live, what Webster needs now are patient and loving adopters, highly experienced with former mill dogs and their fears, who are committed to bringing him fully out of the darkness and into the light.

Story
Georgia is quiet and loving. Her perfect day would be snuggling with her human and napping curled up next to them. She is skittish at first due to her rough start in life at a puppy mill, but comes around pretty quickly with some patience and love. She seems to be mostly house trained and will wait by the door when she needs to go outside. She will be a great fit in a quiet home with someone who is around most of the day and is willing to work with her to help her feel comfortable. Georgia is deaf, partially blind, and has a heart murmur that will more than likely require Pimobendan once or twice a day for the rest of her life. Her heart murmur will be rechecked this Fall or Winter to see if the meds need to be continued.  Georgia's ideal home would be with a person or family who can take of her special needs. Her deafness and partial blindness don't seem to inhibit her in any way, and she's as loving and sweet as ever, but will need someone who can both provide the time and patience she needs.  She gets along well with other dogs and wth cats. ##456306##
